Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

by Bluelynne on 9/26/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Music was great for the most part. Sound was well mixed except for Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs. Lucinda was in good voice and her band was excellent!

Fantastic evening with Lucinda Williams, Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs. Rocking performance in one of the SF Bay Area's nicest venues!

  • Lucinda Williams rocks!

by Robert on 9/26/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

A night of great music at the iconic Fox Theater in Oakland! Lucinda hasn't let a stroke, (which she had in 2020) slow her down. It may have been a slow recovery, but a recovery nonetheless. She no longer plays the guitar, but that's ok, she still has her best instrument, her voice. Her voice is still just as strong as ever! If you are a fan of Lucinda's and have never seen her live, you need to go check her out. She does not disappoint! Enjoy and rock on!

  • Lucinda Rocks. Mike Campbell Disappoints

by MakahaBob on 9/26/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Fox venue is historic. Been going there for 60 years. Ive seen Lucinda before at HSB years ago. I wax very disappointed in her band. I attended virtual Lucinda concerts during the pandemic. They were the best remote concerts I subscribed to. I bought all the cds. It feels like Lucinda os on a victory lap this year following her stroke. She may have physical issues but her voice is better than ever. Did alot of classics and threw in Rockin in the Free World and Wild Thing. Mike Douglas was a complete disappointment. Too loud and weak song material. Tom Petty must have toned him down in the Heartbreakers - restricted his solos. He sounded better backing Lucinda. It could be that Douglas is an excellent session musician. He trys to sound like Petty and does a good kerioke versions of Toms songs. I came to see Lucinda and she delivered. Long may she tour.

  • Lucinda n Mike Campbell n D Knobs

by Vi on 9/26/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Best concert ever!! I have enjoyed concerts from Texas to California and the Oakland Fox Theater was the best ever! From sound quality to comfortable seats our evening was most enjoyable! The Den which is attached to Fox and has its own safe entrance to Theater is a perfect spot to wait for showtime and have snacks and a drink. Show started on time at 7pm and ended around 10:30 which made for an early evening. We will definitely go again although not sure this show could ever be matched! PS. Lucinda! I’m saying this even though you didn’t give us Passionate Kisses! You will always RULE!

  • lucinda was Amazing!

    by E.A. on 9/26/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

her storytelling and soulful voice was on point. Mike Campbell and the Knobs were rocking loud, and the finale with all the guitars was phenomenal

  • I Was Blown Away

by Teej on 8/28/24Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve seen Lu several times. Her vocals have never sounded stronger. And Ramblin’ Jack Elliott… Phenomenal show. Lu, we love you!

  • Awe inspiring

At 71 after suffering a stoke Lucinda sounded fantastic and her band was just awesome! Such a great show and story.

  • Amazing comeback for Lucinda

by JB on 8/26/24Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda and her band put on a great show at the Uptown in Napa, a packed house of 863 people. Lucinda’s voice came through as clear and as beautiful as ever. I’ve seen her many times before her stroke in 2020. She had a great time, chatting with the audience, cracking jokes, and loving the love from the audience. New songs and old songs. All a treat. A great concert!!

  • Not happy

by Magy on 7/15/24The ELM - BozemanRating: 5 out of 5

I loved Lucind, however the seating was awful. I'm 75 and I cannot stand for long periods of time. I purchased my tickets very early and was not offered reserved seatin😡

  • Lucinda rocks.

by Bill on 7/12/24The ELM - BozemanRating: 5 out of 5

Had a great time. Love the venue. Lucinda was amazing in spite of her physical limitations. Her band was insane.

  • Very pleased and impressed!

by Willi on 7/12/24The ELM - BozemanRating: 5 out of 5

Her voice is as good as ever, maybe even better. Very heartwarming to see her back from the stroke. A bit of humor about not playing guitar as a result of the stroke, but that she “is relearning how to play and is getting better.” Her band is excellent, so tight and professional, high praise. If ya get a chance to see her, don’t miss it. Combination of her lyrics and voice seems so perfect!

  • Great concert!

by Diane on 7/10/24The Wilma - MissoulaRating: 5 out of 5

  • What an honor

by Trish on 7/10/24The Wilma - MissoulaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda is already a gifted singer/songwriter/musician. She was amazing on stage and her voice is as strong as ever. She is overcoming the stigma of age, stroke victim, and female artist. And her band was AMAZING!

  • A Genuine Treat

by Papa Don on 6/24/24Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I didn’t know that one of my favorite singer-songwriters, Lucinda Williams, had had a stroke. Her presence, courage, singing, and band made for an awesome show! I loved that she told stories for context for each next song. That was powerful. Her band is likewise very strong. Great electric guitar, loved it. And she performed for well over 2 hours!! Just a wonderful treat. Great songs, great performances.

  • Lucinda Knoxville

by Bryan and Lenora on 6/24/24Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was probably my favorite Lucinda experience. She was in a great voice and humor. The stories brought new life to the songs during the show.
