Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Plenty of dirt mixed with tears.

by Tuna on 5/5/23Jefferson Theater - CharlottesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Great evening with Lu offered in an intimate environ. Drawing deeply from World Without Tears, and signature songs across her repertoire, her vocals remain pure and true. Her band was aces. Sadly, after her stroke, she no longer plays guitar. Hat off to her for touring at all. Despite the disappointment, her stage presence was singularly impressive.

  • love Lucinda

by Jeff on 10/6/22The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda's show at the Walker Theatre was fantastic. I jumped at the chance for second row seats, fully knowing her recent stroke had given her limited mobility. Having seen Lu with Bonnie Rait a few months ago, it was great to see her making a return to her former self in terms of singing and her usual between song talking. The band was definitely great this evening, and Lu appears to be getting back to her old perfectionist self. Two new songs were shared, which sounded like they had been a part of the show for years. In terms of the theater, I was very impressed with the sound quality- I had seen Emmylou Harris at the Tivoli previously, and was not expecting very good acoustics. The Walker was miles ahead of Tivoli in terms of sound, which was a pleasant surprise. All in all a good show, and for Lu fans who are on the fence you can expect a great show despite the health setbacks.

  • Atop Lookout Waiting for Lucinda

by JohnofArt on 10/5/22The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

I have traveled to Marietta to see Lucinda a few years ago. I have gone to traveled to the Walker Theatre in Chattanooga to hear her two times in the last three or four years. Of all three performances, last Saturday night's show was the best. I found her singing to be the best of all the shows I mentioned. While the stroke has left her unable to play her guitars, this temporary infirmity did not prevent her from wowing the audience with her songs and stories. This intimate theater was just the right place for her intimacy. Even when her songs become metaphoric (Large Black Train, as an example), her lyrics remain personal and confessional but not in a whiny way; this is true whether she is confessing her struggles or the struggles of men and women she has known. Sometimes little is said about the audience, but those in attendance were like me, Lucinda fans. And as she said near the middle of her show, after receiving another standing ovation, "Y'all keep on you gonna make me cry." It was a wonderful performance. Heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time--watching her take her right hand to clap into her left, partially drawn from the stroke. I will be back to Walker to see Lucinda on her next visit. She loves Lookout Mountain. Lookout Mountain and the surrounding area loves Lucinda. We will run our car wheels over a gravel road to hear her. She need not look in Slidell or West Memphis, she can find her joy in Chattanooga.

  • Intimate Show

by emilydixieson on 10/4/22The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show at the Walker Theatre full of ballads of misfits and other hits. Lucinda it still rocking in the real world!

  • Awesome show!

Lucinda was very engaging with the audience and she can sing!

  • She is amazing.

by TJ on 10/3/22Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

She is a fighter and though her body wasn't able to dance and move a lot, her soul did. I admire her lobe for her music and her fans.

  • All things considered, probably your best chance to see her

by Breezy on 10/3/22Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda has been going thru some health issues and they show in her performance. However her voice is still the same Lucinda we've been hearing and her vast library of outstanding music makes her a must see if you've never done so. She has some interesting stories to tell as well. It's a good time and her band is still bright and strong.

  • Real good

by Rita Elaine on 10/3/22Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to several Lucinda Williams shows. The best ever she put her heart and soul into this one.

  • Amazing concert!

by Dave and Tina on 10/3/22Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Lucinda Williams in concert was an amazing experience! Her band was incredible as always and Lucinda despite her fairly recent stroke can still kick it! We loved the intimacy of the venue. The Madison theater did a Great job of keeping everybody taken care of! I love you Lucinda! Keep rockin’ on!

  • Lucinda was AWESOME

    by jrock14 on 10/3/22Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Sort of a Bucket List show for me, I have always wanted to see her perform and finally got the chance in a smaller venue. I don't think I have ever had such an emotional experience at a concert. Getting to hear a beautiful song like "Lake Charles" and the story of the people in the song, and how they are no longer here was amazing. I found myself wiping away a tear as her great voice sang the lyrics. The band was tight and really, really great. The guitar playing of Stuart Mathis was wonderful, some great solos! It was quite a night!

  • Lucinda rocks!

by Marsh on 9/27/22Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

Loved seeing Lucinda! She’s incredibly strong and brave to perform after her stroke. The beautiful thing is she’s still got it! You can’t keep a good woman down.

  • Killed It

by Karl on 9/27/22Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

She's still got all of it. Her band was insanely good. As one would expect.

  • Lucinda Williams at the Barrymore

by Doug on 9/27/22Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda a delightful storyteller and musical artist. I enjoyed hearing her reflections on the characters who have inspired her songs. Her style is timeless. Her band was a fine group of polished virtuosos. Everything clicked, the venue was intimate, the crowd was respectful and appreciative.

  • Best Ever Lucinda

by Steve on 9/27/22Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was great and Lucinda sang better than ever. The band was top notch also.

  • Gutsy performance

by Bill on 9/27/22Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 4 out of 5

To see her perform post stroke is like a miracle. Her voice remains 5 star, her memory pretty good , her ability to move , not much The concert focused on dead men she knew and songs she wrote about them 😔 I’m sure the stroke put her in touch with mortality. A very worthwhile evening watching her gritty performance

  • Outstanding

by Rez on 9/27/22Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

Small venue but certainly felt like a historic event. I have listened to her music since the beginning of her career but never got the chance to see her before. This was a great concert, she sang incredibly and the size of the room made it awesome!

  • WONDERFUL SHOW IN GREAT THEATER

by CHEEKY MONKEY on 9/25/22Kalamazoo State Theatre - KalamazooRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to hundreds of shows and this one ranks in the top 5 ever. Great seats, great sound, great band and a well crafted set list. Lucinda has written so many great songs and she has a unique and distinctive voice. Was not aware of her health problems when I bought the tickets but she overcame them and delivered a memorable performance.

  • Lucinda Shines!🌞

by Carl Rema on 9/24/22Kalamazoo State Theatre - KalamazooRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda and her band were top notch!! Always a great time seeing Lucinda and this was no exception!! The State Theater is a beautiful venue to see a show! Added to the experience!

  • It was great to see Lu with her top notch band.

by Connie Strings on 9/24/22Kalamazoo State Theatre - KalamazooRating: 5 out of 5

We’ve seen Lu quite a few times, and when we heard Doug Pettibone was back in her band we booked the closest location to us. The musicians in her band are outstanding, interplay great. We knew that Lu suffered a stroke not long ago and can’t play guitar right now, but it was honestly unnerving to see the physical toll it’s taken on her. Her voice was strong and unusually clearer than in the past. Her choice of songs was just outstanding. She is such a unique songwriter, both melodically and lyrically. When the band took off on ‘Righteously’ it was reminiscent of Hendrix ‘Electric Ladyland’, free and floating. And the take on ‘Get Right with God’ was unforgettable.

  • Just the BEST!!!!

by xflowerchild on 9/24/22Kalamazoo State Theatre - KalamazooRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda and her awesome band gave a hell of a show! Lucinda's performance was as good as I always hoped it would be when I finally made it to a concert!! She is inspiring. She keeps it real and she is so down to earth!!! She shared many stories about what she was feeling or who she was remembering when she wrote a particular song. I have been a fan forever but this was my first show! An earlier show I had awesome tickets for was cancelled due to pandemic. But fate rewarded me, not only did I have front row seats, I got to meet Lucinda briefly after the show and she was kind enough to let me get a photo with her!! I can't express enough how real and down to earth she is. And The Kalamazoo State Theater has great sound and is the perfect venue for an up close and personal concert feel!
