Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, LES MISÉRABLES makes a triumphant return to Chicago. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, LES MISÉRABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption - a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of LES MISÉRABLES includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.
Les Miz was absolutely fantastic. It's so rare to see a strong cast across the board in such a trying musical, but everyone was amazing!
A dream that was long awaited for Abbi. Although she is usually quite articulate, she was at a loss when I asked her to put her thoughts into words! This was my 1st experience with the show, but I had heard the music from my teen. She would love to play Eponine...someday! It was definitely a memorable experience from the moment we entered the majestic venue. It was humbling to listen to the applause of the audience as they enthusiastically showed their appreciation for the stellar performances of the cast.
There is simply no words to describe how incredibly moving was that performance.Everyone should see it .For me and my daughters it was the best start to this Holiday Season. To all performers, stage crew, musicians and everyone involved, thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Saw this tour the first time it came through Chicago a couple years ago -- and then again this week. This cast was better than before!! Amazing. I highly recommend this show!
Les Mis is hands down the best musical ever and the company who performed in Chicago did it more than justice! They were all amazing singers and actors and we enjoyed every minute of it! Amazing performance!!
Performances by all the key characters were strong, beautifully sung, and well acted. The clarity of the voices was so crisp...very easy to understand the lyrics.
I absolutely loved it! I am a huge theater, especially Les Miserables, fanatic so I had high expectations. This show completely exceeded all of them. Definitely a great holiday treat!
Simply amazing. Beautiful singing, incredible sets and effects. I found myself weeping at several points throughout.
Spectacular rendition of a favorite. I took my college aged daughter who loved the show
Amazing! Really well cast. We were on the edge of our seats the entire performance. This was my 4th time seeing this show and it was better than ever. If you've never seen it before, do your homework. The story can be hard to follow if you don't know it before hand. It can be seen as a "dark" show but there are so many wonderful life lessons too. Mercy and Redemption. Beware of "Master of the House" if you're sensitive to suggestive content. I just listen to that one! Definitely our favorite show. It's a classic everyone needs to see.
Powerful, moving performances and vivid scenery made for an absolutely memorable experience.
Once again a huge enjoyment, wish the pacing was a little slower but the voices were amazing
A slightly different take with a little more humor. As usual, an incredible experience. Mme Thenarduer steals the show.
6-1/3 rd time we have seen Les Mis ( Power failure in Indianapolis ended performance early) Bought these tickets to celibrate wife's birthday. Company was excellent. Particularly enjoyed Andrew Varella as Jabert.
Awesome had to stay awake to appreciate everything.
The show was absolutely fantastic. It was much better than expected for being my first time seeing it on stage. If there were flaws, I didn't see them because I was mesmerized. The cast and music was great, the set was phenomenal and the singing was beautiful. Go see this show!
Although i could not see whole stage because of western side wall, that stage made deep impression on me, especially, ending scene which Jang died made me cry. And actors sand very good. I want to watch one more if i get a chance!
I usually hate sitting in the first row for musicals; I love sitting back further so I can get the whole picture. However I have never seen Les Miserables up close. I have never had a more moving experience in my life. The entire cast added their own twist to each character and made the characters their own. Being up close, you get to see the actors and actresses every facial and emotion. This is truly an ensemble piece and there was not a single weak link. I would recommend this to anyone who has never seen the show and even to those who have seen it 100 times. This is a revised and reconstructed productions that will blow you away.
The singing was marvelous. Gave me chills! The theater was absolutey sold out
First I have to say that I absolutley LOVE the musical Les Miserables and have seen it on stage several times over the years since it first debiuted. I love the book. I love th music. I have long thought of it as one of my very favorites. Sadly, this "new producation" with the staging changes has eliminated several of the very clever staginging techniques which helped withthe various threads and which were so very powerful, There are such universal and wonderful themes, but the new producation has a lot of "4 wll" staging, with a very literal approach. The lighting is far too dark throughout. They also missed several sound cues. Some of the hi tech effects were nice but the character sevelopment was lacking in this producation. Master of the House used to have the audience in stitches, no more. Fontine was weak. Eponine had her back to the audience at critical times and we were not allowed to connect woth her. Other characters onstage moved during her death scene! Oh, sadly there was so much not right with this production
