About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

Everything about this production was perfect. Cast was amazing, scenery stunning. Set changes were seamless and orchestra was great. I’d see this again in a heartbeat.

by Howard on 8/18/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

For a touring company presentation, it was excellent. The cast was strong and the sets great. The orchestra was wonderful. What can I say, it’s Les Mis!!

  • Good show poor sound

by JR on 8/18/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

The leads were not miked well or the sound system was poor. During the first half you had to struggle to make out the words they were singing. A bit better in the second half. Damaged what was otherwise a great show.

  • Wonderful musical experience!

by Lolo on 8/18/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The show and the music and the voices were great! I wanted to sing through most of it! Toward the beginning of the show there was a bit of distraction, with latecomers walking through to find their seats getting in the way of the stage, and some of the lead's voices, the words in their entrance numbers, seemed to be a bit warbled, or I couldn't quite make the words out. I feel that this corrected itself as the show went on, and it was very emotional and powerful!

  • Simply Amazing

by Jessy on 8/17/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 5th time seeing this performance and I have to say this ensemble and main cast are my absolute favorites. The harmonies, the high notes, the entire production was just utterly perfect. I can’t express how I felt. Amazing. I was upper mezz and could still see the expressions and feel the emotions. This cast poured their entire heart and souls in to this. Thank you all. What a memorable experience.

Fabulous show ! The theatre was a bit crowded and needed some extra bathroom time but overall fabulous!

  • Good not great

    by Jo123 on 8/16/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Have seen better productions of LM in the past, cast was less than Broadway A-list performers, some voices just not strong enough to carry such powerful songs, set design looked great, orchestra sounded great.

  • Exceptional

by Trixie on 8/16/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The best ever. Although I have enjoyed Les Miserable three times before, this was absolutely my favorite and my husband’s first. He was completely blown away! Performance was outstanding. Actors were perfectly casted. The passion with which they performed was incredible. Acting, VOICES, music, direction, ALL. Completely exceptional.

  • Talented performers; Dark Lighting; Bare Staging

by Peter A on 8/16/24Citizens Opera House - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

We generally enjoyed Les Miserables at the Boston Opera House despite a fire alarm going off during the first song that required evacuating the whole theater and starting an hour late. The staging and lighting were not as impressive as past versions of the show I have seen. The overall lighting mode for all scenes was "dark."Even he barricades were entirely grey rather than showing furniture and crates that made up the fortifications. We were in the third row of the Dress Circle (in front of the balcony) and the view was excellent. Parking at Lafayette Place was convenient as was Legal Seafoods across Washington St from the theatre.

  • Fantastic!!

by Todd T on 8/14/24National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

No complaints at all - the production as absolutely spectacular! The cast was amazing - the singing was spot on! I would compare the singing to any of the productions that you can see on PBS performances. And the sets were unbelievable! And the venue was amazing - I'm running out of adjectives. Nothing bad to say at all - Highly recommend!

Great touring show. Have seen the original and a few other touring shows and this one was great. Male characters were amazing and epinine. However other female cast such as fantine and Cosette were not as great as previous shows. Overall great performance. My favourite

  • Best Musical Experience ❤️❤️❤️

by Red Gonzales on 8/13/24National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

This is my first time watching a musical and I honestly didnt know what to expect. I have heard Les Miserables because of Lea Salonga so I bought a ticket in the balcony because it was the only ticket available. The whole show was amazing!!! The cast were perfect and the voices were HEAVENLY!!! I loved the whole performance and I discovered my mive for musical because of this. The young boy cast was so great too!!! I was very emotional watching it I almost cried. I wanted to give a standing ovation in the end but I was in front of a balcony with an almost knee height railing I was so scared of heights I just sat and clapped my hearts out. It was so good. I will watch it again and again if given a chance. ❤️❤️❤️

  • Tall Moving Heads

by Robscocar on 8/12/24National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

The performance was wonderful. It is my favourite musical and I’ve seen it several times of stage plus the 25th Anniversary tape of the tv documentary. This presentation good with the dining being great. Some of the casting was surprising and a little visually not what I expected. I had to get by the visual images to fully enjoy the richness of the vocals. Our seats were awful. It was difficult to see the stage with the heads in front of us, particularly the head that kept moving. It was difficult to get an angle through the gaps that kept changing. By the way I’m not short so do not normally have these issues. It distracted from the enjoyment of the play.
