What is the Miami Open?

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.

The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.

  • It was amazing

by Lidio on 3/30/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Everything was great. But there should be people in the parking lot telling people what is allowed or not. Because is annoying going back from the main entrance to the parking lot to take things back

  • Disappointed

by DeeDee on 3/30/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

This really felt like an indoor tourny. Had to keep looking up at open roof to remind myself that venue was outside. Felt too much vibration in the built out part of the stadium. Security directed us to the stadium ramp and nowhere else. Did not see any green space with a jumbotron, so you could walk around and hang out and watch a match if you wanted. Everything is credit card, no cash and no receipts. Standard food court fare with lots of little screens on which you really could not follow play. Didn't see any shops or exhibits to walk through. Should have left tourny on Key Biscayne. This is not a tennis venue and was the worse tourny that I have ever attended.

Even of you don’t like tennis you’ll enjoy the enviroment of the place. Get sunscreen, and a hat and prepare to have fun around great tennis and beatiful people.

  • Great Miami Open

by LE on 3/29/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed the Miami Open this year! Comfortable seats and food facilities were near where we were seated. The grounds really improved with interesting food/drink spots and stores. And the tennis in the early rounds was great on the Stadium Court! Parking was well directed.

  • Parking complications

by GB on 3/29/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

    Signals at Miami hard rock stadium are a disaster; nobody knows how to arrive there; the ticket should be enough in order to prove that you already paid for the parking, why to have a separate link ???? Is not practical??? To download the app was also a complication I could not do it Then at the entrance there was a limit for the size of the bag for ladies that nobody advised us about this??? So in general access is cumbersome, it was not a nice experience even that Key Biscayne was far the arrival was more organized;

  • Miami Open 2022

by Chris on 3/29/22Rating: 1 out of 5

Great tennis venue with fantastic players and awesome matched but the entire design and organization of this great tennis spectale can NOT be even compare at all to the wonderful experience at Indian Wells Tennis Paradise in California. Starting from lack of proper directional signage to the horrible car parking arrangements and of course a total disaster with adequate supply of healthy food choices...and I'm not even complaining about outrageously high "garbage food" pricing but total absence of healthy choices. If you want people to stay for a long time and watch these great players in action - when backing in the sun - you need to think about accommodating people's needs.

  • Love the intimacy of the grounds

by Cynthia on 3/29/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Loved my experience at the Miami Open. There were several courts with matches that could be viewed and this is a definite plus. My only disappointment was the Stadium Court. There are some seats that just shouldn’t be sold and I purchased 4 tickets for such seats. I was also disappointed in the emptiness of the Stadium Court and I think it’s because of the way the tickets are sold. This is not a good look for national television.

  • Our tennis team had a ball!

    by K. S. on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Ve been attending the Open for several years. This was my first time at the new weenie… and I was not disappointed. Cudos to Mr. Blake and the team that put this together. The food could have been better but who comes there for the food??

  • Great time… We’ll planned!

Best time I’ve ever head at a Miami Open! Well set-up logistically… especially from the champagne vantage point.

  • I Long for Key Biscayne

by Jim S on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

The Hard Rock stadium has a long way to go. Parking is terrible, and it’s not clear to me how this comes near meeting ADA requirements. There were no shuttles to take people from parking lots to the stadium. When you arrive in the lot, the attendants direct you to non handicap spots, even though there are plenty available. Again, no shuttles. Once inside, there are limited handicap seats, and few elevators. Again, no signage or staff to give guidance. The common areas outside the stadium consists of course green “artificial grass” flooring, which separates from other pieces and causes an extreme trip hazard. The food is terrible and ridiculously expensive. Staff, while mostly polite, are extremely uninformed. Retrofitting a tennis venue in a football stadium results in many seats with limited and obstructed site lines. Plastic dividers in between sections blocks views and makes taking photos impossible. Because the outer courts surround the stadium, they are long walks from the Hard Rock Stadium and Grandstand. Signage to the courts, and accessibly are awful. While this event used to be one that we eagerly awaited, it’s quickly falling on our list of must things to do. I wish they would return this ti Key Biscayne.

  • 2022 Miami Open

by MW on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

While I enjoyed seeing live tennis again, I'm not a fan of the tournament at Hard Rock Stadium. I attended 1 night session and 1 day session. Overall, it feels like you built some tennis courts in the parking lot of a professional football stadium. Could just as easily have been in the parking lot of an abandoned mall. Here are some details. 1. Hate the stadium court. Feels like a tiny tennis court plopped into an enormous football stadium. And I will never sit in the temp portion again. My section (116) noticeably shoot and swayed, and that is with maybe a quarter of the seats filled. It felt completely unsafe, regardless of if it was or not. I also did not like only having 1 entrance into the stadium. That made it extremely difficult to get from 1 court to another. 2. The show courts are spread too far apart. Very difficult to get to the other courts to graze. Also, I was able to see almost none of the practice sessions, one of the most interesting parts of a professional tennis tournament. 3. A compliment. The access (arriving and departing) to the facility from the turnpike was simple. That said, there were maybe a quarter of the seats occupied. 4. Food was mediocre. A for effort. C for execution. 5. The scheduling was perplexing. Some show courts had 1 or 2 matches all day whereas others were booked back to back, so much so that I had to miss the last match of the day session as the night session had already started. That was unfortunate. What can we do to secure another "permanent" facility for tennis? It's so sad that we had to leave Crandon Park. At least there you knew you were in Miami. 6. Idea. Why doesn't the tournament collaborate with the Ultra Music Festival? 2 MAJOR events held on the same weekend. Again, thanks for bringing tennis to Miami. I've already got next year's tournament on my calendar.

  • Amazing

by Monica on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

The entire experience was so much better than we expected. It was amazing and better than expected.

  • Great venue! Great tennis! Lovely grounds!

by Michelle on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

After a long walk from parking. Nice grounds with lots of places to sit with umbrellas. The tennis stadiums are very good. You are close to players. Most of all, beautiful weather!

  • Nice experience!

by Chazz on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

A nice experience for the first time. It would be more accessible to have closed captions from smaller courts from the score board like the main stadium. The food was a bit disappointing as most of them are fried and healthy with those who have health or medical issues.

  • Everything perfect except...

by Port St Lucians on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

We love attending this event. Everything is perfect except for one thing. As 60-somethings, we would like to have a place to sit down and be served a nice meal without high-decibel music preventing conversation. We get to enjoy that at the US Open. So we opted to have dinner off-site this year. Of course, we're here for the tennis - which was great - but that one thing would make the experience perfect.

  • Lack of court signs & directions.

by Mr Lee on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyed the nail-biting matches between players & found myself at the edge of my seat most of the time. My biggest gripe was the lack of direction signs once inside the stadium grounds to direct you which court where you want to go to.

  • Miami Open The Tour

by SM on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Please share review with Miami Open. Hard Rock stadium has solved all PLAYERS' issues as compared to Crandon Park site. Please do NOT ignore the fans' issues, also. Everybody collectively understands the issues of Crandon Park. Miami is THE tour stop of the entire season with now one of the worst tournaments. Look at all the no-shows of big-time players, multiple early round upsets, and less than 20% capacity in Hard Rock Stadium. Temporary prop jobs might be OK for a 250 event like Atlanta, but not in a city like Miami. The ATP Tour and WTA Tour both deserve a world class tennis center on the level of Indian Wells or Melbourne Park at this wonderful city. The present situation could not be a bigger eyesore and insult to both tours. I have been to all 4 slams at least 4 times (U.S. Open and AusOpen x 6), IW x 3 and Miami now x 7. For a city with the wealth and resources of Miami, there has to be a MUCH better resolution of both players' and fans' issues than this. The fans wanted improvements to Crandon Park, also.

  • Needs more

by Dick on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Would like more shopping options, better food selection since most options were fairly unhealthy and expensive. Lacked evening entertainment that I was expecting.

  • expensive

by Jules on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

Food was EXPENSIVE and really sucked in quality. Drinks prices out of control. Made the whole experience lack enjoyment

  • Great

by Fulmie on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Our seats were too high for me as I'm scared of heights and they exchanged the tickets no questions asked and no additional charges. Great service!
