Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Lucinda ALWAYS Rocks!

by lezlieslove on 8/20/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams at the Mountain Winery...how could you get any better than that! She is amazing and has a true and genuine stage presence! Always! The ONLY thing that was off base...cutting Lucinda Williams' sound in the middle of her last song-beacuse it went over the 10:30 time frame! RUDE! INEXCUSEABLE by this venue! MANY were talking about it as the theatre emptied. I am sure tickest will be lost due to it! LUCINDA SHOW ROCKED! WINERY SUCKED!

First, Robert Earl Keen blew me away - never heard of him before and he and his band were fantastic - they worked the crowd, sang well, played well - a great act, opening or main. That said, REK was better than Lucinda Williams, who was disappointing. Granted Ms. Williams is a talented songwriter & storyteller. She pours her life experiences into her music and they are great and interesting stories. How she uses her music to communicate these stories is rather monochromatic. The songs varied little, Ms. Williams read or misread her songs from her song book, and generally sounded the same throughout the night - rather flat and uninspiring. REK has fine musicians and I will help spread the word. Lucinda, practice more with your band before touring - the lack definitely showed!

Lucinda was very honest and connected to the audience, as usual. However, as she was doing her encore, the lights and sound were turned off on her mid-song, at exactly 10:30. Very humiliating for the artist, and as an audience member, i was highly unimpressed with Mtn. Winery's way of dealing with the curfew.

  • Loved it all - fantastic show!

    by tyko1 on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

So much fun! Lucinda, Robert Earl Keen & both bands were incredible! The audience was super enthusiastic and having a great time.

  • Lucinda get's better with age!!!

The Mountain Winery is a great venue even thoughthey pulled the plug at 10:30 pm....the new material due in October rocks...Robert Earl Keen was great also

  • Why did they turn on the lights?

by ElloBello on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 4 out of 5

Great Show - Robert Earl Keen was very country and very enjoyable, band good, The Road goes on forever. Lucinda debuted new songs with a new band and played the older loved ones.. Lead guitar from "Jack Shit" was excellent and certainly knew Lucinda and played all the notes of the older songs perfect. Drummer Butch from San Francisco was also excellent. Bass Player on electric and acoustic brought new excitement to the songs. Bass player also brought new excitement to all the females around me A rude ending with The Mountain Winery Turning On The Lights Before Lucinda Finished Her Encore

  • Lucinda Rocks, Val McCallum Kicks it Way Out

by HandkerchiefJoe on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 4 out of 5

Robert Earl Keen opened the show with songs of vivid and humorous lyrics and solid guitar and rythym section behind. He went a little long which cut into Lucinda show at the end, the venue put on a strong light and cut the power and that was that. I discovered once again that i don't like concert seating, I thought the show was a little laid back and deliberate. But I was there to see Lucinda and her guitar player and I was not disappointed. She held us in her hands and opened up her heart and her life in her songs and we were in love again. She paid a great compliment to her guitar player, Val McCallum at the finish of one of his fat and highly dramatic riff finishes, by exclaiming to him that he kicked serious ass and he had done that no question about it. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, but I much prefer the Filmore with its festival venue where you can wander on the floor and move and hang below the stage and adore the woman.

  • Lucinda Williams not up to previous performances

    by wsh65 on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 2 out of 5

Having seen Lucinda Williams previously at the Mt. Winery and wowed enough to drive to Oakland to see her perform at The Paramount Theatre with George Jones, I was very disappointed in last nite's show at the Mt. Winery. After being pumped up by her opening act, Robert Earl Keen, the audience waited over half an hour for Lucinda and her band. It seemed to take her awhile to get into her songs. The mixing was not so good either; her vocals were taken over by the great guitar playing making her expressive lyrics difficult to understand until improving some further into the show. She seemed to warm up a bit and shared some stories or insights into her songs, but she never brought it, never seemed completely present, as in previous performances. I know we all have our off days. I guess last night was one for Lucinda. It was too bad because I brought friends to introduce them to Lucinda's great music, and it fell flat last night. Going to cheer myself up with some of Lucinda's songs on my ipod.

  • Lucinda Williams was a little ditzy

by Anonymous on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

Her voice was amazing but she forgot lyrics in a few songs and had to start over. Robert Earl Keen was AWESOME. Great voice, really tight band. He had a really good repore with the crowd.

  • lucinda is the best

by luvlucinda on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

really great show, unfortunately Winery/Saratoga folks shut her down early which was unprofessional and embarrassing, as well as unnecessary. she of course is just amazingly authentic, the new music is phenomenal, just when you think she can't top her last album, she escalates to a new level. love growing old with her and talking about the challenges you face getting older or getting dumped or finding out someone isn't who they think they are. love her, love the vibe, I don't like to see anyone else live but her.

Really great show! Can't wait for the new album to be released

  • by Anonymous on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 1 out of 5

I went primarily to see RE Keen and he was excellent - his band ROCKED! Lucinda was really BAD - off key, maybe drunk. We left after two songs

  • Lucinda in the night with diamonds!

    by Skanin2thebeat on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Wondrous show and Lucinda can sure pick an all-star cast! Val Mccallum on guitar, Butch Norton on drums and David Sutton on bass...amazing sounds from this crew. Lucinda belted the songs with force and soulfulness. They played many new songs off the upcoming CD and it was really fun to see them bring the new material to life. "it's our babies" she says as she stumbles over a line but returns to correct it in the next bar!!! Great story teller and quite human! This will be the 3rd show that I've witnessed the Mtn Winery cutting the power to an artist due to the 10:30pm curfew...got it say they are totally prompt on that mark!!!

  • L. Williams not as personable as expected

    by Ricastar9 on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

I have some nostalgic memory of watching Willie Nelson play at the Mountain Winery years ago and it being a really really small venue with lots of communication and eye contact between the audience and Willie. The renovation of Mountain Winery leaves it feeling like an amusement park: very dis-attached, impersonal and sold out. Lucinda herself provided a good show with a very talented backup crew. There are so many brilliant songs she has that I wish were played and I found myself disappointed that she wasn't responsive to crowd requests. Some of her new songs were great, but I felt that she could have left a couple out and stuck with some of the classics.

  • Lucinda Williams with special guest Robert Earl Ke

by vardsk on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

Keen was excellent. Not so Lucinda, just to casual and forgetful. Could it be she has mellowed out? No energy to her show. This was the sixth Lucinda concert, and the worst by far. The preview of her new album was flat as the songs. Great venue. I give Keen four stars and Lucinda two. She has to get it together with her song book and memory. Vince Gill is not dead!!!

  • All I can say is "Wow"!

by loveTP on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

I have never been to a concert where the opening act received a standing ovation and came back on for an encore! Robert Earl Keen is unforgettable! Then, it went from great to fantastic when Lucinda took the stage. Her voice literally brought me to tears. Any chance I ever get to see either one of them live again, I’ll take!

  • REK was GREAT. Lucinda . . .not so much

by CoyoteBoy on 8/19/10Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

REK kicked off right on time (7:30) with a few new ones from the Rose Hotel followed by many of his classics. Crowd was into it w/dancing in the isles and singing in the seats. Lucinda (bless her heart) had an off night. Had to continuously look down to read the lyrics to every song (even for her most popular songs). Concert started out great but ended up a disappointment.

  • Lucinda and Chrissie - a dream date!

by ConcertWomanJGB on 8/19/10Ventura Theatre - VenturaRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda Williams and her stripped down band performed at the historic and cozy Ventura theatre on Tuesday night. They were extremely relaxed and it was evident they were getting used to the tour and the set list. Lucinda referred to her music stand frequently for lyrics - she was in fine voice and her band has some very good musicians. The only downside was the mix - very loud and unbalanced. She performed many new songs and a few of her more familiar ones. I am always amazed at the voice that comes out of her mouth because it doesn't look like her lips move at all. The opening act deserves mention - Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders has hooked up with John Paul Jones and other musicians to form JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys. Their songs are deeply personal about their relationship and it's 30 year gap.

  • Lucinda and her band was AMAZING

by jessicagypsyjane on 8/18/10Ventura Theatre - VenturaRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a Lucinda fan for a long long time. Last night was one of the BEST shows ever. I always thought she could not sound better than the time before, but Lucinda is getting better with time. Her voice was incredible, and her band was tight. She had two great guitar players. Doug Pettibone was her lead guitartist and he played guitar something like a guitar god. Her bass player, and drummer "Butch' was also incredible. Lucinda's new album is upbeat and sounds wonderful too. If you get a chance DON"T miss her, you will NOT regret it. A true talent.

  • by Anonymous on 10/26/09Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 2 out of 5

I think she is an incredible singer and the band is great, however on this night they just didn't seem to be on the same page and weren't clicking. I was actually disappointed, I had been looking forward to this event for sometime
