Louisville Cardinals Men's Basketball History
An excellent college basketball program across all eras, Louisville is notable especially for its continuity. Bernard "Peck" Hickman (1944-67) went 443-183 during his time in the ‘Ville; John Dromo (1967-71) went 68-23 during his brief run as coach, which ended when a heart attack forced him to retire; Denny Crum (1971-2001) went to six Final Fours, won two national championships and left campus with a shiny 675-295 record; Rick Pitino (2001-17) added another Final Four appearance while going 416-143 overall.
The Crum era in particular is regarded as one of the great coaching tenures in the history of the sport. After serving as the top assistant to the legendary John Wooden at UCLA, Crum took the Cardinals to the Final Four — the first coach to make a Final Four in his first season as a head coach. He earned the nickname "Cool Hand Luke" for his demeanor and "Mr. March" for all the deep postseason runs his teams produced over the years. His offenses were famous for their post play — "Never Nervous Pervis" Ellison was the rock of the Cardinals' second national championship team — and his defenses were a frenzy of switches. The style of play was perhaps ill-suited to the era of the three-pointer, but he was still winning games into the mid ‘90s, including a 26-9 season in 1996-97.
Currently, the team is led by coach Pat Kelsey.

Louisville Cardinals at KFC Yum! Center
Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center seats more than 22,000 fans, making it the second-largest college hoops arena in the country. The student section is known as The Ville'ns, and they keep the stadium lively. To juice their homecourt advantage, the Cardinals have made a habit of staging "color" events — "White Outs," "Red Outs" and "Black Outs" — during which fans are encouraged to wear the same color to games.
Tickets for the 2025-26 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Louisville Cardinals.

Reasonably priced great time. Good luck this Basketball Season. Go Cards!
Had a wonderful time. I will be back for games! Everyone was really nice and helpful
I enjoyed the game and I want to see more of the games
The experience was breath taking the game was great
It's always a great time when we go to show support to the U of L athletes. Whether it's football, men's or women's basketball and even the girl's volleyball we like to show our teams we care! The Yum center is a very nice venue, too bad we don't have indoor football there.
It was SO exciting! I’m looking so forward to seeing the Cards in action with Davis Padgett! Good Luck and.... Go Cards ❤️
The kids had a blast, the seats were close and all of the staff were great!.
I loved the seats me and my girl had. Great game and experience for the first time. Can't wait to go back.
This was a great game. The shooting % by each team was the highest I had ever seen. It was certainly a thriller. And if I could get these seats again, I would certainly do so. Awesome view and the people around me were very friendly.
The seats are so small you can barely move and there is nowhere to sit your drink. It's a steep climb up the stairs. We decided to eat at one of the food outlets and paid $31 for 2 chicken baskets that included fries and a pretzel and 2 bottles of water. The chicken wasn't even slightly warm nor were the fries. My husband tried to eat the pretzel and after one bite deemed it inedible. When the teenagers in front of us were texting they would lean forward and block nearly the whole view of the court. We left about 7 minutes into the 2nd half. I won't be returning for another event. I'd much rather watch the game from the comfort of my living room with a lot cheaper food and definitely better tasting.
I'm not a UofL fan (go cats!) I bought the tickets as a christmas present for my boyfriend, but I loved seeing them beat Duke LIVE! It was a pretty awesome day and my boyfriend enjoyed it as well.
This was a great game. Crowd was into it. Friendly atmosphere. Will go back
A great venue when a big game is being played! Can feel a bit corporate sometimes, but all in all it's a great place to watch a game
The Cards played like high schoolers. Very disappointed. Paid $82.00 per ticket and I bought 3 tickets. OUr seats again were second to back row. AWFUL! Even with binoculars it was hard to see the players and what was going on. Should've watched it on TV. Would've seen more.
HANDICAP SEATS OFFER GREAT VIEW OF GAME. GAME WAS OK.
Had a great time! Enjoyed watching each of the players teams and Coach Pitino even though he wasn't coaching the game.
Great tickets two rolls off the floor. Had a great time.
This was my second time seeing a U of L scrimmage at the Yum Center. Entry into the facility was easy and quick. The facility was easy to navigate. The only issue I had was the prices of the concessions. Overall, I had a great experience, and look forward going back.
I had a great time watching my cardinals scrimmage against each other. I love the new additions to the team. I loved Tony Hicks the minute he got on the floor. He may be short but he is quick. V j king is also going to be good. I'm just excited for the season to start.i love our team and I love watching them play in person. Kfc yum center is a awesome place to play at. I love it in there.
great halftime show, very classy move by giving the players their rings
