Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Stunning courage. Voice as good as ever

by rg on 6/24/24Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Lucinda at least a half dozen times. Maybe a dozen. I've never seen such a good show. Of course it was emotional because of the stroke. But it was clear that she writes and sings the way most of us breathe oxygen. The theme of her life history and the story behind the songs were compelling. And, her voice, in some ways, was the best I've ever heard it. As everyone does as they age, she has lost a little range, but the depth and enunciation was better than ever.

  • Fantastic Concert!

by KathyB on 6/24/24Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda was great! We have been to several of her concerts in years past. She is still as amazing as ever! We especially enjoyed her telling stories of her life and the background of the songs before singing each one. The videos and pictures brought her stories to life. We look forward to seeing her again in Knoxville.

  • Moving songs and stories

Such a great show. Lucinda sounds as good as ever and I loved that she is sharing her life stories with us. Great show and venue.

  • Heart Warming Performance

by Dpc_LW_Fan on 2/6/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

This is my fifth time at one of her shows. Due to the stroke she had a few years ago. She no longer plays guitar. She has to sit for about half of her songs. And she has to have help standing and walking. Despite these limitations she gave the fans a new and unique show. She spent more time talking to the fans about her life and gave many background stories about her songs. Despite her physical limitations, she performed for over two hours and played about 20 songs. It was a totally new concert experience unlike any other.

  • Lucinda was Amazing

Lucinda and her band really rocked it out at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. They played for over 1 1/2 hours. Her voice was so haunting and beautiful. She is a legend and I am so happy to see her live.

Beautiful venue. Perfect listening space. All seats are great and sound was incredible. Lucinda is a beautiful soul who willingly shares the vulnerabilities of this thing called life.

  • A witness to history

by CarolT on 1/31/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda is an inspiration to music lovers. We were treated to a look back at Lucinda's musical life. Her voice was strong and she was the embodiment of "The show must go on". I can't think of another artist to have a physically altering stroke and still go on tour... and SHINE.

DPAC is a great venue with an excellent staff. Lucinda Williams was awesome. She told stories and had visuals while singing a blend of old and newer songs. We had a wonderful evening.

  • Wow... recommend this show to everyone

by Kathleen, a long time fan on 1/31/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

This was a remarkable event. It was a real privilege to hear from Lucinda Williams about her life, and the "beautiful misfits"as she called them who inspired songs I have long adored. And, to have the images she shared from over the years playing as well, like having a peek into her scrapbook. It was like sitting in her living room and listening to her stories-- what a songwriter, what a storyteller, what a treasure to our culture and to music.

  • Lucinda Williams: a great American singer/songwriter

by Museocat on 11/6/23Capital One Hall - TysonsRating: 5 out of 5

This was the third or fourth time I've been to a Lucinda Williams concert, and this was the best one. She focused more on adding autobiographical details relating to her songs, while photos and videos from her life were projected on screens. She didn't play guitar (because of lingering effects from a stroke she experienced) but her voice was as strong as ever, and she performed solidly with her band for two and a half hours. It was a great concert and I'm very glad I attended. The Capitol One Center auditorium was an excellent venue for the concert.

  • Unique Concert

by Dukerap on 11/2/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

A Unique concert filled with Laughter , emotion, and great music. Lucinda Williams is a great storyteller and her band is like a guitar/drum orchestra.

  • Lucinda's Voice and Band were great!

by Jim on 11/1/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 4 out of 5

It was a different show than what we expected, but Lucinda was great. She said she had a cold, but we didn't notice and then her vocals got better with each song. Lucinda's backup band was excellent and the mix was perfect. Why 4 Stars, we miss Lucinda's rockin and guitar playing! As does she. Keep on touring!

  • Lovely Lucinda

by Lor on 11/1/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda was amazing. Her stories, her journey and her grit are so inspiring. Lucinda’s voice was beautiful and her band mates were fantastic. In spite of having a slight cold and recovering from a stroke, Lucinda put her heart & soul into this show. The concert was about 2 hours, including an encore. I’m so glad I was able to see & enjoy Lucinda Williams & her band at this venue!

  • The Real Deal!!

by JammerFam on 11/1/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda is an amazing performer and personality. This show was equal parts personal expression and musical exploration. Her band is so unbelievably good they must be seen to be believed. Truly a once in a lifetime musical experience.
