It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.
Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.
My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.
The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.
Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

Lucinda Williams is still one of the greatest storytellers, her voice is better than ever and just so raw. She’s a must see!!!
Lucinda continues to inspire. Buick 6 has to be one of the tightest bands ever! Just awesome!
Lucinda Williams, Oct. 17, Ann Arbor, MI: it was great. LW's band was phenomenal - guitars, bass, drums, other. They were great on solos and in group. LW had enough energy for this show despite her physical challenges. She played favorites and lesser-known songs.
Despite still feeling the effects of her recent stroke, I love that Lucinda felt safe enough with her fans to go on the road and present her autobiographical show. Her stories and music kept the crowd enchanted an entertained!
The Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor is a beautiful venue. Lucinda Williams and her band Buick 6 are amazing. Great concert! The concert volume was perfect, i.e. not too loud.
So great seeing Lucinda fight her way back. Taking us through her life with her words and music. As good as it gets!
Having loved Lucinda Williams' music for many years, this was a disappointing show. The music was still great, as usual, but she did way too much talking between songs. Many of her "stories"tended to wander and drift aimlessly and the show began to drag along. It seems like there was more talking than performing playing music - not what we wanted (and paid) to see and hear. Pretty disappointing!
Unlike too many artist with a new record, Lucinda played songs from throughout her career with stories about each song accompanied by wide-screen videos. Her voice was as strong as ever and Doug Pettibone was back on lead and steel-pedal guitar. It was a great show that brought up emotions from my own personal history.
Her voice was terrible and all she did was talk and the band was sub par…We really expected more…,
She was an amazing storyteller and I loved finding out what a hip woman she is by seeing her live. So glad I was able to see her and will again when she comes back through.
I have been a huge Lucinda fan for years, but have never seen her in person. I was surprised when two assistants brought this little old, slightly overweight, gray-haired lady to the stage, and with some effort helped her into her chair. She sat quietly for an uncomfortable amount of time before finally looking up. Her first words were, "Some of you may not know, I had a stroke a year and a half ago. A hush came over the crowd. She then began a narrative telling us her life story, to be filled with songs. She rambled on, sometimes losing her train of thought, sometimes repeating herself. More than once she led us into the song only to interrupt the band as it began to play, and speak some more. Sometimes she stopped speaking and looked vacantly at the audience. She even apologized to the crowd for her performance a couple of times. The audience by now understood the effort she was making and was supportive. In these hard times, people yelled, "We love you, Lucinda, You go girl,"and more. Once she put her hands to her heart in appreciation. In terms of the actual performance, the show wasn't very good, but the effort made by Lucinda and the reaction of the crowd was outstanding. Now I wish I had seen her before her stroke, but I won't go to see her again. I want to remember her just the way she was that night. God Bless Lucinda Williams. I love her more than ever!
The band was tight and her voice was as strong as ever. I loved the format, getting a chance to hear why she wrote a certain song and what inspired her. So glad I went, there may be fewer opportunities in the future.
I was unaware that Lucinda had a stroke and was taken aback that they had to walk her on and off stage and she can’t plAy guitar anymore- her voice still great - I could have done without Get the Band Back Together and The other side of the truth (new) - hoped for Out of Touch from previous night set list but changed to Crescent City (since in Nola) — great venue with good sound
Lucinda can still deliver her beautiful, haunting lyrics with the vocal strength she's always had. The drummer was killing it! Rock on Lu!
nice venue, Lucinda sounded great. Man is she making me feel old.
The venue was lovely. Lucinda was an inspiration. She came back after having a stroke. Her voice was strong, and her stories were entertaining. I ended up purchasing a double album and her book! So glad that we went.
I hate everything about Ticketmaster, the ridiculous prices and excessive service charges. Anytime I can go to an event that is not a Ticketmaster event I am happy.
I surprised a couple of relatives with tickets, so it was special before Lucinda took the stage. But, my oh my, what a wonderful evening. Lucinda's sweet voice just oozes over you, lifts you up and you smile. Big smiles. Smiles you feel down to your toes. All four of us remain in the afterglow.
Lucinda remained try to herself and the audience. Her band is world class incredible musicians who took the music to the next level.
Lucinda Williams — recovering from a stroke — needed assistance to the stage but her voice was as good as ever. The band was phenomenal. The crowd large and enthusiastic. Great show.
