About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

  • An amateurish interpretation

by JML on 8/24/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

I’ve seen a few productions of this show by now and this one felt… cheap. The staging was fine. The sets were only fine. The songs felt rushed through. They felt orchestrated at a faster tempo than typical and the performers tended to yell-sing much of their work. The director didn’t provide time to allow the development of all the melodrama (because this is a melodramatic show) develop. Valjean chewed every damn piece of scenery on stage. It felt like understudy night at a regional production.

  • Great performance

by Bernadette on 8/23/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was a wonderful performance, not my first experience of Les Miserables. Every character was outstanding, the orchestra too.

  • Show good but missed first five minutes

by Festa on 8/23/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show but the ushering staff needs to follow policy! Sat in mezzanine and about 50 people were allowed in to be seated during opening scene which made it impossible for us to see! Flashlights in our eyes etc! And I received numerous notices that we had to be in our seats at 7:30 would be held for 20 minutes! We made sure to be there ! My daughter’s first Broadway show too! Other than that the show and staff were great!

  • Best Musical Ever!

    by Roadhawk2 on 8/23/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Our children booked the night (dinner, hotel and tickets) for my wife and I to celebrate our 50th anniversary. This was the 6th time we've seen Les Mis. In my opinion, Les Mis is the greatest musical ever! The music is phenomenal and the story touches our hearts. It never gets old. Everyone should see it at least once!

by Pam on 8/23/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 3rd time over 25 yrs that I have seen Les Mis and the special effects were even better this time. I did miss the circular stage but the projections were fabulous. The show is amazing, great talent, costumes, choreography. It shouldn't be missed

  • Blown Away

by Barby on 8/21/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I'm a Les Mis fan since the 80s so of course I was going to like it but Wow! It's been tweaked here and there and no more revolving stage-and I didn't miss it at all. So well done. The power in the voices was exceptional and very emotional. The ensemble was as strong as the leads which created such a powerful and heartfelt production. Thank you to all evolved with it for giving your all for all of us. It's soul lifting.

  • Beyond excellent!

by Buffstaxi on 8/21/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Les Miz over 8 or 9 times over the past 35 years in various tour productions and on Broadway. I can truthfully say that this Boston production of the show was the best I have ever seen. There were little nuances integrated into the scrnes that helped to renovate the characters of the show. Bravo!

  • Perfection

by Greg on 8/20/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely stunning magnificent performance the Venus was beautiful

  • Fantastic performance with preventable interruptions

by Maria on 8/20/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was fantastic!!! Two things that would greatly help minimize interruptions: 1. When showing late-comers to their seats please keep the flashlights down. They were up and into the audience, which was very distracting. 2. Please tell the audience to, if at all possible, only get up in between songs. People kept getting up mid scene or mid song which was really annoying and disrespectful and interfered with the emotional experience of the beautiful performance.

  • Amazing

by Mike D on 8/19/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show, would see it again and again! Very long but theater did a great job moving along intermission and start of show.

  • Very good but not great

by Some pronunciations not clear. on 8/19/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

The play and staging were great but it was hard to hear some of the words so make sure you familiarize yourself with the story before you go.

  • A Classic! Never Disappoints

by KL on 8/19/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This my second time seeing Les Mis, the last being in London in 2013 when I was in college studying abroad. It truly never disappoints. The sheer talent they find for these casts, the seemless set changes, the project, it's all breathtaking and I would see it every year if I could!

  • Soooo good!

by Les Miserable on 8/19/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I was very impressed with the set and lighting. It was well casted and so nice to see people of color in the performance.
