Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Lucinda amazes

by Phubbbs on 4/28/11Vogue Theatre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan of Lucinda Williams for a number of years, but this was my first show. I've attended well over a hundred show in my time, and this one was top ten easily. The song writing was stellar, and the band killed. The new guitarist on this tour is very talented. He compliments the Lucinda's songs very well. Our concert was his first. I can only imagine what they'll sound like after a few more weeks. Additionally, and importantly, the live sound was excellent and some of the best I've heard in 25 years of concert going.

Lucinda is one of the very best singer-songwriters out there and her band was stellar. Lucinda and the band work together seamlessly. a bargin at twice the price

  • Lucinda was amazing as always!

by boomernurse on 4/26/11Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Lucinda at the Madison Theater 2 years ago and she was terrific. When we got to the Madison Saturday night, we were a little chagrined to find out that they didn't have first floor seating for this event. We oldies like to sit down for concerts now. The opening singer/guitar play was an OK musician, but his music was nothing like Lucinda. Someone like Tracy Walker would have been much better. Lucinda and her band were amazing, again. I bought 3 CDs and a "blessed" T-shirt. I don't think I've bought a concert T-shirt since the Stones played Cincinnati if about 1995 or so. I'm glad the tickets were only $25. I'd see her again in a heartbeat at this price.

I would warn you about the Vogue. They sell a lot of standing room only seating. I believe 1/2 of the people at this concert had to stand. We left early.

  • Lucinda Loves her fans

by FallenBuckeye on 4/25/11Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

First, Madison is a great venue: The mix is always outstanding. Lucinda took the stage around 8:30 and rocked till well after 11:00. She mixed in some of the up-tempo songs from her new album "Blessed" which is mostly contemplative. The rest of the show were fan favorites. I have seen Lucinda 4 times now and this was her longest and most "hit" filled show. She is touring with a new guitar player from California, Blake Mills. I think you are likely to hear his name again very soon. David Sutton and Butch Norton rounded out the rhythm section. And round it out they did. This is truly a great band who seem to respect Williams as much as she respects them. If you see no other show, and believe me, I see a good deal, check out this band of four. You will not be disappointed.

  • Lucinda Williams was excellent!

What a powerful voice she has...love the bluesy/rock/country mix she's got going on! The venew was okay....reminds me of Bogarts. Standing room only. No seat with the exception of a few up in the balcony.

  • lucinda rocks!!

My first time to see Lucinda Williams! Loved the band, loved the set list, loved HER!!

  • She just keeps getting better

    by Uman2011 on 4/25/11Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

After Lucinda's last show at the Madison Theater in 2009 I thought she could't be better. Her band, Buick 6, was by far the best group of musicians she'd ever toured with. We saw her solo acoustic show in Bloomington in February, which was a low-key, magical evening of Lu and her poetry. Last Saturday she came back to the Madison Theater with a stripped down band with a killer rhythm section and a brilliant young guitar player and rocked the house. She did some new versions of some old songs, and a bunch of new material from "Blessed." She seemed to be having a genuinely good time with her band. Her show reminded of Bob Dylan's best shows, where you never know what's going to happen, and the band and the artist push and cajole each other into new interpretations of the song. If you were there Saturday night, you were Blessed.

  • Great performance by Lucinda and her band !

Another super concert by Lucinda. Great tunes, great band backing her up.

  • Lucinda rocks once she rolls

by BreezyOhio on 4/25/11Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 4 out of 5

They started the show with some good older stuff which I don't think the band had refined yet. They were still pretty good. They really hit their stride on the newer stuff though and it's a very amazing band .. really tight and playing well together as one. If she came back I definitely see her again.

A+++ show i would most likely buy from this seller again

  • Lucinda rocks again!

by Lucindafan on 4/25/11Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Lucina is in fine voice on her current tour, and her new lead guitarist is awesome. She could have played all weekend and not covered all of her songs that I love, but the set list was impressive.

  • Great performance by Lucinda Williams

by IndygoGal on 4/23/11Vogue Theatre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great 2 hour performance at The Vogue in Indianapolis. New band mates provided rousing bass, drums and sweet electric guitar. There were a couple of song mis-starts, but hey, we're all human. Good mix of music from new Blessed CD, also from Essence. It was a no-nonsense, we're here to sing show.

  • Lucinda Williams - great show!

As always, Lucinda put on an amazing show with high energy! Great band backing her up! Highly recommended!

  • Lu Rocked the Vogue

    by MscLvr1972 on 4/23/11Vogue Theatre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I had seen Lucinda live one other time when she opened for John Mellencamp. I knew then that I really liked her voice and wanted to hear her again. This was the first time I had a chance since then and it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!! The venue was perfect, very intimate, and the music couldn't have been better! Lucinda premiered a new guitarist who was on fire as he owned the guitar solos like he'd been playing them all his life (and at 23 he might have actually been playing them for a good portion!). Her bass player was sharp and dead on, and when he pulled out the upright the sound deepened and the emotion grew. Lucinda's voice was clear and her guitar was at the ready for her. But when she pulled out her silver rose guitar and her drummer amped it up, it was time to rock! The energy level rose, the crowd exploded and the band ROCKED! Lucinda and band came out after the show for 2 encores at which time she played the title song from her new album "Blessed". The show ended to unending cheers and yells for more! It was an incredible night! The nearly 2-hour show certainly didn't seem like it was that long, and the music was outstanding. Lucinda's talent speaks for itself. She is amazing and has an incredible band that allows her brilliance to shine through. I have added her to my list of artists to make a point of seeing again when she comes back to the area!

  • Yet to disappoint

  • by Anonymous on 3/16/11Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

show promoted 6pm - lucinda appears onstage 8:15. Could have had a quick dinner between work and concert. No seating in filthy Webster Hall. Groped from behind by same loser more than once. I'll wait for any act to appear elsewhere. Whatever happened to the Ritz? What a crying shame.
