What is the Miami Open?

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.

The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.

  • The Event Was Great

by D Braden on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The facilities, food choices, and matches were excellent. Parking and crowd control definitely needs some work. I have been to other tennis events of this level and the parking as well as crowd control was lights out better. We were even at this event in 2019 at the same location and it was handled better. I don't know the reason but we had tickets for the 27th and 28th and we arrived at around 9:30 on the 27th and were immediately sent away being told that nobody could get into the lot until 10:00. This created a massive backup out on the road trying to get in to the orange lot. The next day we arrived a little late but still before 10:00 and they were letting everyone in. Leaving the tournament on the 27th we left around 7:00 after one of the last day session matches and it was great. On the 28th we left about an hour earlier and they hay erected temporary fencing that bottled the exit so narrow that night session people coming on the grounds and day session people leaving were forced into a gauntlet that was really problematic. Exiting the parking lot was also a nightmare and took forever to get off the grounds. We have been to other events and never had these same issues. I also didn't understand why the gates didn't open until 10:00 with matches starting at 11:00. A big part of the fun for a fan is the get on the grounds early to see players out on the practice courts and then move onto the matches. An hour isn't enough especially when a good portion of that hour was taken up just getting in the gate. Other events allow you on the grounds 2 hours before matches start.

  • Rain Delay

by Michele on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

We got to our 7pm Miami open session at 6:30pm, we ate some dinner, choices were not great and mostly overpriced. We took advantage of seeing some of the booths so that was fun. We had good seats in the main stadium, it was a good men’s singles match, but about 45 minutes in there was a rain delay and they stopped playing and did not continue and we were not offered to come back for a different match another day.

  • 4 week days at Miami Open

by Cynthia R. on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

We enjoyed four day time sessions at the 2023 Miami Open this week. This was our second year attending and learned the hard way last year about seat selection in the shade. We enjoy the Stadium side sections and were very pleased with friendly staff throughout the venues.

  • Parking

by Lori on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Parking was a disaster. There was no police presence assisting with the traffic light at the intersection of Ives Dairy and turnpike. Cars were backed up trying to get into the Orange lot. Next year MUST be improved. It was so bad that the parking staff starting letting people go thru without paying or showing they paid for a pass.

  • So so

by Robert on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

There is major mismanagement in the parking area. On Monday at 10am we waited in line for 50 minutes to drive a quarter mile. Unacceptable. Upon leaving there were 3 kids in their own cars blocking the lanes and only allowing 1 line to exit. When we spoke to them, they cursed us out and name-called. That is unacceptable. Fire them. Knowing it rains in Miami in the late afternoon, matches should all begin at 10am. It is crazy for us who bought evening matches to be expected to wait all night long. Unacceptable. There needs to be better management of the player's schedule. Also EVERY vendor must be allowed to provide ice for customers for the drinks as it is HOT!

  • Overblown

by MarkyMark on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

The Miami Open lost its magic and appeal by moving to a football stadium. The parking situation was a disaster. Cars merging from all over and no traffic control. The campus lacks the intimacy of the old venue. They’re building a formula one racetrack all around it. The main court inside of a football stadium is just bad for fans. I won’t go back.

  • When raining prepare to swim

by Tami on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 1 out of 5

Horrible experience… it’s okay that weather is uncontrollable, but when leaving my seat in the way to the area away from the rain I got completely wet! Lots of drips on the way… not mentioning the parking car… boat should be provided to get to the car

  • Great sporting a event

by Mila on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Great set up, good food, really good games and nice weather. Planning to return in 2024

  • Tennis great; Parking deplorable

by Tomas on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Getting into the orange parking lot was massive confusion. No one to provide direction for 5 lanes of traffic to go into the two available in the parking lot. No one knew where to go. Frustration for all of us. The tennis was magnificent and grounds easy to get around.

  • Will never go again

by Pete on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 1 out of 5

Outrageous prices with a ridiculous mark-up on everything. Dreadful venue, a traffic and parking nightmare and a complete rip off from start to finish. Not worth it.

  • Parking Nightmare

by Mike U on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Took me 20 minutes to get to the stadium from my home. From the stadium to the parking lot (3blocks) took over 30 minutes. Once I finally arrived at the parking they were letting people in for free because they could not handle the volume. Me and many that prepaid felt we were screwed.

  • it is a good experience overall

by Michelle Alzamora on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

The tournament is awesome, it would be wonderful to have more transport options, the parking is expensive and so is the ubber ride. We would have gone everyday if we've had more transport options. The organization is wonderful and everything is comfortable easy to understand and clean. Great experience overall

  • Excellent

by Elsa on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

I had a great experience, I had fun and enjoyed the games and the different areas, the food was delicious. It was my first time, but I am sure it will not be my last.

  • Great Experience for a good price.

by MikeHsst on 3/30/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue with good sight lines from all areas. Miami open is held at the sake time they're building the F1 track, so journey from car park to campus a little chaotic. Signage to Orange car park from North appalling! Big Orange sign with a '2' on it (what's on your ticket!) is not the Orange car park. You get redirected across the street to the Orange 2+3 Overflow car park. The main Orange car parks are, in fact, further down the street. Clear bag policy for Security is strictly enforced. Do not bring a larger bag than specified, or accept the hassle of having to check it. I liked it, as transit through security no hassle. Entrance to evening Stadium sessions only opens about ten minutes before session starts. Don't bother getting there early as you only have to wait in line.

  • Bad organizing; Bad food

by Eric on 3/29/23Rating: 1 out of 5

We spent $700 for two tickets. Because of the rain, the game was cancelled. They offered us new seats that only worth $60. Unbelievable. Food wise, I had the worst ceviche ever.

  • Great experience

by sofiaK on 3/29/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Great experience. People were super nice, they have sunscreen if you need, variety of good food available

  • Not worth the money

by One who knows on 3/29/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 1 out of 5

Stupid parking and concession prices. When r these venues realize that they r pricing themselves out of the market. Stupid.

  • Great tennis… Disappointing parking conditions

by Rich on 3/29/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The caliber of tennis and their facilities were terrific. However, the parking situation was horrendous. We bought parking passes ahead of time and still spent 45 minutes trying to find an open lot and then walked as much as a mile and a quarter to get to the stadium. Also because of the time of year the heat was unbearable to watch tennis in the sun. The venue needs to add shade to the outdoor courts to allow people to watch the tennis.

  • Not user friendly

by Flee on 3/29/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The tennis experience was excellent. Considering the weather, high temperatures and humidity there was only one water fountain I could find. It was impossible to fill a water bottle. No other tennis tournament I've attended does such a Poor job of providing water. Shame on them.

  • It was ok

by JCB on 3/29/23Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

They need more vendors this is for tennis is shameful that there are only two tennis stores. You do hav en places to eat and drink but very little for tennis activities
