What is the Miami Open?

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.

The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.

PG Tennis Girls Annual Miami Open

by Maty on 3/28/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Another great tennis open in a beautiful new venue. Lots of pretty open areas ad well as great seating areas. It was spread out. The restroom facilities were more than adequate and well maintained. The grandstand seats were comfortable. Lots of court choices for viewing the matches. AWESOME VOLUNTEERS! Areas needing improvement: 1. Parking - prices outrageous and need to be reconsidered. Also, better signage for parking; 2. Food - prices are a bit high; 3. Water - expensive if you purchase water; 4. Seating in grandstand - there was no control with patrons sitting in reserved seats so general admission ticket holders sat in the reserved seating area. A designated reserved seats only should be implemented; 5. Separate designated entry/exit for courts. We will be back next year!

the new Miami open was amazing for me and friends except for one point: the smallers courts needs more space for the fans.

    Tickets too expensive

    by S. A. on 3/28/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Good experience. My first time in this Open. The tickets are expensive to go several days to the good matches.

    Everythng gorgeous but.......

by Mauro Muscella on 3/28/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

The village is spectacular, the parking is really close the event, but (25,00$) for the evening is really too much, considering the time of stay. Main stadium, from the permanent structure “east gate”, has an obstructed vision from many rows, because the hand rail of stairs, designed for a field located at a different a larger point, makes many rows unusable. Best regards

    A Mostly Positive Experience

by NYC Girl on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

The “new” Miami Open, at the Hard Rock Stadium (home of the football Miami Dolphins) offers a mostly positive fan experience. The grounds are surprisingly attractive (built over the Dolphins’ parking lots), with spacious “paseos” for walking around, varied and mostly excellent food and beverage choices. More shade (whether provided by more umbrella/table combinations, tents or palm trees) would be nice. The negatives: the “erector set” main stadium made of metal gets sooo hot (my shoes stuck to the “floor”). Also the tournament previously offered a shuttle from official hotels; this should be reinstated. Not only would it be more environmentally friendly, the rideshare options were chaotic, with no clear signage for drop off or pick up. Finally, staff were uniformally pleasant but often clueless, resulting in terrible directions or other messaging. These latter 2 points are easily addressed—and I hope they are during future years

    Parking

by Alec on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

It was very confusing when it came to buying parking tickets. They had two different prices and did not specify the differences between them.

    Great Experience

    by A. C. on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

I thought the tournament would lose something when it moved from Key Biscayne, but it greatly exceeded my expectations. The drive was easier, the parking was much better and it was easier moving around from court to court.

    Miami Open Review

    by K. B. on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

I really liked everything about it this year, other than the main stadium, which did not have any of the intimate and open feel of the Key Biscayne main stadium. The outer courts were great for viewing in the early days of the tournament.

Excellent organised event, we loved it!!

by Ruby on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Its was really good to attend matches on the smaller courts and see the player so close up, we felt as though we were walking among the giants, yet we also enjoyed the moments watching the players in the Stadium.

    Great new facility

by DeRo on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Although the Miami open is at a great new facility, I have to admit that I missed the intimacy of the old location! I think it will just take some getting used to for me!

Loved the Miami Open. Great venue and great tennis

by Uwbadgerfans on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

We attended the evening session on Sunday, March 24. The venue is easy to get to, well organized with lots of volunteers and a great place to watch tennis. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the evening and will be back next year. Only complaint was the prices for food and beverages but it is expensive at most events.

    Miami Open 2019

by D on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

My wife and I attended the 03/22 to 03/25 sessions and had east side seats, generally in the lower sections, in the stadium. We did attend several matches on the grandstand and outer courts. The layout of the campus was excellent and the quality of food and service was very good. A little pricey. The stadium is cavernous and when, not full, looks very, very empty taking the fans out of the matches. The sound system was almost inaudible and one had to the read the trailers on the big screens. The two Federer matches we attended enjoyed larger crowds and the energy level of the fans improved. The distances between the seats, restrooms and concession areas resulted in missing some of the games due the inability to exit and return quickly. The outer courts were very intimate and fun once in a seat. The ingress/egress process was inefficient and the time between changeovers and sets not adequate to get everyone seated. The serve clocks were on the east side walls and not visible to everyone. All in all, we enjoyed the 4 days.

Unless you have lower bowl- do not buy 300 level stadium tic

    by M. F. on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

The Hard Rock new facility is amazing with the exception of the Stadium. I purchased 300 level and the seat was awful- so far removed from the game. I only remained for 1 set and then left and went to watch matches around the grounds. I would never again buy a stadium seat in the 300 level- better off just purchasing a ground pass. I used to have 300 level seats at the Key Biscayne site and they were so far superior. I was also disappointed that they took away the Kids Zone where kids could play on a tennis court. The food was much better and the parking was very easy. However they should ease up on the no outside food policy, in Key Biscayne you could bring fruit and snacks.

    Needs work

    by t. j. on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

We were greeted by a wonderful staff which was consistent thoughout the event where we spent 2 days. Tickets were overpriced which I’m sure is why there were so many empty seats. It seams people purchase seats and try to resell for rediculous amounts-which doesn’t happen. The seats on the south side which are actually stadium seats have a lower rise than the stadium make for difficult viewing if a tall person is seated in front of you. With the exception of the grandstand several of the outer courts could have used more seating or perhaps the selection as to where matches were played should have been reviewed as lines were excessively long waiting to get in to see a match. The food was terrible and way overpriced. Few healthy options-no fish in Florida, no unsweetened iced tea in the South? I realize it’s the first year but I love tennis hate to see events ruined by greed. -Thom J

    Nice facility with good parking

by Balls on 3/27/19Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Seemed like very few matches. Nice open areas. Had to wait thru first set to get into Fognini singles. Park and walk was great. Problem is no intimacy to surroundings.
