After over 20 years, Les Claypool has regrouped his Fearless Flying Frog for the Summer of Green Tour. Long considered to be one of the animated bassist's most beloved bands, this incarnation of the ever-morphing act boasts longtime Frog Brigade members Skerik (saxophone) and Mike Dillon (percussion, vibraphone), as well as Sean Lennon (guitar), Harry Waters (keyboards) and Paulo Baldi (drums). The regrouping comes just over a decade after the Frog Brigade issued their lone album, Purple Onion, which Tom Waits heralded as one of his favorite records of all time.
Initially conceived during Claypool's short break from Primus in the early 2000s, the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade quickly became known as one of the bassist's most creative and improvisational outfits. Throughout their Summer of Green Tour, the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade will deliver a mix of original material and choice covers from throughout Claypool's rich catalog. The group will also perform Pink Floyd's 1977 psychedelic masterpiece, Animals--a staple on their original run--nightly.
Great show, perfect venue for it. Would definitely go again
Great show! They made it look easy and it was obvious that the band was enjoying themselves. I first saw Les back in 1991 when Primus opened for RUSH, and I am still impressed by him. And Skerik was insane!
Les and the Frog Brigade never disappoint. I was dancing from start to finish. Add the fact it was at The Salt Shed in Chicago and I would rate it an 11. The Salt Shed is my new favorite venue. Great music and good times all around.
This was the second time seeing The Frog Brigade and was definitely a treat !!! Sean Lennon and the rest of the band was on fire and Les treated us with a little solo the melted faces !!!
Amazing show, amazing performance, amazing setlist and amazing musicians! Not to be missed!
Good show overall. Les & Co were solid but a one song encore was lacking.
Awesome show, Les never fails his fans. He always entertains, and keeps things interesting.
I have an extremely deep and abiding love for all things Les Claypool. This was the first time I've listened with Sean Lennon on the stage and was gleefully floored by his noodling. Did not expect it to be so good! I mean really, really good. At the end of the show, I wanted to go on tour! The mixing had its issues. I had trouble hearing Skerik and Mike Dillon. Both deserve their spot in the monstrously talented band and should be treated as equals in the mix. Loved getting the complete Animals album. Would a complete "Discipline"by King Crimson ever get broken out?
Known of Primus and Oysterhead, but first time hearing of the Flying Frog Brigade. Absolutely awesome! We had VIP tickets for the M&G and Q&A, which made for an exceptional experience at this show.
For the first time in my 58 years, I sprung for the VIP experience. It was well worth it. Very well run (despite confusion with some of the Palace venue staff) and smooth. Great show. I recently had liver transplant so my legs were very weak. Unfortunately, everyone in front of me stood the entire show and it killed me to have to stand so long. I'd still do it again!!
Main interest was to see Animals performed. With no previous experience with other Les Claypool projects, King Crimson or Primus, was not sure what to expect. I was impressed with the whole band and overall Setlist was great with interesting covers. Would see this group again if schedule allowed. Highly recommend!!
Loved the nearly 3 1/2 hour show. I knew it would be good because we’ve seen Les before but they went way beyond expectations. Les is a bass virtuoso. I would dare say all of the 4 guys in the Brigade are them selves virtuosos. The Salt Shed is a perfect place to see them. Had the premium tickets. Well worth the extra cost. Do not miss these guys if you get the chance.
Les Claypool and the flying froggies rocked it out. I think I’m still bricked up from the show. The sound they put out is incredible.
Salt shed is a cool place for any show to take place to start and Les Claypool's fearless flying frog brigade did not disappoint. My first time seeing them live and definitely it was worth it.
I have been to my fair share of memorable shows with great performances… This was the best!! Les really knows how to put on a great show!!!
Flying frogs is the best experience possible. Please do many more shows! Long live the winking frog eye!
The sound was fantastic, as usual, and I brought a few new fresh faces that loved the show. I'd recommend Frog Bridade to anyone.
Better than I expected. Every song was perfectly played. "They played Pink Floyd better than Pink Floyd."-My Friend.
This was the greatest show I've ever been to. The Animals set should shame Roger Waters.
Entering in every aspect of the show. Had a great time.
