About

Embracing the volatility and vulnerability of the real world, LA-based indie-pop duo Magdalena Bay create a reality of their own - one that is equally shimmering as it is self aware. The band have used social platforms to dispatch their music, and what you might call their philosophy, in hypnotic, ephemeral bursts. To Mica Tenenbaum and Matt Lewin, reality can be unmade, manipulated beyond all recognition; their project is as much musical as it is an experiment in pop persona and visual aesthetics. In October 2021, Magdalena Bay released their debut full-length LP, Mercurial World, via Luminelle, to critical acclaim. Written, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by the duo, Mercurial World proposes an abstract theory of time and explores the staggering "what ifs" that make up the human experience. With roots in prog-rock and inspired by bleeding edge producers like Charli XCX and Grimes, the duo creates striking yet self aware soundscapes and visuals that are becoming their true Magdalena-Bay-world signature. With a live show as captivating and dimensional as the music itself, 2022 boasts a sold out North America headline tour, and support dates with the likes of Flume, Porter Robinson and Charli XCX. Approaching actuality as a construct allows Magdalena Bay to enact their own, one that is committed to nothing but expanding the possible.

  • Felt the music through my whole body

by liyah on 10/21/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Literally felt like i was levitating, my second concert i ever been too and was the greatest experience i had in my life. The fnabase were so nice and was so cool to be surrounded by so many people that are into the same artist as you. It felt unreal and just an awesome moment to experience her show. Her performance along with the light effects was so beautiful, it felt like i was immersed in her music videos . She has such a beautiful voice and literally my middle school self would’ve been loosing her mind right now. I’m glad I got see them and they got to be my second concert, i’ll definitely be going to more concerts.

  • Unimaginable Imaginal Mystery Tour!

by huffinpup on 10/17/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Went to their show in Houston, and had a great time. The smaller venue definitely made the experience more enjoyable and personal. Extremely talented artists, who not only delivered through their music, but through their theater-like performance, and carefully arranged stage. Seriously, it felt like I was witnessing a dreamy, sci-fi ensemble! Amazing show. I would totally recommend them to anyone who is considering attending. I’m excited for Magdalena Bay’s future, and looking forward to them expand their presence within the music industry.

Such an amazing show. The visuals, vocals, and sound production were so amazing!! Mica did a wonderful job singing the music love, some even sounded better than studio versions. The show was captivating and tour couldn’t keep your eyes away from the stage.

If I could pick one concert to go to every day for the rest of my life, this would be it.

  • Amazing live show!!

by Crypto085 on 9/25/25The Observatory North Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This live show was amazing!!! Magdalena Bay had a beautiful stage setup and used it to its fullest, not only using the screens provided with so many videos, but also used the props effectively to tell stories and to transition between songs and albums. On top of that they sounded absolutely incredible, even better live than they are on the album the energy was fantastic. Great show would absolutely see them again!

if you thought their music was good just wait until you hear it live. great set list and the most fun cool vibes. had the opportunity to be basically at the front and it was amazing… i just wish it would’ve been longer, but that’s true for every concert i’ve attended.

  • A spiritual experience

    by Zoeybean on 5/19/25Rialto Theatre-Tucson - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Mag Bay has been my favorite band for a while now but I was not prepared for everything I would feel seeing them live. They sound even better live than they do on their recordings. I sobbed throughout the entire show, just incredible energy and total emotional and spiritual resonance. They’re the most exciting/innovative band creating music today and I stand by that especially after seeing them live. Loved it so much I’m going to see them again in Phoenix! Just wish they would tour in NM but I’m happy to travel to see them anytime. Amazing performance, life changing tbh.

The more and more I listened to Imaginal Disk, the more I fell in love with the album. It reached a point where I didn’t really think about the idea of loving it any more than I did, I’d listen to it at least once a week (remember, that’s at LEAST), and I was just very excited to see these guys perform live. What shocked me the most was that I somehow love that album and Magdalena Bag as a whole even more. So much thought and care put into the show. Mica’s vocals are beautiful, Matt is going off whenever he is doing anything, and I love the other guys they brought along too (great choices). Best part of the show was actually a technical difficulty during Tunnel Vision. Everything cut out right as they were building to that incredible outro, and they not only got to the bottom of the problem pretty quickly, but they also gave us this great little jam session as they were getting back into the part they left off in the song. Just a great little moment, man! This might sound like hyperbole, but this may have been my favorite concert I’ve ever been to. Even the opener (Sam Austin’s) was crazy, an absolutely crazy and unforgettable show all around. I plan to see them again next time they tour! I HAVE to!

  • One of the Best Shows I've Seen

    by Alana on 5/12/25Saint Andrew's Hall - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I still can't believe they are playing such small venues at this point; they just might be one of the most talented and intriguing musical duos of the last decade or more. It's truly incredible how much of a performance -and with so many props- they are able to deliver with not much room to work with. It makes me even more excited to see what they will be able to do with a larger stage and more space for visuals in the future! Overall, the energy was insane and I'm still reeling from how fun it was DAYS later. If you can see MagBay live, PLEASE do!

  • Mood Enhancer Live

by SJ on 5/6/25Roxian Theatre - Mc Kees RocksRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best concerts with the most chill crowd. It completely restored my faith in humanity. Magdalena Bay sounded awesome and their visuals were super fun. The opener, Sam Austins, was also good. I will try to catch Magdalena Bay every time they’re in Pittsburgh or the surrounding area from now on.

  • Incredible performance.

This was the best concert I've ever been to. Mag Bay performed the entirety of Imaginal Disk, and the songs were super energetic, the set and psychedelic visualizers were stunning, and the costumes were super cool too. Amazing experience.

  • It's the best concert I've been in so far!

by Alejandro Moreno on 5/1/25State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan for a couple of years now and, listening to my favorite songs live was an amazing experience, loved every second of it, loved Sam Austins was incredible too, the energy in the theater and from the artists was espectacular and I just couldn't hold my tears of happiness through the whole concert after Vampire in the Corner played. 10/10 would get Magdalena Bay tickets again, they know what they're doing and they're doing it flawlessly! Love them very much!

  • magdalena bay is even better live

by mark on 10/2/24Scoot Inn - AustinRating: 5 out of 5

their music has always been top tier and are definitely one of my favorite artists of all time, but seeing and hearing the music live elevates it to a whole other level that is very rare to do. makes the music some how even better than on streaming on top of that the visuals are always top tier and even more so enhance the overall experience. definitely worth every dollar no matter how much bigger they get everyone has to go to a magdalena bay.

  • What a delight!

by blues on 9/28/24Brooklyn Bowl Nashville - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I had a ton of fun at the Magdalena Bay concert, especially with Nourished by Time as the surprise opener. Both of them put on lively, energetic sets, and there was something so special to hearing them live. I had to drive a couple of hours to the venue and would gladly drive longer next time they tour out this way!
