About

Matt Nathanson is a folk-rock singer and songwriter from Lexington, Massachusetts. As a solo artist, Nathanson has released 13 studio albums since launching with his 1993 debut, Please. His fifth album, 2003’s Beneath These Fireworks, served as his first major label release, though his 2007 follow-up, Some Mad Hope, achieved his first mainstream chart success behind the Hot 100-charting single “Come On Get Higher,” which would later be certified triple-platinum. Nathanson would hit the Hot 100 twice more with “Faster” and the Sugarland collaboration “Run” from 2011’s Modern Love. He also reached a new career peak at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 for 2013’s Last of the Great Pretenders. In 2022, Nathanson released his 13th album, Boston Accent, capping a prolific run of three full-length releases in three years. Nathanson’s music and extensive covers catalog have appeared across film and television, including The Bachelor, One Tree Hill and the American Pie franchise.

Matt Nathanson put on an incredible performance (as always!). He’s funny and played a great mix of old and new songs. Felt like it was an intimate experience even though we were in an event room. Highly recommend!

My first time at the Madrid. Great venue! Also my first introduction to Steven Kellogg that opened for Matt. What a great performer! Loved his music and sense of humor. Matt never disappoints and I don't think I stopped smiling the entire evening. I hope they both come back soon!

  • Amazing Experience!!

    by E. Y. on 3/15/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Matt Nathanson and band were absolutely fantastic live.... phenomenal stage presence and the intimate venue was perfect to create a cozy atmosphere to really connect with the music and the artist. Matt had a head cold and still crushed it on stage with humor, energy, and his signature vocals. Absolutely loved it and cannot wait to see him again, hopefully at the Birchmere!

This was our first time attending one of his concerts and it definitely made us fans. Matt as well as his band were amazing. We attended the VIP meet and greet (highly recommend) and we were lucky enough to be right on the rail. Would see him again!!

by A Baltimore Girl on 3/11/23Baltimore Soundstage - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Great performance, even with a cold. He’s funny, and it’s always like a show within a show when he plays. Baltimore Soundstage is a cool small venue with awesome sound.

  • As always... Amazing

    by Mike g on 3/10/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Recently saw Matt at Asbury Hall in Buffalo. I have 2 words, Wicked Pissah.. He did not let this Boston listener down. He is energetic, hilarious and gives you the feeling that he treasures his fans. He helped many of us through COVID with his live streams and the crazy access he gave us to his life inside COVID lockdowns. He is a master entertainer and great guy. A must see!!!

  • Matt Nathanson

by Maps on 3/5/23Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

Now I understand why all of Matt's concerts are sell outs. Possibly the best show we have ever seem. To start...Bethel Woods Museum is an awesome venue. The VIP pre show experience (only available though Matt's website in advance) was well worth the time and $. He's just a genuinely nice guy who loves what he's doing. And that is reflected through his entire performance. I'm sure my husband and I were the oldest ones there and we are so glad that our son turned us on to his music while he was a college student. Hope we get to see Matt again for his next east coast tour.

  • Phenomenal.

It was a very intimate setting, and Matt was hysterical and the set list was amazing. I’m so happy I decided to go. So much fun, love, and happiness in one night.

Matt delivered one of the best performances we've seen, even though he and Aaron were under the weather. The sense of humor, songwriting, and audience participation carried the day. Intimate venue and great experience. Shout out to Stephen Kellogg for opening, too.
