Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • LUCINDA WILLIAMS

    by Wild1Bill2 on 6/27/11Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

Lucinda came on stage and the first song was a warm up for her...after that she and the band really rocked! David Linley and the drummer were so tight it really made the show. Bad stuff was we sat through a warm up guitarist (who was good) then when he was going to do his last song the Winery staff women, cut him off, told him to get off the stage then proceeded to hawk upcoming acts at the site. Really poor taste on her part and it really pissed a lot of people off. We did not pay to come to listen for an add for other shows. Then, we waited 35 minutes for Lucinda to come on stage (it only took 15 minutes to change out the set for the musicians). The long time setting up for Lucinda robbed us of time hearing her and her band...bummer! Although the show was good, most of us were disappointed with the way this was handled by the Winery staff. If this is the way future concerts are going to happen I will stop going there, after more than 20 years attending concerts when it was the Paul Masson Winery.

  • Lindley & Williams

    by 8888800000 on 6/27/11Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

I was appalled at how they kicked David Lindley off stage right after he started a song. It was RUDE and unacceptable in my opinion. And all to have someone come out and tell us about upcoming show and then 1/2 hour wait for Lucinda. Very bad management of the show..Lucinda a good but rather low.

  • Sweeeet Lucindaaaaaa !!

by VictoriaRios on 6/27/11Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda is singular. LOVE HER. No one hs the guts to give such an honest performance or write such honest songs from such a deep and feeling gut. Good Lord. The venue was beautiful but it was FAR AWAY from sausalito and I was bummed that the only parking option was 20$ cash - these are rough economic times and the tickets weren't cheap......there was literally no other option.....but whatever - Lucinda was Sensational. I just love her. Her voice in person has the force of a freight train.....chills....

  • Good concert, but not great

by PickyPaula on 6/27/11Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 4 out of 5

Yes, Lucinda's voice was wonderful. The band was terrific. But we sat in section 2 (to the far left side as you walk in) and we mostly saw her back as she faced front and to the right. She hardly talked - mostly uttering things like "This was from my last CD". No personal talk. Nothing warm and engaging with the audience, even tho people shouted out things like "How are you?" She had a song list and kept to it (we could watch as she flipped the pages). It was like listening to her CDs on a really incredibly good stereo, in the cold. I really like her music, but now that I've seen her I'll be happy just buying it and not necessarily going to another concert.

  • Lucinda not at her best.

by JBTB on 6/27/11Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 2 out of 5

I have seen her before and loved her. Thought it would be a treat at the Winery. Instead, she just didn't seem to have the energy to get the crowd into it. Felt cheated. Sorry Lucinda.

  • some what let down......

by tiaclaw on 6/27/11Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

David Lindley was cut off to sell tickets to other up coming shows ! Followed by a 20 min. break!! Very rude! I wanted to hear more of him..........

  • Not quite as advertised

by VelcroM on 6/27/11Mountain Winery - SaratogaRating: 3 out of 5

This event was advertised in the local media as "Lucinda Willams AND David Lindley". After thinking about those two musical talents combined (especially Lindley), I bought my tickets. Sadly, Lindley was just the warm-up act. He wanted to do one more song but I guess they called time. Then Lucinda came out , but didn't seem especially "warmed up" for her first few songs. But she recovered and everyone seemed happy. This was my first visit to the Mountain Winery. It's a great venue. Our seats were GA but some helpful employees led us to a section that was still partly in the sun and right behind the sound board. The sound was great when they got everything right, for both artists. But that took a little time. I'm just not sure this was the right venue for Lindley or Lucinda. The audience wasn't as into things. It was rather reserved, on the whole. P.S. This may not matter much, but the parking attendant was very helpful (taking some pain out of the $20 parking fee). He knew the answers to our few remaining questions, Also, the security guy was thorough but nice, he let me slide with my bag of shelled peanuts, asking only that we "please be neat about it".

  • Lucinda Willimas- Atlanta GA

by KManford on 6/3/11Cobb Energy Center - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda sounded great! She is awkward in her dialog between songs and should just skip it and stick to singing. Very much enjoyed the show and the arena is awesome!

  • My First Show with Lucinda Willams

by Ziggy961 on 5/27/11Mayo Civic Center Presentation Hall - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

I had just discoverd Lucinda Williams about 6 months ago (I know, where have I been?) but I have never herd her music on the radio. So when I learned that she was going to do a show just 2 hrs away I had to go. Man am I glad I did. She is amazing. The venue was small and that just made it all the better. She gave a 2 hr show and her band was very good as well. I have just fallen in love with her music, especialy the lyrics. She plays country, rock, blues, and more. If you are looking for a good show and an outstanding artist then this is it. I went by myself, drove 2 hrs (one way) and I am glad I did. Worth EVERY penny!

Great show. Excellent band! Lucinda Williams is a "don't miss" concert.

  • Lucinda was great

by RSTmusicfan on 5/20/11Mayo Civic Center Presentation Hall - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

The show was fantastic. The show built in intensity as it went along and ended like a good fireworks show with a grand finale that had everyone on their feet. Would love to see it again! The guitarist was great and got a lot of applause, but I was watching the bass player with total awe.

  • Fantastic!

Just got back from the Lucinda Williams concert. It was AWESOME. Thanks Lucinda for rock'n the sleepy town of Rochester, MN on a Wednesday night!

by 1155 on 5/6/11Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best concerts I have been to and I have been to a lot of concerts. The sound was excellent; the venue was intimate and comfortable. Lucinda put on one hell of a show--a true professional. Amazing!

  • Lucinda Williams great as usual

  • Lucinda Williams still has it!

by smarinab1013 on 5/4/11Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda's performance was amazingly good. The song choices contained many of my favorites, and her voice was strong and clear all night. Couldn't have asked for a better performance. Seats were also great- perfect view through the whole show. Highly recommend this theater.

  • Lucinda Rocked the Place Out!

by MissVa on 5/4/11Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was a phenomenal show - as expected! Lucinda rocked the house. Everyone was on their feet dancing and I wish she could have played all night. It was unbelievable and the acoustics at this venue were exceptional. I can't wait to see her again - I'm still singing her songs all day and love her music. She is a talented, unique, beautiful woman - thank you Lucinda for sharing yourself with us!!!

  • best yet.

by basepmd on 5/3/11Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

my fourth lucinda williams concert going back to 2003; my first concert at cobb energy center. pure praise for the acousitc qualities of the venue; equal or superior to my old favorite- auditorium north hall in memphis, tn. combined acoustics and strength of touring band made for an exquisite (flawless?) performance. even ms. williams offered no complaints- another first for me. her voice, again better than ever, and selection of material (including a skip james cover) were unparelleled. would have liked to hear "those three days," otherwise perfect.

What a great venue! Almost as great a show as when she opened for the ABB.

  • Hey, Lucinda, you're home

by JohnofArt on 5/2/11Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Lucinda once before, in a small venue in Knoxville and, Friday night, in Marietta. Friday night was more of a bluesy country feel--while Knoxville was more rocker oriented. Lucinda is hard to label and pigeonhole, and it sounds like I am being critical of the very thing that makes her unique. But i am not. Her band was great, the guitarists superb, and the drummer didnt miss a beat. She did a nice mix of new tunes and favorites from older works. For those who dont know, Lucinda spent some time in Macon as a young person, and I think she felt right at home.
