Staging, Lighting, voice
by Dalewwwww on 11/25/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5We saw the matinee show Friday after Thanksgiving. It literally transported us into the heads and hearts of Victor Hugos characters. Staging and the use of impressionist, moving backdrops, low lighting, brilliant lights symbolizing purity of death...and the act where Jafert committed suicide added subtle power to the voices

Special treat and the highlight of family thanksgiving holiday! It was expensive for the whole family but well worth it.
Great day in Chicago!
by MusicalMan2 on 11/25/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5The Chicago performance of Les Mis was amazing. We had watched the 10th and 25th anniversary concert performances on TV and were worried we'd be let down since those casts were the best (Colm Wilkinson is our favorite), but this group did a great job both with their acting and vocals. We loved it. Also had a great time visiting Millenium Park and hitting the stores on Michigan Ave and State Street before the performance. Truly a great day in Chicago!

Peter Lockyer is fantastic as Valjean love when he sings Bring Him Home, Jason Forbach is amazing in his portrayal of Enjolras my favorite Enjolras, Joe Spieldenner has me in tears with his emotions as Grantaire can't say enough about Joe, Max Quinlan is great as Marius always cry during Empty Chairs will miss him in the show, Lauren Wiley has a beautiful voice love her as Cosette. Shawna Hamic & Tim Gulan are fabulous as M and Mme Thenardier. Briana Carlson-Goodman does a heart wrenching rendition of On My Own. Ian Patrick Gibb plays Jean Prouvaire has a fabulous voice! And the rest of the ensemble is amazingly talented. This was my 20th time seeing this cast you must see them. So glad I can say they are my friends!!!!
Breathless!
by TrojanHuskies on 11/25/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5I always knew I would be seeing a masterpiece since the day I listened to its soundtrack, and the Chicago production definitely did not disappoint. A thrilling roller coaster right from the first note to the last bow, they reinvent my love for musical production and reignite the adrenaline of live theatre. I would definitely recommend to all to go see it live if you get a chance, and you might just be hooked for lifetime :) Bravo!
Totally Amazing!
by ACowhy on 11/25/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5This Broadway production of Les Miserables has always been one of my most favorite Broadway memories. Since I had seen Les Miserables in the past, I hesitated on spending the money again to see the performance for a family of 4, but I am so glad that I did! This performance group was truly outstanding in every area. Superb voices by all. Totally amazing!! The solos brought me to tears by some of the performers.... Awesome!!
Incredible cast
by sophiedot on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5I enjoyed this show so much. I had never seen it before, but I know all the music by heart. Every single one of the cast members were phenomenal, and the sets really brought me into the moment. I would go back and see this again in a heartbeat!

First time attending a Les Mis show
by dcj125 on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5I've been a fan of Les Mis for a long time so it was great to finally see it performed on stage. I went in just wanting to see some great acts, thinking nothing would surprise me, but the effects and production was actually very cool. Definitely recommended.
Les Miserables was outstanding! :D
by Lishaphant on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5This performance was great! The guy who played Jean Valjean, Peter Lockyer, had the perfect range and sang better than the man who played in the original broadway performance (in my opinion of course).
All around pretty good performance
by LovingLesMis on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5There were definitely high points, and there were definitely low points. If you haven't seen this show before: GO. You absolutely will not regret it. If, however, you have seen this before, you may want to consider a few things before purchasing your tickets. While many of the cast members gave phenomenal performances (Javert, Eponine and Marius were some of the best) others left us wanting more. Jean Valjean is supposed to carry the show, yet he was just missing...something. During the Soliloquy, I found myself questioning whether I was at a musical or an opera. This theme carried throughout the entire show whenever Valjean was singing. So if operatic performances of some of your favorite songs would ruin the show for you, take that into consideration before attending. That being said, the technological advancements in the show were stellar. Les Mis now boasts beautiful projections throughout and brilliant effects in the Suicide. All in all, I would recommend going. Les Mis is a brilliant show, this version just left me wanting a bit more from the character that matters the most.
Les Miserable
by Teachtap on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5More than 20 years ago, I first saw LM in Kansas City - loved it. This was my 3rd performance and I was accompanied by 46 students, teachers and parents. We were amazed. The artistry, the technical staging and the music was lovely.

Fairly strong cast. They made the best of the small stage.
Les Miserables
by Murph6 on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5I saw this musical 19 years ago and loved it then. But with the new background and special effects it was even more grand than it was then. The cast was phenomenal and the singing was spot on! I would highly recommend this to anyone. My husband was skeptical about seeing this but he read the Wikipedia version before the event and was mesmerized through the entire show.
Les Miserable was amazing.
by PeeWee70 on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5My wife and I thought this was better than the original Les Miserable. Outstanding performances by the entire cast. We would definitely reccommend this to our friends and family.
All were moved to a standing ovation!!
by aubreylauren on 11/24/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5The overall production was a tour de force-even with fewer actors. The pit orchestra overpowered some of the solos, particularly Fantine's I Dreamed a Dream. Also, sound may have been off as some of the actors couldn't be heard when they sang or spoke softly. The sets were incredibly and thoughtfully done. Andrew Varela was a powerhouse as Javert, and those who sang the roles of Marius, Cosette, and Eponine were also fabulous. Those were some of the best moments of the musical. Well done to all!!
Fantastic
by Anonymous on 11/23/12Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Slightly different from other performances, in subtle ways. The singing was so powerful. The actors made you feel their pain, joy, despair, and hope. This is the performance which all others will be compared to.
