What is the Miami Open?

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.

The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.

  • Miami Open 2022

by 70+ Tennis on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Went to the first Thursday - Saturday. The tennis was outstanding. Saw many of the best players and great matches in the Stadium as well as some of the "outer" courts. Parking was a hike, but understood due to the number of attendees. Somewhat disappointed at how empty the Stadium was on relatively cool and low humidity days. Only issue had to do with the layout of the outer courts and the "you are here" signs (which didn't say where you were). Most of the "you are here" signs I have used in the past were oriented so what was in front of you was "up" on the sign. Not here, and it wasn't easy to figure out how to get to some of the low numbered outer courts from the Stadium. Other than that, a great experience. BTW, the e-tickets worked great except we couldn't transfer some of the tickets to individuals, so we had to stay together (or text) to get into the Stadium.

  • Not that good

by So so on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Tennis was great, facilities? Informed people were not that helpful from getting into the parking load, needed handicap parking, to entering the stadium with our tickets on the phone. Took myself and two helpers to connect the iPhone to the reader Not signs or direction to some of the outer courts after asking two or three people When entering main stadium, showed ticket and asked for elevator to escalator to section 103 and was told only use ramp since they didn’t no where elevator or escalators were Tickets were on my phone only and wife had to take my phone to get back in, restrooms and food concessions were not close and didn’t give her any carry ins for the drinks and no lids Leaving around 7;00 was told there was a shuttle to parking lot, after much walking no shuttle service, stopped at 7:00 was told by staff They had Walky talkies but were not very helpful I give tennis a 9, facility s 6, and workers/volunteers a 3 Not sure we would go back under these conditions

  • A lot of walking

by Tennis lover on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The parking/walking to the venues is a moderately long walk - impossible for someone who is impaired.

  • Miami Open

by Stig on 3/27/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

The Stadium hotel was so-so; nothing great, though it was only a mile away. They provided a shuttle service which was a big advantage. The grounds at the stadium were impressive, reminding me of the National Tennis Center in Queens. However, I thought signage was very poor. It was difficult to locate the outer courts. Many of the employees, especially the ushers, couldn't speak English. This is not acceptable!! This is the USA, not Spain or Mexico!!! Also, I didn't like the neighborhood around the stadium; too many minorities.

  • Great tennis vibe

by Laurence M on 3/27/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

As a tennis fan who has been to a great many events from huge to small, 250 to Majors - I think this event has it all. Great weather, top talent, great vibe, easy to get to, great food, drink and right amount of attitude.

  • THE VENUE WAS NORMAL AS PRIOR YEARS, BUT POOR FOOD OPTIONS

by RON on 3/27/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The food options were quite limited and the vendors were more concerned about which gratuity percentage they were going to get rather than providing quick courteous service. Additionally, the food options were poor at best. No quality food but basically food you would get a local fair. They need to pick up their game on the quality options even if the cost is more, people will pay for quality.

  • Great Experience

by Dayanom on 3/27/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Miami Open Tennis 2022 was amazing! From the tournament itself, the players the food court, the lawn, just everything. It was my first but won’t definitely be my last!

  • Venue Not Easy to Navigate

by Michelle on 3/27/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

My group was disappointed by the lack of signage on the grounds. It was difficult to locate the various courts because they were often not marked obviously, and there were very few maps to refer to on the grounds - it would have been very helpful to have printed maps handed out. Printed schedules would also have been helpful …. the playing and practice schedules were only available on our phones and they were difficult to see in the sunshine causing a lot of frustration (I recall being given a printed schedule last time I visited the Miami Open a few years back.)

  • Enjoyable 2 days at Miami Open

by Zoe on 3/26/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed 2 days at the Miami Open. The event staff everywhere was fabulous, so nice, so helpful. They made it a truly pleasurable experience. Ordering tickets thru Ticketmaster could have been more user friendly. The mobile app was a bit confusing.

  • Overall Fun

by Sliv on 3/26/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The experience was great upon entering the premises. But, I wanted to call out that the experience arriving to the stadium is very confusing. SE gate only means something once you are near the stadium. But, arriving by Uber with a friend that had health limitations, turned out to be a struggle. Lots of misinformation provided to our Uber driver at different gates and an extremely long walk for my friend who has physical limitations. This tournament needs to do a better job with accessibility.

  • Disappointed fans

    by Love40 on 3/26/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

Having just come from Indian Wells, we were greatly disappointed in the Miami Open. It was unorganized and often the Tennis One app (the official tournament app) had incorrect information and we missed parts of matches we wanted to see. There was not enough seating to accommodate people while eating. The staff in merchandise shops, food vendors and many of the workers at the courts were rude and not helpful. We purchased tickets for Tuesday that were for specific seats and were informed at the venue only ground passes were sold for Tuesday. We were charged more than for a grounds pass. Unbelievable! Going forward, we will most likely spend our time and money at Indian Wells and other tournaments rather than the Miami Open.

  • Explain procedures of ticketing before the tournament

by eduguil on 3/26/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

I think is better in advance to the tournament explaine how the process of buying tickets on internet or at the ticket office is going to be performed. (ed. how the phone number is going to be used and the way to scan it at the entrance) This avoid long lanes or a lot of time wasted .

  • The Latin Slam

Found great tickets and preview codes on Tennis Bargains. Even $25 ones on the main court this year in 2021

  • Miami Open tennis tournament Hard Rock Stadium March 2019

by Pat on 5/9/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

There were some good things and some bad. It was the first year for this tennis tournament at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The good things were that the amenities were excellent on the outside grounds. Lots of concessions (though prices higher than usual) and lots of outside seating for enjoying a meal or a drink, etc. The unfortunate part was that the tennis seats (14,000) in the main stadium were put in a 65,000 seat football stadium and it was terrible. A lot of the temporary stands for part of the seating were accessible only by climbing long flights of stairs. Some of the seating forced the fans to look sideways at the action on the court. The acoustics were terrible and you couldn't really understand the PA announcer. The whole concept inside the main stadium was ugly as it really isn't a tennis stadium, but was forced into this gigantic football stadium. I have been attending tennis tournaments for a very long time and this was the worst venue for a major stadium that I've been to.

  • Mixed feelings

    by traveler62 on 4/12/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Purchased tickets for two days, first day was good, second day was really a mess by tournament organization. I know there were rain delays, but it was very poorly managed. Tournament suffered from Nadal absence, and early Djockovic elimination, Federer cruised to final and faced no real opponent.

  • Getting to the venue needs work for out of towners

by Outoftownvisitor on 4/9/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The whole venue was set up for people driving - not much thought to those from out of town getting there. No shuttle bus as before - even on a limited basis would have been better than taxis, trying to ride share ..........complete chaos at the ride share location arriving and, particularly, leaving.........just a mess with lots of unofficial folks trying to tell tourists, out of town folks etc that they were uber drivers etc but were actually scamming the tennis fans. You need to rethink that .......buses were going from our "official" hotel but only for tennis officials - seemed ridiculous that there were no shuttles for anyone else.

  • special attention

by grandslamfan on 4/7/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Upon arrival at our ticketed seating section (344, row 17), the usher observed the canes used by 2 of our party. He speculated that climbing to row 17 would be a problem for us so he contacted Miss Roselyn (I think that is her name). She agreed and proceeded to get us handicapped seats on the first level. We were most grateful for this special attention. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable viewing experience.

  • Thrilling tournament

    by R. U. on 4/4/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Grate experience.. Plenty of good tennis matches and a lot of fun in the venue. Club 72 was awesome. The food was great !!! Stadiums were very good. The only problem was that main stars had to retire. Most of the people go to see their stars: Rafa, del Potro, Serena, Sharapova ..... It Is a problem... The stars are getting older and the new generation is not showing up..

  • Nice New Tennis Venue

by Kainoy on 4/3/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Hubby & I are annual attendees to the Miami Open. Each year we travel from NYC to Miami for this great tennis event. Of course in the past it was in Key Biscayne which was OK- but this new stadium is awesome. More than an adequate amount of space to accommodate the tennis fans and a lot more dining options to choose from. Good job with placing temporary seating in the stadium. Provides a more intimate viewing experience. Looking forward to attending in 2020. Tennis played and watched as it should be.

  • Almost Perfect

by JuliaB on 4/3/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

We loved almost everything about the Miami Open. The parking was well laid out and accessible. The seats were comfortable. The energy was amazing. The competition was sharp. However, I would have appreciated some healthy, fresh food.
