About

Embracing the volatility and vulnerability of the real world, LA-based indie-pop duo Magdalena Bay create a reality of their own - one that is equally shimmering as it is self aware. The band have used social platforms to dispatch their music, and what you might call their philosophy, in hypnotic, ephemeral bursts. To Mica Tenenbaum and Matt Lewin, reality can be unmade, manipulated beyond all recognition; their project is as much musical as it is an experiment in pop persona and visual aesthetics. In October 2021, Magdalena Bay released their debut full-length LP, Mercurial World, via Luminelle, to critical acclaim. Written, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by the duo, Mercurial World proposes an abstract theory of time and explores the staggering "what ifs" that make up the human experience. With roots in prog-rock and inspired by bleeding edge producers like Charli XCX and Grimes, the duo creates striking yet self aware soundscapes and visuals that are becoming their true Magdalena-Bay-world signature. With a live show as captivating and dimensional as the music itself, 2022 boasts a sold out North America headline tour, and support dates with the likes of Flume, Porter Robinson and Charli XCX. Approaching actuality as a construct allows Magdalena Bay to enact their own, one that is committed to nothing but expanding the possible.

  • Great show!

by Delaney on 10/28/25MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The opener, Oxis, was a good fit to open for Magdalena Bay but would have benefitted from a slightly more spacious setup if it were possible to fit onstage in addition to the headliner's extensive set pieces. Signage at the venue clearly laid out the timeframe of the performances, which gave peace of mind when planning to stop at the merch stand. The quality and variety of merchandise available was excellent, with affordable options available like button packs, CDs, and tote bags. Signed posters and vinyl were available, shirts were stocked in all sizes, and a large staff helped the line move quickly and efficiently. Cash and card payment was possible. Most importantly, Magdalena Bay's performance was excellent and felt like watching a 90 minute music video. The setlist included the entirety of the Imaginal Disk album, some earlier material, and recently released singles in a sequence that maintained high energy and momentum throughout the show. I would gladly see them live again!

  • Magdalena Bay was actually quite enjoyable.

by Mile H on 10/28/25MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

The band was really good. Some of the security at MGM I thought was pretty ignorant and useless when it came to looking for the tickets on your phone. There was a couple of people that were working the lines that seemed to know it was going on. Overall the show was really good, I would look forward to checking them out at another venue.

What an amazing night! 25 songs in 90 minutes! Matt and Mica have boundless energy and Nick and Myles add so much to the experience too. My second time seeing them was even more magical than the first! My favorite band in my favorite city - Boston! I hope they come to Saratoga Springs on the next tour!

Saw Magdalena bay in 2021 at the masquerade. There was maybe 100 people there. Saw them this year in 2025 and they packed out the Coca Cola Roxy. One of the best live acts out there
