Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Lucinda Williams/Buick 6- Not to be missed

by Quartzmountain on 10/24/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

After traveling from Seattle we were able to see 2 of her shows. Both were perfect. We can't wait to see her again. Hopefully she will come back to the west coast again soon...VERY SOON! Thank you Lucinda and Buick 6 for original music.

  • Great

    by Dancing1 on 10/20/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda is a pure, honest performer with soulful, heartbreakingly honest music and lyrics. Her show was no fuss, no muss, down to business and I thought it was a refreshing break from the circus you sometimes run into. The crowd was great, she seemed a little sad. But I had a great time, she sounded great.

  • Lucinda was excellent

by Anonymous on 10/19/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda's voice was superb. She played a long string of hits and each was performed very well!!

  • What a band...

by Anonymous on 10/19/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Her band was stunningly good. Even better than the last time (which I didn't think was possible).

by greebg on 10/19/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

preferred the band with Doug Pettibone on guitar. Also, end of tour night, I think they were more tired than excited. If the set was limited by Pageant's curfew, then they could have started earlier......

  • Lucinda rocks the house

by Octaviani on 10/18/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

With her fantastic band Buick 6, Lucinda Williams' last concert on her tour, a retrospective of her 30 year career of recording, was unforgettable. Her song selection was very representative of her songwriting skills. She had two guitarists, both of whom could play the lead licks. And that voice! So powerful and strong, raspy, breaking and soulful. I love the music of the Mississippi Delta, the blues covered by so many African-American greats. Lucinda is musically and thematically descended from this uniquely American art form.

excellent show, sound supurb, backup band could not be beat, bar prices extreemly high

  • Lucinda was not as anticipated

by snore on 10/18/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 2 out of 5

Unfortunately, I felt Lucinda was a let down. There was NO punch in her delivery. And I couldn't believe she had to have the words posted on a music stand in front of her. She definitely played a lot of songs, but it was by far, far from memorable in a positive sense.

My husband and I never miss Lucinda when she hits The Pageant. As usual, she didn't disappoint. What a show! Her band, Buick 6, was incredibly tight. The evening was a classic combination of typical soulful lyrics and wild rock 'n' roll. WOW!

by boredtodeath on 10/18/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 1 out of 5

This was the first concert I've ever been to where I was bored out of my mind. It seemed like a very half hearted performance, like she didnt want to be there. Lucinda had to read her own lyrics from a song book. Even songs she has been singing for over 20 years. There was a good 30 seconds to a minute of silence between every song, like they didnt know what was coming next, and this was the last night of a long tour. I can't imagine how bad the first night was!

  • Lucinda was weary...

by hoppin on 10/18/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 3 out of 5

I love Lucinda, own everything she's released. But... she lacked energy and the constant changing of instruments after 90% of the songs was very distracting.

  • Lucinda is hot!

    by BBSTL21 on 10/18/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Very nice presentation of most her best songs. Very tight band behind her helped make that presentation possible. Why Lucinda lets this talented group of musicians waste forty five minutes before the show performing some cosmic instrumental that encompasses the theme from Perry Mason is beyond me. Why not tour with an up and comer who could use the exposure?

  • What a show!

by Anonymous on 10/18/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams really rocks. Her ballads were beautiful, her rocking numbers were great. She covered Fats Domino, Jimi Hendrix and AC/DC all in one set. The first set was as advertised. She played almost all of Car Wheels. Simplicity of stage (a single lava lamp served as the only stage decoration), just great music. Her band, Buick Six, were impressive.

  • soulful

by Citywalkers on 10/17/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Park West is a great venue with friendyl staff. Lucinda's singing and songs were very personal and soulful. We saw a master storyteller with a great rock and roll band (Buick Six). The tempo varied from slow, heartfelt songs to flat out rockers. The crowd around us seemed to be into every word and note of Lucinda's songs. A great show.

Lucinda was amazing!! Best I've heard her in a while and the band could really rock!

  • L.W. CAN SWOON AND BELT OUT VOCALS

    by BMAC08 on 10/16/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

HEY LISTEN!! LUCINDA WAS TERRIFIC ON THURS NIGHT.... SHE IS TERRIFIC EVEN WITHOUT THE MUSIC BACKING.... WISH I WENT ALL 3 NIGHTS

  • Lovely Lucinda

by MidwestWoman on 10/16/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda was so fun last night! Such a groovy blues groove- fun stories and a general love-fest all around. Quite the chanteuse! And she started on time- and rocked for hours. So cool that Lucinda offer her merchandise at a seriously reduced rate in respect of the recession. Thank goodness for the freaks!

  • Good show, more standing room needed

by parnellsf on 10/15/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda Williams put on a very good show, even when her back-up band Buick 6 screwed up the guitar effects on one song requiring them to start over (turned out to be funny). Park West needs to get rid of the tables on the main floor as there is no way you could sit and see the band.

  • by Anonymous on 10/15/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

She started out with Memphis Pearl which was great, her voice is amazing, she is truly talented. Only thing is some of the songs sound a lot alike, more so the ballads. When she rocks, it is so full of energy and fun. Loved the show, buick 6 is an amazing band and they make great music

  • Lucinda...smolders

    by jojo413 on 10/15/09Park West - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda started out low key and comfortable and the show got progressively better through the night. Buick 6 are a great band, they're tight and pull some amazing sounds out of their amps. The drummer is deceiving... he looks like a traditional country boom slap drummer until he kicks it up a couple notches. The Park West, what an awesome venue.
