Expected more
by F Alicia on 6/3/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 3 out of 5It was fine I just expected more. The set was plain and boring. No real set change between acts. No complaint in regards to the performers.

A mother. A daughter. 3 possible dads.
And a trip down the aisle you'll never forget!
Set on a Greek island paradise where the sun always shines, a tale of love, friendship, and identity is beautifully told through the timeless hits of ABBA. For nearly 25 years, people all around the world have fallen in love with the characters, the story, and the music that make MAMMA MIA! the ultimate feel-good show.

I got tickets for me and my wife last year when she first told me they were coming here as a gift for either her birthday or Christmas, can’t remember which. It also happened to coincide exactly with the day I retired from law-enforcement in a weird coincidence. Anyway, I got us front row center seats directly behind the conductor of the orchestra and only a few feet away from the stage. They did an amazing job on the show and I’m actually not a guy that likes musicals but my wife does and that’s why I got her the tickets, but I had a really good time even though I had low expectations upon arrival. End of the day, I’d go and see them again. They were that good.
The show was great . Everyone was kind and helpful. We love Gammage!
We took our daughter to MammaMia for her birthday and we all loved it! Fantastic!
Still walking with a cane after colon cancer surgery and six months of chemotherapy, I was approached by an usher who told me that he would come and get me to be pre-seated before anyone else. I was blown away at such kindness. This set the tone for the entire evening and the show being amazing was the best experience I had in a long time. Highly recommend!
I've seen Mamma Mia several times and I have enjoyed each time, but this time knocked my socks off!! The actors we terrific and showcased the characters perfectly. My sis and I had a wonderful time!!
I am a HUGE fan of Mama Mia!! Absolutely the very best performance I have ever seen at Gammage! Better than Hamilton, Lion King, Wicked! We were standing on our feet for the Encore for over 10 minutes screaming and clapping! The actors and actresses were absolutely all into their characters and performances. Amazing voices and acting. I liked it even better than the movie! I would see it over and over if I could afford to!!!
Great show, especially if you love ABBA music. The mini concert at the end was fabulous. Really enjoyable show.
What a fabulous performance. Great cast, great singing, very entertaining.
Singing, dancing, humor - so much talent! Mamma Mia was amazing! Just incredible!
Love this show, over and over again! Spectacular singing!
The classic ABBA songs come alive in this comedic look at the days before a wedding where the past returns and adds new complications. The impressive cast and orchestra make the timeless ABBA songs fresh and lively. ABBA has one of the biggest and most enduring catalogs of hits but you really grasp just how many they have despite some not being included. The rousing finale was the best ending to a performance as we did not expect three musical numbers while the cast took their bows. Amazing from start to finish.
Incredible show! Powerhouse vocals! Fast paced and very emotional! Would love to see it again! Best show I have ever seen at the Gammage!
We've been enjoying Gammage season tickets for years and this show was another winner! My wife and I have seen Mama Mia many times before and we know the story. We love ABBA. So, we were predisposed to have an enjoyable evening. And that we did! But, we were surprised! This show was designed to entertain their expected crowd . . . considerably younger than my wife and I. Many came dressed in costume and brought their dance moves with them. They had a great time AND SO DID WE! It was young, fresh, live and new! Maybe it's the music, but the choreography, costumes and dialog all worked very well. The cast was having a great time as was the audience. Although it was a modern twist on an old story it translated easily to all ages. We don't have the dance moves anymore, but we didn't feel out of place. The performance easily crossed generations. Often with shows designed for younger generations there is an "edginess"that can be appreciated, but sometimes hard to understand. This was 2 1/2 hours of wonderful entertainment for all! Thank you! Don't leave early . . . the encore is great!
It was very entertaining flew by the music I loved the energy was great
Fantastic experience!!! Even the parking was easy and convenient access. Love the Gammage venue.
The performance was very good, but ASU Gammage needs to improve their crowd handling. The performance was supposed to start at 7:30. They let the crowd into ASU Gammage almost 2 hours before the scheduled start, however, they didn't let people into the theater to find their seats until 7:20. The hallways were one big mosh pit. It was crazy and didn't need to be that way. Obviously the performance started LATE! I hope ASU Gammage get's their act together or we may be taking our theater business elsewhere.
Loved the production! Music was Terrific! Set was very clever, love the was it transformed.
Great performers and dance routines. Superb music!!!
This was one of the best shows I've seen at Gammage. Everything was top-notch. The actors were extremely energetic, the music was great. At the end the cast sang numerous Abba songs; the audience was on their feet singing and dancing. Such a fun night.
