About

Matt Nathanson is a folk-rock singer and songwriter from Lexington, Massachusetts. As a solo artist, Nathanson has released 13 studio albums since launching with his 1993 debut, Please. His fifth album, 2003’s Beneath These Fireworks, served as his first major label release, though his 2007 follow-up, Some Mad Hope, achieved his first mainstream chart success behind the Hot 100-charting single “Come On Get Higher,” which would later be certified triple-platinum. Nathanson would hit the Hot 100 twice more with “Faster” and the Sugarland collaboration “Run” from 2011’s Modern Love. He also reached a new career peak at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 for 2013’s Last of the Great Pretenders. In 2022, Nathanson released his 13th album, Boston Accent, capping a prolific run of three full-length releases in three years. Nathanson’s music and extensive covers catalog have appeared across film and television, including The Bachelor, One Tree Hill and the American Pie franchise.

  • Positive Perfection

by Toto on 3/4/25Chevalier Theatre - MedfordRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Matt previously in Lowell and loved it. But his humor and talent generated the audience to sing along, laugh and clap. The room was on fire. I cannot explain the magic that was there…

  • Matt Nathanson is the best!

by KC on 3/4/25Chevalier Theatre - MedfordRating: 5 out of 5

Matt Nathanson and Rachel Yamagata put on an AMAZING show on 3/1 in Medford. The singing, laughing, and smiles were felt throughout! Matt Nathanson never disappoints - whether you are a long time fan or a new fan dragged along, you are guaranteed to have fun! This venue only has one men's and one women's bathroom so the lines between sets was LONG! Finally the staff told women to use the men's room or we would have missed the show! Great space, but it needs some serious updates.

  • Amazing as always

Matt always puts on the best shows! Energetic and funny.

Matt Nathanson is a great musician who put on a great show, engaged with the crowd!

  • Boring

by Kcase on 3/3/25The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 3 out of 5

I was so disappointed. He was amazing when I saw him open for Matchbox Twenty. Very funny and played lots of great music. Between the opener, not being Lisa Loeb and his wheel of songs it was just really lame. It was the quietest concert I’ve ever been to with old people shushing us if we talked. I’ve never been at a concert that anyone could even notice anyone else talking.

  • Matt is always awesome!

by Mouton HIDTA on 2/28/25Lincoln Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show! He played three songs in succession, to start out, knowing that once he got talking to the audience, the concert was going to slow and become less formal, less like a rock star and more like your best bud chatting with you and sharing stories and songs. So he played Giants and Faster in that initial burst which were two of his best songs. He saved his most popular song Come On Get Higher for the very end, like he always does... and he mashed it up this time with Defying Gravity (a cover). Throughout the evening he played other cover songs by Paul Simon, Ac/DC and even Jefferson Starship. The best cover was "Who's gonna Ride Those Wild Horses"by U2. I nearly melted in my seat. He admires U2 so much and really threw himself into the performance of their song. He had "The Wheel"that helped him decide on some of the songs played during the set. Mission Bells was a throwback to the past. Lovely song tha tthe Wheel provided for the evening's concert. He played "I hope you Blush"and one of my personal favorites, Modern Love. He played the song "I Saw"the one from which Taylor Swift "borrowed"a lyric, and he told the wonderful story behind his realization of that fact and his eventual acceptance that her fans were not going to agree with his statements to the effect.... ever!!! Also played during the evening were "West Coast JV", "The Way It Used To Be"and "Long Distance Runner". We were sd when it was over and can't wait til he comes to town again! Yay, Matt!

  • He’s the best we have right now!

by JimJMD on 2/28/25Lincoln Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Let me start by saying my love for Matt runs deep. For 22 plus years, I’ve adored his singing, songwriting and masterful live performances. I’ve seen him more than most bands and this show was exceptional. To experience Matt Nathanson is to experience sheer genius. His ability to connect with every single audience member is paramount to his undeniable charm. No one moves a crowd like Nathanson! This show offered live versions of his new work—The King of (Un)Simple—and these songs fit easily into the treasure trove of great songs. You have to hand it to Matt that he’s remained true to himself for many years and he never disappoints. If you’ve never seen him live, you’re missing out on pure joy. What more do you need from this? Simply tickets to see him! Don’t miss this tour and everything that will follow! He is truly operating at a higher level as he gracefully hits his stride as the sexiest 50-something ever!

  • Nothing more fun than a Matt Nathanson concert!

by Debbie on 2/25/25Center Stage Theater - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Matt Nathanson play before a Gavin McGraw show and fell in love❣️. He us my all time favorite! I went to the Atlanta show, Saturday, the 22nd. For the first time, I bought a ticket for his preshow Hang. He sang songs, answered questions and is the best storyteller, and comedian. If you are not a Roomie, get on the bandwagon! Once a month, on a zoom, he interacts with his fans for two hours, and plays some songs. Everything about him just makes me smile!

  • Great Music Great Fun

by Michigander on 2/24/25House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

If you are looking for an evening of great music and great fun, a Matt Nathanson concert meets both of those objectives. He wraps you up in the warmth of his music and reels you in with his magnetic personality. The ladies around us each claimed Matt is their boyfriend, despite their husbands or boyfriends standing next to them.

  • Well worth the 1,400 miles travelled

by Val on 2/24/25House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Travelled from Michigan to Orlando with a friend for this concert, and it did not disappoint! I had seen him before in Ann Arbor, but we won’t be able to go to any of his MI shows this year, so we flew down for the weekend. Such a great entertainer, such great music—we had a lot of laughs, a lot of sing-a-longs, and a great view. Wheel of Songs was a great bit too, though I wish it landed on Detroit Waves! Highly recommend catching a concert even if it’s a bit of a drive 😉

  • Great venue sound had room for improvement

by Adrenalinbg on 2/24/25House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

We did see Matt Nathanson this summer at the Saint Augustine amphitheater and truly loved his performance. We were truly excited he was coming to town at our favorite venue House of Blues. Not sure why but the sound was lacking quality all together, maybe adding a drummer could have made a difference. Really wanted to like the opening act Rachel but same applies to her performance could not hear a word she was saying and the music was a bit of downer. We enjoyed the music wheel and of course Matt’s sense of humor and personality!

  • Such an entertainer!

by TRock on 2/24/25House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Matt Nathanson is the real deal - connects with his audience and is such a joy to hear and watch. Love him!

by TK on 2/23/25Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Matt is such an amazing performer. Very funny, highly engaging and a great musician. I never miss a show when he's in town. Loved the wheel of song.

  • Excellent entertainment

by Jackdog on 2/23/25Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Matt Nathanson 7 times now. This last show was excellent! A lot of banter with the crowd and he seemed very connected. Musically they were on point. This show was just the second show on this tour. Still working out a few kinks but overall was great.

  • great talent

by jewels on 2/23/25Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

nice venue, great show, wheel added to the fun. he is amazing

  • Overwhelming loud

by Bonnie on 8/8/24Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 1 out of 5

We went to the Hampton Beach Casino General admission to see Matt Nathanson. He was touring with two other groups and was scheduled on last. unfortunately we couldn’t stay the 2 1/2 hours through the other groups because they were way too loud for such a small venue. we left during Switchfoot. We are big Matt Nathanson fans and have seen him several times and never had this experience. We value our hearing too much and couldn’t stay despite plugging our ears. I have also been to this venue previously and not experienced this. Matt owes me one !

  • Filmore CLT

by NATfan on 7/28/24The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

Matt was great-he always is. The venue needs some changes to be enjoyed by the fans. The stairs do not have enough lighting, they are awkwardly spaced and challenging in the dark. This is the worst thing though, the Filmore has added TV screens that are suspended from the ceiling and that play commercials throughout the entire show. No, I am not kidding. On a loop there are commercials playing in your face, it is distracting and a complete slap in the face in my opinion to the guests who have paid money to see the artists. Come on Filmore! You are charging money to see the show, your drink prices are insanely inflated for weak watered down cocktails but we still buy them. Take the obnoxious screens away or at least film and show the artists from the stage like the bigger venues. So disappointing.
