  • Good show, not great

    by D. on 7/19/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was good but I did not like the fact that all dialog was sung. At times it was difficult to understand the words.

  • So disappointing

    by J. L. on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

I am so very sorry to say that I was greatly disappointed. Most of the male singers were extremely hard to understand (too much vibrato), especially Jean ValJean. I have seen this musical a couple times before, and it was sadly not even close to previous.

  • Magnificent performance

Loved the show from beginning to the end! The performance of the cast was great! Would love to see it again.

  • The Best Of Them All!

by Prufrock on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I have seen many plays and have viewed Les Mis 4 times. We concur that this play is our favorite because of the depth and nuance of the narrative and the poignancy and beauty of so many of the songs. This production benefits from the sheer # of stellar performances by so many in the cast, with so many having incredible voices. As a testament to the audience's appreciation. as soon as the performance ended, we joined everyone in a standing ovation.

  • Phenomenal voices

by MZ on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Phenomenal voices - I have seen Les Miz Four times. This ranks among the best. The voices of particular the men characters were fantastical! All in all a wonderful performance

  • Great great performance

I was hoping that we get a great cast and sure enough, one of the best performances I’ve watched.

  • Stellar performances!

    by Lisa K on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My ten-year-old daughter’s first time seeing Les Miserables, and it could not have been better. Standout performances by all the principal performers, especially Jean Valjesn, Marius, Fantine, and Cosette. Imaginative staging, as always for Les Mis.

  • Destruction of The "Les Miserables" Legacy

    by G. on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

I just don't know where to begin. I have seen Les Miserables many time over the years and have relied on it being a consistently classic piece of musical history perfect just as is. This go-round at the Cadillac Theatre in Chicago was nothing but a shocking disappointment filled with unnecessary tweaks, scene and dialogue changes and annoying technical flaws. Dialogue and scenes were altered unnecessarily for supposed clarity as if the audience is not capable of figuring out the storyline. Clunky and leaden, these alterations brought absolutely nothing to the story and, in fact, took away from it. The song "On My Own" is meant to be a heartfelt, touching piece sung with passion yet sensitivity. None of that occurred at the Sunday evening performance. The voice of the actress who portrayed Eponine was shrill, and her jittery movements around the stage was a horrible distraction in what was to be a poignant, still moment. Another revamp was the character Marius. The actor who portrayed him made Marius look like a buffoon with uncomfortable comedic additions in his early moments with Cosette. If you really want to see how these characters are supposed to be, look at Lea Salonga and Michael Ball in the roles. Now there is elegance, grace and superior talent with no silly alterations. Technically, the Cadillac Theatre leaves much to be desired. Many moments were difficult to hear which was really pathetic. Along with this, the lighting was horrible with lights coming on after the actors were already on stage. Often, the lighting was so dark it was difficult to see exactly what was transpiring and really took away from the video screen backdrop. Honestly, this was the worst production of "Les Miserables" I have seen. Exiting the theatre, I felt really sad knowing what a triumph it once was. The old adage of if it isn't broke, don't fix it hit the audience like a mallet on Sunday. I only hope this beautiful musical will one day be restored to its grand glory.

  • The Greatest Show Ever

    by Barrynew1 on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Les Miserables is the story of one man's redemption, told in a stunning array of Paris life in the 1820's. We have seen this play 9 times, so this review may be a bit picky. This production contained staging improvements that helped the story flow even better. In my opinion, the lead actor's voice wasn't as strong as others whom we have seen playing Jean Valjean. We thought the same of the actor portraying Thernardier. However, the actresses portraying older Cosette and Madame Thernardier were outstanding.

  • AMAZING

    by A2Jennifer on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The show was absolutely AMAZING. The classic story is so emotional, the music absolutely beautiful. The voices are wonderful. The production was beautiful and wonderfully executed. I don't remember the last time something captured my attention so completely. I don't have the words to express how amazing this was.

  • Great performance

    by M. on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This was a fabulous performance. I’ve seen Les Miz many, many times and this version was a home run. All performers were fantastic. The sound system was perfect, allowing us to hear the singing over the orchestra.

  • Phenomenal, Heartfelt Performance

by Josh on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Still is one of the best out there! Every individual within this cast and crew had put on a truly emotional experience for us in the audience. Shivers, tears, laughs and even the desire to stand up and thrust a fist in the air (don't do that) in support of the revolution, had me during these 3 hours.

  • Want to see it again! And again! And again!

by Love Theater on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Phenomenal. Incredible story and talent. Very emotional, yet provided just enough comic relief. Truly a must see, over and over again.

  • Great Experience

    by k. on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the show, stage was a little dark to see at times. I know the mood is grim at times but lighting should be a bit brighter so the audience can see the set and actors.

  • Very good play...I would go again

by Candice on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My friend Lisa said its the best play she's ever seen. The singing was amazing. So was the scenery.

  • Best play

    by C. on 7/17/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This play is truly the best. From the music to the acting. A timeless classic worth seeing over and over. Loved it

  • Amazing talent

    by C. W. on 7/16/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful venue and amazing cast. The parking spot that we prepaid for with Ticketmaster was in a garage that was pretty well located to the theater as well but we missed the opportunity to scan it at the gate before we got the ticket so we had to connect with staff at the garage and they had to let us out manually because I guess that there isn't another way which seems poorly set up. The staff was helpful to accommodate us so we were grateful for that.

  • Lovely but

by Mimi on 7/16/19Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

One of my favorite musicals- but several performers had trouble finding the right notes in the beginning and that made me nervous for them throughout the play.
