Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Lucinda Williams at Janus Live

by Anonymous on 10/21/11Jannus Live - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5

This our 3rd time seeing Lucinda and this was the best. She is great singer songwriter and her songs are ones of brutal honesty. I can't wait to see her in February on our Cayamo cruise.

  • Lucinda Williams makes me sweat like a school boy

    by Mick59 on 10/21/11Jannus Live - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5

While Jannus Landing is a standing only venue, a place I wouldn't normally consider, the opportunity to hear Lucinda Williams trumped bodily aches and pains. Buick 6 opened with an excellent set. I love 3-piece rock groups and they are very progressive, each a consummate musician and together a big push on the edges of creative interpretation for cover songs. Love the familiar taken in new directions. What can I say, Lucinda is hot, she's humble, she's a poet, she's all heart and sensuality, and she gets to the simple truth as good as anyone. She delivered. Love her.

  • Lucinda great if you don't mind standing all night

by Whatnotwas on 10/21/11Jannus Live - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5

This was an excellent show. Lucinda's band Buick 6 opened with a 50 minute instrumental set of old Ventures style material. Lucinda's set started a touch slow but picked up as it went along and by the end things were rockin'. A very satisfying night of music. My only complaint is that the venue, Jannus Live, has maybe 50 seats for a crowd somewhere around 1500 people. If you don't want to stand for a few hours, this is not the place to go. However, outside of no seating the venue is visually very nice, good clean restrooms and reasonable prices on the drinks and food.

  • For What It's Worth..

by MissBHaven on 10/16/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Let's join Lucinda and "change the tracks under this train!" Her rendition of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" gives us a chance to sing together and say "stop, hey, what's that sound, everybody look what's goin' down." We can make our world better. We are smart and courageous, with a heart of gold. We can find many ways to be heard!

  • Lucinda rocks out!

    by Eleanor1 on 10/14/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Have heard that Lucinda is becoming more of a ballad/slow song performer and her performance tends to drag. Her show at the Pageant couldn't have been less like that. She totally rocked out for the last 2/3 of her show. She was wonderful! And, the so called "slow" part of her performance was wonderful, also.

  • Lucinda Williams was good!

    by Buddha2 on 10/14/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

There are few negative comments to say about Lucinda Williams. She is an icon in her own world of music. I have been listening to her for 16+years. The sad songs of betrayal, the songs about others in her life. A terrific songwriter. The only thing about this concert that was distracting was, she kept looking for the words of the song in a big notebook next to her. Has she always done this? I never have seen it. Besides that, the band was great, she was great, & I would see her again, but not for the cost of the ticket. Come on, were not at big auditorium!!!

  • by Wolffman on 10/14/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda was excellent. I cannot say the same for the lead guitatist. This was a different band from her last Pageant show and except for the drummer, this was a lesser band. Either the acoustics are worse from the left center balcony (last show, we sat right center lower level) or the sound was not balanced. At times the bass was too prominent. Also, at the beginning of the show, a very bright spotlight shined straight into the crowd of the balcony. I requested it to be turned off, but the usher didn't want to do anything about it. After the first song the crowd started chanting to turn it off and finally it was.

Lucinda and the band were great. Love her even more now.

  • Family friendly no smoking venue to enjoy lucinda

    by Jazmonkey on 10/11/11Billy Bob's - Fort WorthRating: 4 out of 5

Sound was great for opening act On the Rhine. Lucinda played wide range of her material. Affordable tickets; well worth the drive. Upclose acces in all reserved seating. Very intimate venue. Great show!

  • Lucinda Williams rocked the house!

    by Ridermp on 10/10/11Billy Bob's - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Lucinda Williams and her very talented band Saturday October 8th at Billy Bob's Texas. I was so impressed with Lucinda and the band - they were better than great, had tons of energy - interacted with the audience and played all of what I consider to be their best songs. Often times artists go on tour promoting a new album and play most of their new matrieal on tour. Well, Lucinda opted to perform many older songs from different CD's and really I think only one song from the new Album, the title track "Blessed". She had people clapping hands and stomping feet. They came back out for a 2 or 3 song encore. A full hour and 45 minute show - without a trace of them being tired. This is a long tour for them and I was afraid it might show, but no way. They performed strongly and the sound quality was excellent. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I have seen hundreds of live bands.

  • A don't want to miss event!!

    by KWeyes on 10/10/11Billy Bob's - Fort WorthRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed this show. She was very engaged with the crowd and made you feel more like apart of the family than just someone she was singing for. However, it would had been nicer to have had better location to play, but over all, I deeply enjoyed her and her band.

  • Lucinda rocked!

    by Jessi1126 on 10/10/11Billy Bob's - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda was absolutely amazing! She is a rocker and has such a beautiful and unique voice. Her band was amazing too!!! My only complaint is that Over the Rhine played way too short of a set opening up for Lucinda. I would have loved to have seen them play longer.

  • Lucinda was great

Great show .Lucinda was great .More versatile than I expected.Warm up band really go

  • by Anonymous on 7/30/11The National - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

Well, she seems to want to be a girl rocker now. That's ok, but not the whole show. She didn't make it big being that. If I wanted to see a girl rocker, I'd go see Joan Jet. The drummer needs to dummyup a tad and please Lucinda, in your live shows, play the slower, less loud musical and lyrical masterpieces that brought you where you are. Joan Jet is irrelavent now, I don't want Lucinda Williams to end up like that.

  • Lucinda Rocked Richmond

    by Scott128 on 7/29/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams and her band gave a great performance July 26 at the National in Richmond. There was no warm-up act, but Lucinda took the stage at about 8:45 pm and played almost two hours of songs from throughout her career. She opened up with "Can't Let Go" and "Pineola." Highlights for me were "Fruits of My Labor" and "Side of the Road." She dedicated "Little Rock Star" to Amy Winehouse. Encores were "Blessed," "For What It's Worth" (the Buffalo Springfield tune) and "Get Right With God." The venue and sound were fantastic. Hustle to see Luncinda whenever and wherever you can this summer.

  • Great show, great venue

by CJaneRun on 7/29/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams is a superb poet with a voice to match her message. Her music is deceptively simple. Over time, the depth of her stories grows and I find myself easily relating to the good, the bad and the happy times her songs portray. Her bandmates this tour impressed me with their range, from soft and sensitive to kick-@ss. As for the venue: parking was easy; the air conditioning was cranked; the margarita was delish; courteous staff; not a bad "seat" in the house. I prefer smaller venues for the intimacy factor. This was our second time at The National. Looking forward to going back again. I think Lucinda and her band enjoyed the room.

  • LUCINDA LEFT IT ALL ON THE STAGE!

    by SHEELA77 on 7/29/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

THE SINGER/SONGWRITER/STORYTELLER IS AS REFRESHING AS SHE EVER WAS. LUCINDA ROCKS HER AUDIENCE WITH A FURVER THAT IS UNSURPASSED BY YOUR TYPICAL FOLK/ROCKER. I COULD LISTEN AND WATCH HER PERFORM ALL NIGHT LONG. HER SHOW LEFT US ALL WANTING MORE, AT 57 YRS YOUNG SHE PROVES THAT ROCK IS IN SOUL AND NOT A NUMBER!

  • Lucinda rocked the National

by margierita on 7/28/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

High Energy, Lucinda was rocking and her band is oh so talented. Would have liked to have hear more from "Blessed" but I cant' complain a lick. Great show!

  • Lucinda....amazing as usual!!

    by ossie195 on 7/28/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome show....from Lucinda's brilliant lirics to the intimacy of the venue....even the sound was absolutely clear. The was an awesome event and one I will remember for some time. Even Lucinda commented on how awesome the venue was....."Like a rock club".

  • Lucinda Never Better!

by Badgeraway on 7/28/11The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen her five times in the last ten years and collected most of her recordings during that time. Being the soul-affected talent she is, I think she'd agree the performances her fans see are definitiely colored by her emotional state of the moment. I saw her in 2004 in Charleston, the last show of the tour she cancelled after her Mom died, and it wasn't nearly as upbeat as this one. Marriage apparently agrees with her! She always features tremendous and enthusiastic musicians, and this show included a coupla numbers which let them go solo for extended stanzas. The mood took on a tent-revival feel toward the end with a long-version Get Right With God, and the encore included a cool cover of Buffalo Springfield's For What It's Worth. There was a nice sprinkling of relative youth in the audience, but nobody gets a mostly fiftyish collection of white middle-class women (including my wife) bumping and grinding like Lu-Lu. You go Girl!, and keep comin' back to Richmond!
