LUCINDA WILLIAMS
THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.
It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.
Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.
My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.
The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.
Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

Loved the show, great music, great guests, great stories about songs. Loved it!
I thought she sounded better than ever!! Great show with lots of energy! Loved my vip seats!
A series of best scenarios. Lucinda Williams. Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. The Ryman. Amazing band and guest musicians! What more can you say!
The Ryman is a fave venue and Lucinda had Buddy Miller, Emmylou Harris and Jim Lauderdale with her band! Great performance and she gave the backstory of each song from “Car Wheels” on its 20th anniversary. Thank you Lucinda as well as every other artist who chooses to play at the Ryman! All the time I enjoyed seeing Lucinda perform back home in Louisiana as well as around the country and this was my fave!
My first time seeing her live. She is amazing and The Ryman was an awesome place to see her. Emmylou showed us as did Buddy Guy!! Extra special surprises!!
This was an absolutely profound performance by Lucinda Williams, Stuart Mathis, and David Sutton with added musicians Jim Lauderdale, Buddy Miller, and Emmy Lou Harris! She performed all of the songs from her album, "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" with a few more as icing on the show. She prefaced the performance of the songs on how she was inspired to write the tune and the circumstances around them which made the songs that more interesting. Stuart Mathis' guitar playing and technique was stellar, playing a Gibson SG, Gold Top, and 335, a 6120 Gretch, Sutton's bass held the band together along with the drummer which I didn't catch his name. When Lucinda and Emmy Lou sang together on two songs they received a standing ovation and brought down the house. Miller and Lauderdale were icing on a great overall performance. I would rank this performance as one of the best I've seen, ranging from the original Kingston Trio to Hendrix or the Stones. If you get a chance to see her I would not pass it up as one will regret having missed it.
One of the best shows I think I’ve been to. Not because it was perfect and polished but because it was incredibly authentic heartfelt and creative. Absolutely wonderful night.
Lucinda’s unique style, love of song and transparency about the material ‘s origin made it stand out!
The artist played over 2 hours and told stories about the songs that she wrote. Her voice was beautiful and she seemed to be enjoying herself. She had guests that were great.
Great performance. Great stories! And it was so wonderful to see EmmyLou Harris and Jim Lauderdale our there with her!
Lucinda rocked it! Love Car Wheels, she played the whole album and then some! What a goddess and that VOICE really stands the test if time.
Great show! Lucinda still has her pipes. Loved the background/ intro’s she gave for each song
Lucinda Williams is the best singer/songwriter/poet around. Been a big fan for years, and went because of her. Charles Lloyd and Bill Frissell I know are great, but had not seen them before. Great show, of course, wished there was more Lucinda, but I love it when big stars collaborate with others and try new stuff. The combo and all musicians were tight and a rocking/jazzy time was had by all. Venue is fantastic, as usual.
We had heard great reviews about Lucinda, but were very disappointed. She came on stage over an hour after the band played and only sang about 5 songs. I highly recommend the Carolina Theatre, however. Smaller venue with a Broadway vibe. Every seat is great.
Amazing show but very short (only 13 songs). Drive-by-Truckers trio did a great supporting job.
Loved the songs Lucinda chose, her guitarists and drummer were excellent and the venue, while very dated, was wonderful; staff was very good. Would have given this experience 5 stars if Lucinda would have taken the time to engage and connect with the audience. I was quite surprised that she did not!
She's always great...short show...Erica was a great opening act
We have seen Lucinda many times - she keeps getting better. She was in fine voice. Her band is ABSOLUTELY EFFING FANTASTIC!!! First time seeing Drive By Truckers who rocked the house. It was a Southern night in what used to be a Southern town - the night was rock ‘n roll.
The sound system distroyed the concert. Lucinda’s exceptional voice was hidden behind the instruments and the volume of the sound system. The great musicians were distorted by the sound system and volume. I have enjoyed everyone of her concerts but this one was painful.
We’ve seen Lucinda perform at the Parker Playhouse before and this concert was a let-down. She never really captured her audience and seemed bored on stage. Some of her song choices were questionable. On the plus side, the guitarist, Stuart Mathis, was fantastic. No encore, no “Cartwheels on a Gravel Road” and the concert ended abruptly leaving the audience in dismay.
