Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Excellent Lucinda Williams Concert

    by Raul63 on 11/2/19Orpheum Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent over two hour concert by Lucinda Williams and band mates. In addition to the great music and the great singing by Lucinda, she took the time to tell a little background story on almost all of her songs. The crowd was thrilled by her story telling ability, and the conversations felt like listening to a close friend! Overall a great concert experience!

  • Lovin’ LU!

  • She is not to be missed, buy the tickets

by Dan on 11/2/19Orpheum Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

First time to see Lucinda but I’ve been a fan since Car Wheels came out. An amazing show. Her voice was spot on, her band the Buick 6 are so good I’d watch them on their own. Lucinda played the whole Car Wheels album with stories and anecdotes, then came back for a full set of her favorites followed by a long encore set. 2 1/2 hours of kick ass rock and blues from her soul. Next time she comes to the LA area, we’ll be there. Hell yeah!

  • American treasure

by The Hempress on 11/2/19Orpheum Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda is the real deal. She is a great songwriter and raconteur. I was absolutely charmed. She is so warm and friendly and played for more than the obligatory two hours as a gift for her fans. And her band is smoking hot! Do not wait to see this American roots rock treasure.

  • Left

    by Chanceyx2 on 10/2/19The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams and her extremely talented band (Buick 6) rocked the Walker Theater in Chattanooga with her unique blend of stories, rhythms and poetry. The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the release of Car Wheels on a Gravel Road was filled with interesting stories about the experiences that inspired this classic album. Lucinda dared to be bold and vulnerable sharing these stories and gave the audience a new appreciation for the true American poet. She did all this while fighting an illness and left everyone in the audience blown away by her commitment to her fans. The Walker Theater made for a perfect intimate venue that made the connection between artist and audience all the more real! This blend of blues, rock and country left the audience happy and wanting more!

  • Walker theatre magic

by GreyJ on 10/2/19The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams put on an exquisite show at the walker, playing the entire car wheels album start to finish then encoring twice. She was fully embraced by an adoring crowd. Her easy and open storytelling provided background to the songs as she freely shared experiences from her past. A wonderful show. The walker is a gem.

Lucinda was truly at her best and came back on 3 times as finale when she ended with “gotta get right with god”. The venue was perfect as well at Walker theater in Chattanooga.

  • Lucinda’s Story

by GroovyFish on 10/2/19The Walker Theatre - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

Great music as always! It was our second time seeing her “gravel road” tour, love the stories behind the songs and of course the pictures. Lucinda is amazing, her band sounded super good. Many people left before first encore and missed some good stuff. In her own words, “I do play rock and roll “! Second encore was shaking the house!!! Love her music, can’t wait for our next opportunity to see her. First time to venue, comfortable seating- fabulous acoustics!! Great show!

  • Brilliant mostly!

by Merchiston on 9/20/19State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

The main part of the set was a wonderful run through of her finest album. Together with the between songs conversation and the fascinating video backdrop, it was a fabulous experience. Great musicians too, especially the amazing guitarist! The final quarter of the set, however, descended into a rather monotonous run of anonymous songs. Still, the first part remains a joyful memory!

  • Buick 6 kicked it.

by A trillion galaxies on 9/20/19State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

The bass still thumping throughout my existence. Percussion perfection. Lucinda connecting with her peeps. And the crowd who gets to their feet cause they get it period!

  • Unbelievable

    by K. C. on 9/20/19State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda was great. Loved learning about each song. Her band is top notch. Seen her a few times and she still has the voice of an angel.

  • Wonderful 20th anniversary celebration!

    by T. on 4/15/19The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This tour was the 20th anniversary of Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. They played all the tracks in order and before each song, Lucinda told you a little bit about who or what it was about & how or why she wrote it. It was amazing and something I wish would happen at every concert. The venue was the perfect size with great acoustics and she made it seem like an intimate gathering with friends as opposed to a concert. For the 2 encores they just played what they liked, (I'm assuming) and appeared to be having a really good time. I thoroughly enjoyed this show and love the idea of these anniversary concerts. It's my chance to see artists I love & respect play the music I grew up with but maybe couldn't afford to see at the time. It's my second chance & I loved every minute of it. I brought a friend who kept saying, "I hope this never ends", I felt the same.

  • Highly Personal Performance

by LeeBlues on 4/14/19The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams is the most authentic singer/songwriter of our time. In this performance she covered the entire album Car Wheels on a Gravel road, accompanied by her amazing band, Buick 6, and a running video of her artwork, lyrics, and photos. She also performed several other songs. She told stories to highlight the relational mishaps that inspired her work on the album. It was a very touching performance, like being in her living room. It was not a high rocking performance, which she can also produce, but it was deeply touching, and as usual, her vocals were very powerful.

  • We Love Lucinda!

by Krogs on 4/14/19The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 3rd time my husband and I have seen Lucinda at the Pageant - and every year it's better and better! She is an amazing performer, musician and poet. Buick 6 is awesome too! We loved the personal stories and pictures that corresponded to the album. Thank you Lucinda for sharing your life and journey with such an open heart! We love you!

  • Lucinda is the best

    by C. W. on 4/14/19The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

The Pagent is a great venue. Lucinda Williams is a fabulous artist.

  • Most Excellent!

    by j. on 4/14/19The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Wowza! Just when you think you've seen the best of Lucinda, she smacks you over the head again with another great concert and SO many wonderful stories about the background and history of how each song from "Carwheels" was written. And her band--yikes! When she strapped on her electric and jammed with her guitarist, it was totally psychedelic. And her bass player was SO good--just singing background with her and grooving to the music in his own world. So glad she always plays the Pageant--such a wonderful venue.
