What is the Miami Open?
The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.
The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.
Great venue , parking should be better too far of a walk.. and you gotta have more bathroom facilities on the grounds! At least the trailer bathrooms!!!
Really nice event with all the top players, more than you will be able to see. Stadium is not the perfect venue, but it is nice to have a shady side option to get out of the sun at times. Outer courts are great for close up watching. I have traveled to this event several times (many at Key Biscayne), and have always enjoyed it. Very nice to have the option to hit the beach in the morning and tennis during the day.
Everythings is overrated !!! The Arena was a haos, nobody now where are the important places in field.
Would be great to have more interaction w/ players!
tennis was good, but getting there was crazy. I paid $94 for a parking pass in the blue lot because I have a bad leg .The walk was at least 20 minutes and exhausted me. Going back was worse because there were no clear signs to get to Blue lot. It took me half hour to find my car. I know you were setting up for formula racing, but it left an unpleasant experience.
The games were fun. It was easy to get to courts and seats. Issues: 1) If you don't know how to find info online, you won't know who is playing (when and where). Maybe add electronic info screens 2) It was hot and shade was limited 3) It was hot and there weren't any water stations. Speak to the organizers of Audible Beach Fest in Fort Lauderdale. They did an amazing job with cold water stations. 4) Also speak to them about sponsors. They gave away water bottles, bags, beverage samples, hats (all useful and appreciated in a hot day) 5) The stadium is large enough to hold all your guests. Allow GA ticket holders to access the top levels. You'll promote a better experience and you'll also gain in F&B revenue. 6) Parking was a nightmare. It took 1 hr to park. Incredibly unorganized. 7) Maybe I missed it in Q&A, but it's important to specify that sunscreen is allowed into the event. If not, provide it
The app and website are not great and often have misinformation. love the new site but getting into parking is a bit scary and a free for all. Instead of volunteers directing traffic it would be better to have police officers who know what they are doing, I nearly had a head on collision as drivers were confused and tried to exit orange parking without looking the water bottles are so hard to oepn and the water tastes terrible in them. need a better vendor here all the other food i had was great but a bit pricey! all the staff very friendly Indian wells as this wonderful astroturf area where players come out to stretch, play frisbee or soccer with each other etc. there is a cat walk around the area where fans can observe them. You have the space for it!!
I've been going to Miami Open for years. Enjoyed Crandon park but I wasn't so object to the move to Hard Rock Stadium, since it has shades in the stadium and it's closer to home. However this year has been the worst in my memory. It took me an hour and half in order to park. I pre-purchased parking in the Orange lot and have parked there before with no problem. This year, the traffic control was super confusing. I ended up going to several entrances to the Orange lot only to find them blocked. Finally I followed other cars to get in the overflow parking lot. The walk from the overflow parking to the stadium gave us the view of the back of the stadium, which looks run-down, messy and ugly. It's like walking in an industrial ground. Miami Open used to be a pretty prestigious event. Now it looks to be on a downhill.
This event is great because you get to see the top players in action, however the whole thing comes with a price tag.... after you buy a ticket (very expensive if you want to be in a section that doesn't require binoculars to see the players' faces), you then have to buy another ticket for parking, cheapest of which is $30! Finally, the assistance for persons with limited mobility (I was with one of them) exists but is not signaled ANYWHERE at the entrance gates. We found out it was there at the end of our stay, almost all the way back to the exit, when we saw a stretched golf cart pass us by. (I had asked an agent on chat prior to going if there was any infrastructure to this effect, and was told there was none!). Very poor communication and practical info which makes for a rough experience if it's your first time there, which was the case for us. I won't mention the water price ($5 for a metal container that gives you 2 gulps) or the $13 frozen lemonade.... but that's the typical racquet you will experience at any venue. If I weren't that big of a tennis fan, I would not return, but I am..... ;)
In general, the event was really good. The process for parking is complicated. Nobody was outside the parking lot to control de traffic. There are not enough people to receive all the cars. Not all access to the Orange Parking lot was available. It would be best if you improve this for future events. Regarding food, you must be careful; some food vendors did not ask for a tip in the POS; instead, they auto-assigned the tip without asking you what amount you wanted to give.
The food no good and expensive and the parking to expensive
Bought tickets and pre-paid parking. Parking details only came through morning of event (orange2) and I was worrying about where to set GPS for. This parking didn't tally with anything on google maps and I have never been to the area before so a bit daunting as didn't want to be driving round, caught in traffic and not sure where to head to. Needs a bit more info like drive to... then follow signs to..... Loooonnnnggg walk from car park to stadium. Tennis was great, excellent line up - but where are the fans? Stands are quite empty and that doesn't help the atmosphere. People in the seats next to me were only there for lat 20 minutes of whole afternoon session. Also, I was on Stadium with shade but courts need far more shade from sun as boiling out there, so I could see why there was almost nobody in the stands opposite for much of the afternoon. Food - lots of choice but so expensive. Water also expensive. So, more shade, more affordable food choices (and more healthy options) and less distractions so fans come to the stadiums to watch and create an atmosphere rather than browse all the merch and food options instead of watching tennis, Honestly wonder why some people buy tickets if they're not going to watch!!! Otherwise, great line up and reasonably well signed around the grounds and an good day out.
I think the worst experience ever going to Miami Open... After it was moved from Key Biscayne, Miami Open lost it...big time! Super disorganized and is not for people who actually want to see games. You cannot even find those courts behind F&B setting where many visitors just get drunk. From Stadium to Grand Stand the walk is too long...you might as well miss the whole game by the time you get anywhere at the Hard Rock Stadium. Not the right venue for Miami Open! Won't be wasting my time the next year!
Handicapped seats at the Stadium Court are few and poorly located. Not knowing about access to seating, I purchased two seats in section 114 (behind the service line), in row 11, which I thought would allow access with just one step down. However, THIS IS NOT A TENNIS STADIUM. It is a stadium INSIDE a stadium - so the only way to my seats was up a stairway and then 11 rows up. Thanks to some wonderful ladies in the Guest Experience area, they were able to move us to seats in a handicapped area on the side of the court. At first, all that were available were partially obstructed seats, but a bit later moved us to perfectly good seats. It is sad that in such a large venue, handicapped seats are so few and far between. It is time they built a real tennis stadium for this event. Until handicapped seats are more prevalent, will not be returning.
Over price food and drinks, poor quality, more bathrooms
There should be event signs from Florida Turnpike exits (from North and South) all the way to the parking lot(s) clearly showing the way. The Orange parking lot situation needs rethinking because there was a big backup and you could only enter it coming from one direction. I brought 1 electrolyte drink but needed more. I asked where were the ones being given out like last year. A worker asked another worker who directed me almost to the exit to get a bottle of Ready. At the US Open, we’ve gotten giveaways of fans and sunscreen, very welcomed. I was very pleased that my suggestion for more seating and umbrellas on the grounds was implemented😁. Hope to see you there next year!
Watching the tennis and seeing all the different players was great, but the organization was poor. On Sunday morning the situation getting everyone into the parking was not only a long wait but also set up to be frustrating for drivers without clear direction. There was one lane to get into parking until people made a second lane which then wasn’t monitored and involved crazy angry honking from people and others just going dangerously down the wrong way on the road. I would definitely Uber if I go again as it was so stressful even though we had purchased parking ahead of time. Also, they did a poor job of assuring people were in the right sections in the stadium court and also in the correct seat within the sections. This led to one obnoxious group being moved from their seats 4 times when the actual ticket holders arrived only to grab other seats that weren’t theirs.
Beautiful tennis setting/facility, great tennis, will definitely plan on attending next year!
The facility is amazing with bars and food plus many courts to choose from. it is great to be able to move around and see so many great players. parking time is definitely a problem and do not come if you do not like long walks from the parking to the stadium. Food is average and expensive. DO nor sit on the side ( side built for the tennis -the miami Dolphin shaded side is more comfortable or the end zone and the east side)where the sun shine all day- people were passed out and had sun stroke
Facility provides good views in stadiums and outside courts. Nice grounds. Two big negatives. One they need to establish a better location for Ubers. It’s a madhouse at gate 18 -which is a busy parking lot and almost impossible for Ubers to get there and make the turn. Need to establish a separate location. Second - charging $12 for a Pepsi seems a little pricey particularly because due to the sun you are always thirsty.
