Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, LES MISÉRABLES makes a triumphant return to Chicago. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, LES MISÉRABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption - a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of LES MISÉRABLES includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.
Flawless production. I could see it again and again!
What a glorious, uplifting musical! My 4th time since it premiered in 1985, and it still moves me—the deep goodness of Valjean in an evil world. I love the musical score, and the voices were outstanding. I didn't know the Cadillac Palace and was surprised that the stage is so much smaller than Auditorium for such a big production, but the staging was brilliant, as was the lighting—Jauvert's death scene was a remarkable feat of the illusion of depth and drowning. Kudos to all involved in this thoroughly engaging production. I am still humming “when tomorrow comes.” Theater doesn't get better than this!
The voices are stunning. I’ve seen Les Miz many times and have never heard a Javert to equal this one. Having seen it so many times, I can tell the staging was different. My guess is the stage was too small for the great sets of the past. The voices make up for it.
Third time seeing Les Mis performed. This was the best. Outstanding
With such wonderful voices on stage, there shouldn't be a need to over amplify them to the point of distortion. We sat in the Loge and felt the excess volume was uncomfortable. The performance itself was wonderful but it was difficult to make out what was being said.
My wife and I love this play. We see it when ever it hits Chicago. The music is great, the staging is awesome and the story a tear jerker. A must see!
The venue is great, and the production was good. The musical itself was terrible.
I’ll start by admitting that I’ve seen Les Mis about 14 times now. This performance was ok, not my favorite at all. I’m a purist, so I did not like all the phrasing changes and new dramatic pauses that each singer took - so many changes that they were very obvious. Even the font was different when the Les Miserables title was projected on the stage. While all of the performers were talented, they were also not the best I’ve seen. Eponine is my favorite role, but I did not like her voice at all. Again, talented, but I don’t like the sound she gave to the character - very nasal. The set, however, was absolutely phenomenal. It’s construction was brilliant and it was beautifully realistic. With seeing, but not the best one.
A little disappointed on bathroom out of service in suite-resulted in spending the whole intermission in line, not the suite experience i expected
We thoroughly enjoyed this production of Les Misérables! The talent of the actors was spectacular, the set and the effects were very impressive. They moved along at a quick clip, and the show didn’t drag in the least. We loved every minute. Bravo!
I loved it! I laughed, I cried. Couldn't believe so much talent could be on one stage. Everybody should see it!
4 th time I’ve seen this show over the past 20+ years and it brings me to tears every time. Excellent production.
I attended the June 9 opening night performance. This show exceeded my expectations! The acting was over the top! The microphones and amplification allowed hearing each soloist clearly even when multiple soloists were singing at the same time. The special effects when Jean Valjean saves Marius in the sewers and when Javert dies were exceptional! The orchestra was superb! A Must See show!
The leads were top notch. Especially Nick Cartell as Jean V Jon. Wow
The play was fabulous I just wish the venue would have a no late entrance policy. The play just started and people in front of us arrived late and blocked the view plus there were people sitting on the wrong seats that had to be reacomodate
Even the highest seats in the balcony are great!!!
My daughters and I loved it! The singing and acting were superb. It has been days since we saw it and are still talking about how awesome it was and singing the songs.
Amazing show, wonderful cast, theatre is beautiful!
This was my first time seeing Les Mis. I am always amazed by performances with children in them - these kids are soo talented and it is a pleasure seeing them shine. The whole cast was wonderful.
The venue, performers, orchestra and stage sets were amazing! Couldn’t have been any better!
