About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

  • Spectacular show!

Better than expected! The costume's, the staging, the orchestra, the talent. All top rate. As good as anything I’ve ever seen in London or Broadway.

  • Love this show

This is my 5th time seeing Les Mis on stage (once on Broadway in the late 1980’s and 4 times at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center). This show never disappoints. I could see it again and again and it would not get old. The cast was wonderful.

  • Fabulous!

Les Misérables is my favorite Broadway show. I've seen it countless times between Broadway, Pittsburgh, and Charleston, SC. The 2025 touring company performs this classic with passion and incredible talent, while staying true to the epic story.

Phenomenal rendition on this wonderful musical. The cast, orchestra were superb. A truly distinguishing feature was the set designs which were beautiful and added so much to the performance.

  • Beyond My Wildest Expectations

by Grace on 5/16/25North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

I have never seen Les Miserables live, even though it's my favorite musical. I didn't know what to expect, especially just because you never know what kind of quality a touring show will be. This was beyond my wildest expectations. Every vocalist was amazing, ESPECIALLY the people who played Valjean, Fantine, and Enjolras. The Thenardiers were hilarious. The orchestra was flawless, and the chorus was transcendent. I cried through pretty much the whole second act. My only complaint is that quite a few people came in very late, which disturbed everyone else, and several people used their phones at different intervals throughout the night. That isn't enough to have spoiled the experience for me, and I don't know that there's anything that could be done to prevent some people from being rude theatergoers. Also, the effects in this show were amazing! I don't even know how they accomplished some of it. Really remarkable performance. I will never forget this.

  • Cell Phones in the 1800s

by Annoyed on 5/13/25VBC Mark C Smith Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 3 out of 5

This was by far the worst experience I've had at the Mark C Smith concert hall for a musical. I don't know if it was the age of the crowd or what but I've been sat near children far better behaved than the adults at this show. Cell phones and flashlights and talking nonstop and nobody working put a stop to any of it. The production was fine, what i could enjoy of it anyway, but the crowd made the whole show miserable. Fitting for Les Miserables I guess. The next time I want to see a classical production (i.e. not Mamma Mia or Six, both of which had younger but much better crowds) I'll just go anywhere else to see it.

  • Outstanding cast!

Les Mis is my all time favorite show, and this was a fantastic show. The entire cast was truly top notch. Jean Valjean was just incredible.

  • Fabulous

by You Go, Victor on 5/12/25VBC Mark C Smith Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Even after attending a dozen or so Les performances in various venues, each time we experience this show, it never ceases to bring fresh perspectives, revealing nuances we had not noticed before, and the May 9, 2025 production was no different. Thanks to the outstanding cast and orchestra, the music was beautiful and lyrics inspiring as always, and the message both enlightening and convicting. We will never miss a chance to see this show when a performance is within driving distance; everyone should see it at least once…simply the finest musical ever by far.

  • Phenomenal

So much talent was unbelievable. I’ve attended many events in the Concert Hall but none as amazing as Les Miserables.

  • Sadly disappointed

    by 50 year theatre-goer on 5/11/25VBC Mark C Smith Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 2 out of 5

I was lucky to attend the world premiere of Les Miz in London in 1986, with the original cast. Since then, I’ve see it 5 more times, in New York and again in London, over these past 40 years. The recent Huntsville performance was solid, but the sound system, due to amplification, tended to distort the music and voices a great deal, making it hard to understand what the voices were saying. The score was also sped up a bit, likely to shorten the length of the show for most audiences. The real violation that may result in me not returning to that theatre space was the absurdly large number of audience members who were on their cellphones during performance! It was absurd! I’ve never seen so many screens light up during a show, and I heard 7 phones ringing during the show as well. Also, there were a record number of guests getting up to go out of the auditorium, and return, during the show! Multitudes of people crawling over others and returning without a thought about interrupting other’s evening!? It was like I was at a baseball game with elementary school kids, rather than at a theatrical performance. In New York City, as an example, if you leave the auditorium during a performance, you do not come back in until an intermission. The same is true in London, Paris, Milan, and even Nashville. Very embarrassing that so many people were texting and going in and out and in and out of the theatre, and the ushers did nothing about it! Alabama needs to learn how to go to the theatre!

  • Wonderfully Breathtaking

    by Reth13 on 5/11/25Rating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing any rendition of Les Mis, and I was beyond shocked at how well the show was. From the acting to the singing to the stage crew, everything was wonderful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a Les Mis fan; you will not be disappointed.

  • Les Miseràbles

by Jean valjean on 5/10/25VBC Mark C Smith Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The music is captivating. The performance is captivating. It keeps your attention so well. One of the best musicals we have seen thus far, would recommend d to anyone and everyone to see this music.

  • Fantastic and full of symbolism

by ChrisB on 5/10/25VBC Mark C Smith Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The orchestra, backdrop, props, acting, singing, and costumes were lovely, and the symbolism of the Law VS Grace and laying down’s life for another, shines bright! Jesus, of course, gave his life, as a perfect sinless lamb, which met the requirements of the Old Testament Law, and made a way for those who receive Him, to have their sins forgiven, and live by grace!
