    Favorite this year

by Khaynzoe on 5/4/15Warner Theatre - Washington

The story was great, music great, dancing fantastic. Overall the performers were very talented with the exception of the lead actress. Her acting was good but her singing was average which didn't go with the theme of the play. Just saw Dirty Dancing and the Color Purple this play was better than both of them but CP lead was much stronger vocally and that wasn't the main idea of that show. DD has a performer that with one song brings more applause then the main characters. The show is awesome lead actress not strong vocally.

    Nice Job!

by Anonymous on 5/4/15Warner Theatre - Washington

The show "Memphis" was done nicely. The audience at the Warner Theatre was extremely enthusiastic -- reacted to everything -- very interactive -- and that made it a really FUN show. I don't know if it was the performance that made the audience react, or the audience was just really into the show ---- I haven't had such an enjoyable evening at a show in a while.

    Thoroughly enjoyed Memphis: The Musical!!

by Cinderella56 on 4/24/15Old National Events Plaza (formerly the Centre) - Evansville

I didn't know the storyline of this particular musical which sometimes makes it difficult to follow. However, once it started I had no problem with the story. The singing and dancing were outstanding and loved that the musicians performed ON STAGE. . .sometimes behind the scenes and sometimes part of the scene. Would highly recommend!

    Memphis has it all!

by DSOK on 4/16/15Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

Second time I saw this show in 3 yrs, once on Broadway, and now on tour. I believe the quality of the performances was as good and maybe better with the tour group. The show offers it all--a serious theme but plenty of humor, GREAT music, great acting, wonderful costuming and choreography. You are drawn into the story immediately.

    Memphis

by Sportie65 on 4/16/15Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

My friend and I just came back from Memphis, TN and read about the history of the blues and rock & roll. Memphis (Touring) had great music and wonderfully conveyed the some of the historical and racial aspects of the times. A great performance!!

by 9636482 on 4/16/15Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

The singing, dancing, acting, songs, and everything were fabulous. High energy and suspense. 3.5 hours seemed like 20 minutes and I didn't want it to end.

    Memphis touring is worth seeing!

by Buster93 on 3/6/15Chester Fritz Auditorium - Grand Forks

The orchestra and characters were very good. Dancing was well choreographed and well performed. Lead rolls were excellent singers. Felicia's voice was wonderful. The smoke machines were too active and weren't needed in all the scenes outside the night club. Speaking audio could have been better. Wish more people had attended.

    Explosion of music!

by 2Muchblues on 5/20/14William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - Fresno

What a show! The energy, the music, the dancing, the storyline. Everything was wonderful. I would recommend this for any and all people that are interested in late 50's-early 60's music, when you couldn't just sit and listen, but had to move and shake it!

    Memphis was...disappointing :)

by Xander54 on 5/18/14William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - Fresno

Having grown up in Memphis and/or lived in the South, we and our friends were looking forward to an evening of Southern culture and music. We were unanimously disappointed. We are not your typical picky complainers so this negative review is atypical. Our primary disappointment was this: this was not a Southern experience. None of the actors spoke with any significant accent, and the music sounded like Broadway music, not Southern, black, gospel, blues or soul. The actors were talented enough, not amazing, enough energy - it was not at all what we were expecting it to be.

    Great show, bad sound

by Fresno007 on 5/18/14William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - Fresno

The show itself was wonderful. I would have given four stars but the sound system was terrible. The music overpowered the vocalists a lot of the time and what you did hear of the vocalists was so muddy that you couldn't understand the lyrics. I was sitting orchestra level on a side so I don't know if sound would have been better in the middle.

    Memphis was fantastic

by carcais on 4/10/14Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

The energy generated from the actors was fantastic. The vocals were extraordinary. I took my 83 year old mother and this historical event about music evolution and bought back many happy memories and I saw her tapping her food and moving to the music.
