  • Good Night, but slightly disappointing....

    by Dalan77 on 12/23/24Rosemont Theatre - RosemontRating: 4 out of 5

I have never seen Home Alone in theater setting. (it came out while I was in high school) so I wouldn't have watched a kids movie then. It was a very nice experience and paid for the VIP and Meet and Greet. The seat was good, the movie was funny, the question and answer part was also interesting. What disappointed me was the fact he wouldn't sign anything. I am used to meet and greets with musicians, comedians, actors, etc. Almost all of them sign things. So being told he wouldn't sign anything was a major let down. (I understand the NO selfie/and camera photos thing) Now dont get me wrong, looking at the line for the meet and greet, there was probably 400-500 people for it. So signing 1 item each at 1 min each would have added some time. But I paid $275 for a ticket and a photo? After the show I had a 3 hour drive home and I would have stood in line even longer knowing I could have something signed to frame and show off. That is one of the few meet and greets where they refused to sign anything. Cool experience just wished to have what I brought signed.

  • Great night, but...

Home Alone is my favorite holiday movie. I've loved Mac since I was a child and that hasn't changed. I'm glad I went and was able to have my picture taken with him, but in my opinion, this should have been an adults-only experience. It was called a Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin. Little kids do not have the nostalgia for this movie. The fact that only children were called on stage and received autographed items also ticked me off. The VIP experience was not cheap and I'm pretty sure I would appreciate a Macaulay Culkin autographed picture of Joe Pesci more than the little kid that got it. I'm a little sour about it, as you can tell. There wasn't even any merch to purchase, which was disappointing. I think the turnout would have been just as large had this been marketed as "Cocktails with Macaulay Culkin."Pretty sure Mac himself would have had a better time that way too. Not to say he wasn't gracious and welcoming, but you could tell he had to "perform"for the kids. My partner amd I were extra annoyed because the family in front of us saw fit to bring their 3 to 4 year old child who complained loudly throughout about not wanting to be there. They had to leave the theater twice. All in all, I'm glad I went, but I hope the tour manager reads these reviews. This could have been a chill, adult night and ticket sales would not have suffered.

  • A great time

The experience during the movie was okay. People kept talking.. whether they were repeating it word for word, or having personal conversations, and taking their phones out (which was not allowed) but the employees of the venue should have approached these people and did not. Macaulay was great! Super personable, had a lot to say and was very engaging. He did a trivia game with kids which was great.

  • Macaulay was great!

Macaulay Culkin’s talk afterword was sincere and informational. However, I was not impressed by the moderator. Macaulay‘s moderator did not show any enthusiasm or personality, and it is not right to make the star do all the “heavy lifting” to get the crowd going! On a sidenote, the ushers at the venue were telling people the wrong seating sections, so there were several people who were seated in the wrong section and had to get up during the movie to find the right section. I have never had this problem at the Oakdale theater before.

  • Great experience, would do it again

Fun to watch a classic on a big screen and McCauley had a great interview after the movie , fun to hear history of where the movies idea came from

  • Really???

The movie and Macaulay were fine. The huge ads about erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence were not. This was a family event with many children. What were Hartford Healthcare and Toyota Oakdale Theatre thinking???

  • A wonderful evening with Macaulay

I felt the ticket price for the Movie and VIP meet & greet was worth it. I do not have kids, but liked that he would take time with children. This might be the first time these kids are meeting a celeb and it was great that he made an effort to make it special for them. Side Note: I think there was some disconnect between the a Ticketmaster, the Venue and Macualy’s manager. We received an email that said NOT TO BRING gifts. At the venue, Macyaly’s Rep said that you COULD GIVE Macaulay a gift as long as it was not wrapped. Lots of people who followed the rules from the communication were upset to hear they could’ve given Macaulay a gift.

  • Horrible

by Don't waste your money on 12/17/24Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 1 out of 5

We literally watched the movie on the smallest screen ever, in a pretty decent sized arena. Then afterwards, all we did was listen to Macaulay Culkin talk about himself. You would think for an event that cost as much as it did, he would've been more involved during the movie. Would never go again, complete waste of money.

  • Great show!

It was a great experience to be able to watch Home Alone on the big screen and then see the star in real life. Macauley Culkin was so personable and engaging. I would go see him again.

This was a fun, nostalgic evening. It was great seeing the movie in the big screen again and Macaulay was quite engaging.
