I Long for Key Biscayne
by Jim S on 3/28/22Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5The Hard Rock stadium has a long way to go. Parking is terrible, and it’s not clear to me how this comes near meeting ADA requirements. There were no shuttles to take people from parking lots to the stadium. When you arrive in the lot, the attendants direct you to non handicap spots, even though there are plenty available. Again, no shuttles. Once inside, there are limited handicap seats, and few elevators. Again, no signage or staff to give guidance.
The common areas outside the stadium consists of course green “artificial grass” flooring, which separates from other pieces and causes an extreme trip hazard. The food is terrible and ridiculously expensive. Staff, while mostly polite, are extremely uninformed. Retrofitting a tennis venue in a football stadium results in many seats with limited and obstructed site lines. Plastic dividers in between sections blocks views and makes taking photos impossible. Because the outer courts surround the stadium, they are long walks from the Hard Rock Stadium and Grandstand. Signage to the courts, and accessibly are awful.
While this event used to be one that we eagerly awaited, it’s quickly falling on our list of must things to do. I wish they would return this ti Key Biscayne.
