Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Amos and Lucinda were both great

    by RunRun2010 on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I went to see Lucinda play and loved her style, cool demeanor, voice and energy. She played songs I know and love and many new ones that I now love ;) I was positively surprised by Amos Lee; he got the emotions going with his heartfelt and energetic music. The high-point for me was when he joined Lucinda on-stage 1/2 way through L's set. Two amazing musicians!

  • One performer on the way up, the other down

by kcscout on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Lucinda Williams put a damper on a phenomenal set by Amos Lee. She seems to have forsaken her alt-country ways and become a Patti Smith punk. That may be fine for some, but wasn't what I wanted to hear.

  • Change is not always a good thing

Not at all a fan of Lucinda's evolution into the garage-band, rock genre. Tried to like it, but Amos Lee was definitely better.

  • Great Artists - Great music

by Anonymous on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing Amos Lee live. I do have all of his CDs and love his music. He did not disappoint. He was was fantastic and his band were great. I see Lucinda Williams every time she comes to the New York area. Its a shame that more people have not heard of her (despite her numerous accomplishments and accolades). She is just awesome. Great songwriter with heartfelt songs. Plus she is always backed by an unbelievably talented band.

  • Amos Lee & Lucinda Williams were unforgetable!!

Amazing vocal combination! Too bad there was only one duet!

the show was great, both performers were great, the audience another matter. why do people spend their time and money if they're going to yak yak yak and play with their electronic devices? PLEASE do us all a favor and stay home or better yet sit in the lobby and watch videos on your silly machines I don't think you know the difference

  • Lucinda Williams and Amos Lee

by Brandjams on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed the show at Beacon, July 21. Set list was awesome and band was tight. The lead guitar player is extraordinary and Lucinda was in great form. I enjoyed Amos Lee as opening act thought it seemed he was not quite dialed into PA, lyrics were a bit garbled. Will take time to listen to some more Amos Lee, I liked what I did hear!

The show was just what the dr ordered. Amos and Lucinda are perfect complements to each other.

  • 2 Great shows

by katgil on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Amos Lee is the rare artist that comes around not often enough. A voice that is in the same league with a lot of the greats. Van Morrison, Stevie Winwood, Ray Charles. He is that good and he is young. I expect this guy to be around for a long time. His live performances are better than his records which are good but not great yet. Lucinda was in good voice and a top notch band. Great sound in the Beacon overall.

  • Amos Lee stole the show

    by Byondme3 on 7/22/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Amos Lee could use a little stage presents and he could still teach Lucinda Williams everything she needed to know. Nuff Said.

  • Incredible show

by quicklyeve on 7/21/11Cobb Energy Center - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

It was, quite simply, the best music show I have ever seen. Lucinda did a wide range of songs - all your favorites, but changed them up to make them new. I cannot say enough good about the show. I felt like I was still enjoying it for days afterwards. I immediately bought more of her music afterwards.

  • Amos Lee was unforgettable, amazing.

    by ZZN12 on 7/21/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Amos Lee's set was one of the best live shows I've ever seen. He is truly amazing. Lucinda Williams did not disappoint either. I ever never listen to William's music before and thought she is very talented and puts on a good live show.

  • Amos and Lucinda put on a great show!

    by fatidz23 on 7/21/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Both Amos and Lucinda rocked! A little disappointed that they did not perform a duet together. The performers were really amazing. My friend and I saw this performance at PNC pavilion. I'veseen several shows here and have never been disappointed with the venue until now. The show was far from being sold out, in fact is was only 1/2 full. I generally don't have a problem with a couple of people moving to find better seats, but at this performance a great deal of people moved seats. Also people were gather en masses in front of the stage to take picture of the artist during the performances. It was extremely distracting during the performance.

  • Amos Lee Is a Great, New Talent

    by Edward2 on 7/20/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

My wife and I will see Amos Lee any time, any place. And the PNC Pavillion was the perfect venue. Hickory Robot was a nice surprise, playing a little bluegrass up by the free-food tent before the show. The show would have been fine if Hickory Robot opened for Amos Lee as the headliner. We would like to have heard more. They played half of the new album, "Mission Bell." All my favorites. As a headliner, he might have had time to play "El Camino." We tried to like Lucinda, but her flat vocals and inconsistent play by her guitarist forced us to leave after six songs in her set. I haven't heard a professional guitarist play so well, and then shank so many notes and drop off key during solos in a touring band before. I like the sound they were going for. But they missed it that night. But I would like to see Over The Rhine now that she sang with Lucinda. As to the venue: on a hot summer evening, the giant fan in the ceiling is a blessing. Could not hear it at all, and it kept the air moving all night.

  • Amos Lee was tremendous!!!!

by Anonymous on 7/19/11PNC Pavillion - CincinnatiRating: 2 out of 5

We got these tickets because we thought Amos Lee was the headliner.......he was TREMENDOUS. Had never heard Lucinda Williams before and was shocked about how bad her performance was. She was bland, read her lyrics after the 3rd or 4th song and appreared to be wasted. I would highly recommend Amos Lee......he should have been the headliner! Could have listened to him the whole night.

  • Was Lucinda Williams drunk? Was Amos Lee asleep?

by Lorieanne on 7/19/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 1 out of 5

I am so very disappointed in this concert. I purchased front row center tickets mainly to see Amos. He didnt even play for an hour! It appeared to me as if he did not even want to be there. He typically engages with his audence and I saw nothing of that sort during this event. I have seen Amos live four times now and would never expect such a poor quality concert from him. Lucinda was absolutely horrible! She was staggering all over the stage and seemed as though she was intoxicated. Also, given that she does write her own songs, one would assume she would know the words. I am very disappointed that I spent SO much money to be close to the stage just to see Lu read from sheet music throughout the entire concert AND forget lyrics that SHE wrote. Like many others that were quite disappointed, I left before Lu finished her set. In my personal opinion, Amos should have been headlining. At least he knows the lyrics to hs music. I will not be recommending this concert to anyone. What a shame!

  • by tommyknocker on 7/18/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

both shows were really good. Good mix of old and new songs, the bands were good and tight. the length of the shows were just about right.

  • Amos Lee was better than Lucinda

by JoeBrim on 7/18/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 2 out of 5

I decided to go after reading about this in the paper. I expected music like Over the Rhine but I got heavy rock. The newspaper led one to believe this since the article included the relationship between the two. Some of the songs I did enjoy . The lead guitar player was featured in every song....it was hard rock and not what I had in mind.

  • Amos Lee shouldve headlined!!!

by iiexodusxx on 7/18/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

No offense to Lucinda but I couldve listened to Mr. Lee play all day long. It is a shame the place was half empty, alot of people missed out on a great talent.

  • by WILKIN on 7/18/11PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

A good show. Amos Lee was the better act. Lucinda sang to many ballads, She need to play a few up tempo tunes.
