Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • That voice—those songs! Voila!

by RKR on 2/26/22Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Her health trauma has left her physically limited, but her unique voice is strong, and her phrasing remains Lucinda. She sang for 105 minutes, including encore demanded by the full house full of affection. The band is tight and very attuned to Lucinda. Her music remains amazing.

  • Feel sorry for anyone who missed it!

by Sandy on 2/26/22Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic small venue - great bar. But the best part was - of course- the very talented Lucinda. She was wonderful.

  • Her voice!!

She sounds so amazing! Vocals and instruments were dialed in!! Lucinda and her Buick 6 kick ass!!

  • Excellent Show

by Louis on 2/10/20Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda William and Buick 6 is such a great act to see. She is just so cool, so emotional. And, her band is about the finest 3-piece band out there. They rock, they jam, the capture the emotions of her various songs. Third time seeing this lineup, and this was the best show (not that the others were not great shows, too). They are just so tight. A must-see, for sure. Kudos to Stuart Mathis, excellent guitarist; David Sutton, mostly on this cool acoustic/electric bass; and great drums and percussion by Butch Norton. Buick 6, alone, is excellent...and, with Lucinda, it's just a great show. This particular show, 2 new songs never heard, got rousing, loud approval.

  • Lucinda was fantastic

by gil on 2/9/20Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

What a REAL performer - showing her true feelings in her songs - with a great band on hand. I had no idea who she was till my wife said we should see her.She was unbelievable in person.

  • Lucinda, Lucinda, Lucinda

by JD on 2/9/20Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale. She and her band were great. She has a special voice that everyone needs to hear. It was a great evening. Parker Playhouse is a great place to take in a concert or other special event

  • Check Lucinda off my bucket list

by Alison on 2/9/20Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda was in rare form, as always. Buick 6 is a great band. Looking forward to her new album in April.

  • Lucinda in Ft Lauderdale

by Bill on 2/9/20Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda was great as always, love her voice and phrasing, and enjoyed her subtle political comments. Her backup band Buick 6 is phenomenal. And the Jesse Malin rockin' acoustic set was a great bonus.

  • Lucinda just keeps getting better

by SueHa on 2/9/20Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

A Lucinda show is always a treat. Her voice is so unique, her music is simple on the surface but with unexpected depth of feeling and passion. It is very hard to write what sounds like a simple song but is not, the kind that sticks in the head and heart. She is master of that. She has so many great songs that you know you won’t hear all your favorites at any show because there just isn’t enough time. Buick 6, the band that has backed her for years, is perfect. Each of the three musicians is at the top of his game and they have worked with her long enough that every song is seamless. At this recent show there was an especially strong audience connection that led to more personal stories and changes in the set list to add more songs from her upcoming album. There were also plenty of songs from previous albums and people kept calling out their requests all night. And when she ended the show with Foolishness, nothing could have been better. Everyone loved the show.

by G8trsrgods on 1/29/20Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and I couldn’t have chosen a better concert to attend. Lucinda and her band were amazing and the opener, Jesse Malin, did an awesome job. I can’t wait to attend another show both at the venue and with Lucinda!!!

  • Love Lucinda

    by L. D. on 11/5/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda is my favorite song writer and singer. Her voice changes a lot since she was younger--from clear to rasp. Seeing Lucinda live is a chance of a life time for me. Enjoyed her concert thoroughly! Lucinda, keep on writing beautiful music.

  • Excellent Performance

by SKarr on 11/5/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

The music was amazing. The background stories really made the event special. The crowd could not have been better. My entire family enjoyed every minute of it!

  • Amazing show!

by Tasha on 11/5/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda and her band put on an amazing show at the Fox. Her voice is only improving and the personal stories she shared were captivating and illuminating. I highly recommend you see her if you have the opportunity! She played for 3 encores, a total of 10 encore songs, if I remember correctly. I feel so fortunate to have experienced this performance at such a spectacular venue! Go to the Fox, it’s an architectural and design masterpiece.

  • Lucinda and Buick 6 rocks out soaringly soulfull

by Mudhoney on 11/5/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda digs deep into her song-supported past with enlightening and at times elusive lyrics - backed by a crackerjack, tightest of tightest, kick-ass, session-like musicians, elevated 'bar band' in the West - always a rare treat for all four to come together for an evening of listening pleasure and rapturous audience acceptance

  • Amazing evening!!

by Mobuff on 11/5/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible show celebrating 20 year anniversary of one of the best albums of all times. Lucinda shared intimate personal stories that enriched every song, as well as videos/photos of her childhood. As always, her energy was awesome and her band was phenomenal. The Fox Theatre is an incredible venue. Love everything about it- convenient location, architecture and history, friendly staff, sight lines, great sound etc.

  • Wonderful

by Bonfire on 11/5/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

It was so special to hear Lucinda talk about how each song came about and also to see pictures of her starting at birth going all the way through her life until now. The now older crowd was very sedate and sat for almost all the show. She seemed relaxed and her band was good although one third her age. The hit album still sounds excellent and then she threw is some rockin songs at the end to get the crowd going and it worked. I will always love Lucinda.

  • Lucinda Williams at the Orpheum in LA

by Marc on 11/4/19Orpheum Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This show was amazing. The band, the songs, and the sound at the Orpheum were all wonderful. We especially loved hearing Lucinda's stories behind the songs on the Gravel Road album. It gave the show a very intimate feel, and made the songs even more powerful. Even after two encores, the audience couldn't get enough. We felt very lucky to be there.
