Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present
LUCINDA WILLIAMS
THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.
It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.
Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.
My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.
For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.
With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.
The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.
Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

Awesome!
by BlossomB on 7/28/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5It's been a couple of years since i first saw Lucinda and she was just as amazing as I remembered. This was my first time at the National and I really liked it! Very low-key, easy to move around but also easy to find an unobstructed view and just hang there. Would definitely go back again and will always try to catch Lucinda whenever possible.

Lucinda was in fine form, and her band was awesome. Lead guitar, Blake Mills, was a great new discovery. Only criticism is of the venue; the sound is pretty mushy in the balcony of the National.
Lucinda - this performance not up to her recording
by EJWG on 7/28/11The National - RichmondRating: 3 out of 5While I love Lucinda Williams' songs and recordings, I was disappointed with this performance. On many of the songs her voice was practically drowned out by the electric bass, guitar and drums. The band members were all great musicians, but simply overwhelmed the vocals. Also, Lucinda did not seem particularly engaged with the audience (which was wildly enthusiastic), turning away and looking at the drummer whenever she was not singing. Finally, she did not perform some of her better songs (for example, World Without Tears), choosing to take the easy way out with songs that demanded less of her. Just to contrast, I also went to the Emmylou Harris show at Lewis Ginter and saw a truly awesome performance. She told personal stories about the songs, was in perfect balance with her larger band, and worked very hard for her audience on a very hot night outside.
Very Cool Lady!!
by Anonymous on 7/28/11The National - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5Have a few CD's by LW & have always really liked her voice. I had never seen a show at the National with seats up front but, I got a general adm ticket because I like to be able to move around at a show &, was able to get pretty close. She has such a great arua &, is very talented, electric & wooden guitar!! The backing musicians were great! Met fun people who love LW too & like me were not afraid to show that love!!!!!. Was a super great show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amos Lee surprised
by cchsman on 7/26/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5Went to see Lucinda, who was awesome with an awesome band, but Amos Lee really surprised me. Played almost as long as Lucinda, and he has an amazing, soulful voice.

I was not familiar with Ms. Williams's music but my husband wanted to go so I played along. We thoroughly enjoyed her set, but had a tough time waiting all the way through Amos Lee's set. WHY did an opening act last 1 hour and 15 minutes? The tempo on almost all of his songs was so slow and lyrics dreary that it was all I could do to keep from taking an extended bathroom break. Lucinda's songs were fun and soulful and I would say worth the wait. But give me Lyle Lovett any day!
forgettable
by leesha2325 on 7/25/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5I don't know if it was the acoustics in the beacon that nite but neither Amos Lee nor Lucinda Williams sounded like I thought they would. The music was scratchy at times and hard to understand. I'm glad I saw them but will stick to their CDs from now on.
Amos and Lucinda - Great alone and together
by SZK13 on 7/25/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5A wonderful show. Both were in great voice, the song choices were spot on, and the duets - one in each set - were great. I have a new respect for Amos Lee's voice; his range is fantastic. His band was excellent - they can really play. Lucinda rose to the occasion. She sounded great, and her band (only 4 people including her) filled the Beacon. The guitar player did it all, and, as always, the rythm section rocked. I love acoustic bass, and the numbers where the guitar and acuostic bass interacted were as fine as any jazz playing I have heard (I'm a Ron Carter fan). I only wish there was a recording of this show.
cool as ever
by Eddieboy on 7/25/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5Myself and Catie girl saw Lucinda at the Beacon in NYC. Great show! She just lays it out there on her sleeve. Holds nothing back. If you get a chance, get out and see her. Its well worth it. All the best, East end eddie.
Williams and Lee ROCK
by AndreaP on 7/25/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Lucinda Williams is timeless! I could listen to her forever! Everytime I see and hear Amos Lee he gets better and better and more soulful! Loved the show and of course I've never seen a bad show at the Beacon, what a great, intimate venue!
Lucinda williams and Amos Lee
by belle1234 on 7/24/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Simply the best concert I have ever been to. Amos Lee was so personable and I loved his songs. I really am going to get more of his CD's. Lucinda Williams was just fantastic. she came out with one of her best songs and didn't let up. I love her songs and found myself singing along to everyone. Who cares if her theme is "pain". the songs are just so soulful!!!
amos lee and lucinda williams rocked it
by quigleytwo on 7/24/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Amos lee and lucinda williams played excellently And complement each other very well

Great combo of musical talent
by jlenn on 7/24/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5These are two great artists. The combination and chemistry when they played together worked well. Would love to catch them together again. but hope for more songs performed together.
Rising Star meets the R@R Poet Laureate of Pain
by HenryMiller on 7/24/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5NYC welcomes Amos Lee into the Big Time. Mother Lucinda gushes over his singing. Lucinda's new guitarist is good, great rockabilly. But we miss Val McCallum

Music was good, Amos was the hottest thing on stage, if I wasn't married and he wasn't married we would both be single.
lucinda williams and amos lee
by chriscrip on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5I think night after night on tour was really showing in Lucinda's performance. She sang all the songs as though she were bored with having to perform one more time. Her voice was still great and when she was true to the original melodies she was better. Her newer lead guitar player was absolutely great. What intricate fingerwork! Drummer and bass were also very good. I did enjoy the cuts from her new album which I am not yet familiar.
What a memorable evening!
by selyse76 on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Amos Lee was fantastic as the openeing act, not to mention his great band and charming and humble persona. It was the first time I saw Lucinda Williams live and she blew me away. She is such a force! She is lovely and passionate on stage. Bravo! What a great night!
Pretty bad
by Number1PI on 7/23/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5Amos Lee was good, but too long. Lucinda was good, but she didn't sing her hit song. Maybe she did at the end. We didn't stay that long. The audience was awful. Two women in front of us keep moving around, and two guys next to us kept talking until we said something.
