Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, LES MISÉRABLES makes a triumphant return to Chicago. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, LES MISÉRABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption - a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of LES MISÉRABLES includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.
This is the 6th time that I have seen this show. This is by far the best cast that I have seen!
Les Mis is always great but the energy was just not there with this cast.
Wow! That pretty much sums up this fantastic production by a wonderful cast. Jean Valjean was simply outstanding, as was Javert. Such a moving production and the whole cast numbers were amazing as well. Simply amazing.
I have to say that every singer in this performance was incredible. It was probably the best vocal ensemble I have heard in years, including several shows on Broadway. I loved it!
The musical is iconic. This tour is extraordinary. All of the performances - orchestra & cast - are fantastic. Love the percussion!!!
From the restaging, voices and new stage crafting with a perfect orchestra all made for a FANTASTIC performance. It was worth every penny that I spent. I’m a member of Lyric and this one production should put Lyric on its toes and ears because Les Miserable hit every mark of what professional musicians should sound and act . BRAVO!
I am a lifelong Les Mis fan —saw it in London and NYC long ago and see the show every time it tours. This is a stunning production…so beautifully staged. Also has far and away the best singing voices of all the shows I have seen. The singing is flawless. The acting is fantastic especially Jean Valjean and Marius who brought more nuance and took more time with small moments more so than I have seen with those roles in past productions. The scenic elements including very clever use of film for background elements was particularly inventive and kept this feeling fresh and new. Highly, highly recommended.
Les Miserables is hands down my favorite musical of all time, but this performance was somewhat disappointing. It felt very rushed and didn’t connect emotionally. There were some great moments and a few standout singing performances, but overall it just didn’t come together.
Heavenly Vocals ~ sounded like Angels! If you love Les-Mis this is a MUST see Wait till you hear this GIANT voice from the tiny Eponine, you'll need a double-take & the entire ensemble belting out ONE DAY MORE & TOMORROW COMES lifts the emotions to tears of the living reality of these times in certain hopes for tomorrow... The orchestra blend was musical perfection; bold enough to fill the entire theater while the soft whispering falsetto of BRING HIM HOME could be heard crystal clear Overall? GREAT JOB GUYS & THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH
Long lines of ticket holders were stuck outside theater because the tech's ability to check tickets didn't work! Many had to go to boxoffice to get paper tickets. Shame on Ticketmaster for claiming that putting tickets into our "wallet" would ease entry. NO WAY. As result many folk tried to find seats after show began thereby disturbing those in theater. Best voices we have Eve heard and casting was spot on. Don’t miss it!!!
We have seen Les Mis several times and this cast may be the best yet. The voices and performance were just amazing
The show itself was absolutely amazing as always. However, there were 40-70 people who showed up late and ended up being a massive distraction. We were unable to see the stage for the first 3 songs, we saw all kinds of commotion and heard talking and shuffling and saw lights during them trying to get seated. It completely took us out of the moment and frustrated us a lot. It made me really sad, too, since I was trying to treat my mom to her first time seeing Les Mis. I feel the Cadillac Palace could have handled these late comers a lot better rather than letting them come in and be distracting and stand around blocking our view for 3 whole songs.
Absolutely breathtaking. I laughed, I cried. 10/10
This may be the best play I have seen in 40 years. The vocals, the staging, all amazing.
I believe this was the best Les Miz of the 7 that I have seen. Outstanding!
If you haven’t seen Les Mis or even if you have, you owe it to yourself to get tix while it is in Chicago. Spectacular barely describes it. The actor/musician that plays Jean Val Jean is off the charts good. His presentation of Let Him Live is the best I have seen or heard, and certainly as good or better than the recording of the original cast or Broadway team. Hustle and get your tickets.
It’s the first time for me to enjoy the musical version of Les Miserables. The stage is mixed with 3d, that’s splendid. And the whole performance is memorable and inspiring. Excellent experience!
I wasn't sure what to expect becauze so many plays and musicals have changed the story or modernized them. This musical was very faithful to the Les Mis story.
When we arrived, the check-in process was not smooth. Half of the audience was outside the theater entrance at 5 minutes to show time. The musical was stunning in every way. The sheer talent of the cast gave me goosebumps. Excellent vocals and orchestra. The finale moved me to tears. Powerful and inspiring, Les Miserable is the best musical of all time.
