Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Lucinda in retrospect

    by jr99 on 10/15/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Of course Lucinda rocks - but she also rolls as she did Wednesday night in the second show of her 3 day retrospective. Sometimes raw and maybe a bit confused, she reached back to her second decade for a night featuring Car Wheels on Gravel and Sweet Old World. I went to hear the ballads and was blown away by the blues. She really hooks into this older work. The more she rocks, the more she relies on Buick 6 - they never let her down - but when she goes back to her folk-blues-country roots, she's all there.

Call it the economy or a slow Tue. but that is the smallest crowd I've seen at the Parkwest. It suited me though because it left more vibe for the people that made it out to the show. Simply awesome performance! Great band!

  • Lucinda Williams - Car Wheels - Amazing

by thenicknamethingisahassel on 10/15/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Of course, Car Wheels is always on my list of the 10 best records of all time, so a chance to see Lucinda do some of those songs live in a small venue was irresistible. She and her band were great in every way. Recreating these great songs, and adding texture and immediacy. Playing some lesser-known ballads. Her voice just knocks me out. Sound was the best I've heard live in a long time - maybe ever. Hope she turns these shows into a live record.

  • Lucinda was Mellow

    by Ace1978 on 10/15/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

This was my second time seeing Lucinda. The first time was at Red Rocks and the venue definitely made the first concert more enjoyable than the Park West show. She admitted taking advantage of the intimate setting at Park West by singing more ballads than normal. Although they were nice songs, they kind of made me want to head to bed early. The rock songs were great and what I love best. Left before the second set, but only because we were too tired to last on a Wednesday. Good show overall.

Great setting. Incredible backing band. She's passionate and and loves what she's doing and it was obvious during her performance. Although she felt like Steal Your Love wasn't great it was actually the highlight of the show for me.

Great to hear songs rarely done live and some fun covers, but the setlist needs editing.A good band but a little ragged at times. The ballads are strong but the rockers are often cathartic.

  • What a Night!!

by JoeCapp on 10/13/09Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 5 out of 5

Simply put, Lucinda ROCKED and asses were kicked!!

  • Lucindra rocks but without her usual energy

by Mirk on 10/13/09Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 4 out of 5

Lucindra played great songs but something was off. The energy was off and she seemed distracted. But she handled whatever was the problem like a pro, determined to give the audience a quality show and "not rip you off." Buick 6 was fab; carried the show at a couple of points. Theater erupted with excitement - but at the end of the performance . It was like a switch was pulled and it became a different place. Strange experience but showed another aspect of Lucindra. Still recommend her concerts

  • Nice Venue

by theurbanfirefly on 10/11/09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Lovely show. Too bad no opening act, as the tickets stated doors open at 7pm but no music until Lucinda took the stage at 8:30... What a missed opportunity for a local band. Great acoustics and comfy bar round out the setting. Free sushi was passed around to nibble on, which was a nice touch.

  • disappointed

by lucaria on 10/10/09Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 1 out of 5

kept audience waiting for about 45 minutes, before she finally appeared after opening act. Had definite issues with drummer, which should have been addressed while both were off stage, not on stage.

  • LUCINDA IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST

by Bigfolkie on 10/9/09Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 5 out of 5

I got into Lucinda in the early days and have been a fan ever since ; her raw ,ballsy , AUTHENTIC music is a joy in this plastic pop world....may she play forever

  • Slow start, furious finish

by mrtao on 10/9/09Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 4 out of 5

Well once under way the sound was poorly mixed and by Lucinda's announcement, "out of synch" and she could sound better and soon after she did! After the first 5-6 songs she regrouped and things got alot better. It was a good show not a great show. I saw her in 2007 at Radio City Music Hall...AMAZING ACOUSTICS... she thought so to and told the audience as much.

  • Lucinda Williams ...WOW !

    by MattewT113 on 10/9/09Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 5 out of 5

Off the charts show at an awesome venue. Lucinda lets it all hang out for a heart wrenching 2hrs plus performance. Trust me, all it takes is the first 30 seconds, when that haunting voice and Gibson acoustic fills the theatre solo, and you're hooked. But Lu's show is so much more, country, blues, rock, steel guitar, mandolin, harmonica, stand up bass, washboard. Everything from authentic back porch Hank Williams to AC/DC. All with raw emotion, unbridled enthusiasm and crediblity. Lu's band Buick 6 lays down an instinctive compliment of sonic textures that guide her through a dynamic journey on a musical rollercoaster. No one knows what's coming around the next corner as she rips through pages of a songbook centerstage. If you love raw, edgy, unscripted, unpredictable, emotion then Lucinda Williams is for you.

she rocked great venue great crowd met some cool folks i was the guy who asked her "who's the guy in the suit?" which prompted her then to introduce the entire crew she rocked but i already said that love the bardavon

  • Lucinda is too cool

by Wolfeama on 9/30/09Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. Opening set was the Buick 6, and instrumental set that was excellent, and then the band turned out to be the backing band for Lucinda. Her set included selections from each of her albums, including the title track from each album. Venue was great, not too crowded, but an enthusiastic crowd cheering her on.

  • Lucinda Williams Did Rock the Bluebird

by IndianaFats on 9/24/09Bluebird Nightclub - BloomingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Yes, the Bluebird in Bloomington, IN was rocked on the 23rd by Lucinda Williams and her band, "Buick 6". She has built a setlist from all her albums, one, two or three songs each in chronological order from her first Folkways album to her most recent release, "Little Honey". Her usual combination of folk, country and rock did not disappoint the mixed crowd of long-time Lucinda fans and the spectacle seekers who woke up the next morning finding themselves to be new Lucinda fans.

  • Great Talent!

by lornadee on 9/24/09Bluebird Nightclub - BloomingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda was everything I expected. Her selection of songs was well balanced including softer, more tender tunes all the way to out and out rockin' out! Her band, Buick 6, put on a fabulous performance...all members displaying excellent musicianship. I didn't rate the event 5 stars because of the late start of the performance. The show was billed as a 7:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. event but didn't begin until well after 8:00 with Lucinda appearing sometime after 9:00.

  • Lucinda Williams' Wedding Show

by MadMac on 9/24/09First Avenue - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda was in fine voice and obviously very happy. Any Lucinda show is worth seeing, but this one was made even more special by her sharing her wedding with us. The only minor quibble I had was the replacement of her long-time guitarist Doug Pettibone. Pettibone is a great guitarist and he was missed.

  • The female Bob Dylan.

    by peaches82 on 9/24/09Bluebird Nightclub - BloomingtonRating: 5 out of 5

She is utterly amazing. The show was remarkable. I will see her again and again. I love you Lucinda.

  • Lucinda . . . always a new show

by fireinthedawn on 9/24/09Bluebird Nightclub - BloomingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Lucinda in June at The Vogue. It was the first time she had been to the midwest in 2 years. It was a full out "concert." Great energy and we had no idea she had that many fans. Last night in Bloomington was a totally different show. Intimate and up close. We were really expecting the same show again. Loved the differing styles. Tshirt sales people were rude. The facility was horribly HOT.
