  • Sound great and are funny

by MoreSassy on 3/15/11Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

I took my Mom to this show for her birthday and did not think I would like it, but I was completely wrong! They were great! Some of the songs lasted a long, long time; but the dancing they added helped.

  • A great night with Ladysmith Black Mambazo

When my wife told me she wanted to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo . . . I said, "Who?!?" I am also glad I said, "OK." We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. LBM put on a wonderful show that was more than just great harmonies. Their showmanship was fun and their music was inspiring. All in all it was absolutely a perfect night out.

I was introduced to the music of Ladysmith Black Mambazo perhaps 20 years ago while living in France, and loved the soothing harmonies and rhythm. What amazed me at this concert was how their voices sounded as one voice, the blending was done so well. Was an evening well spent!

  • Ladysmith brings food for the soul to Durham

by coverbandfan on 3/13/11Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

I didn't understand most words sung by Black Mambazo; but like a great opera that transcends language, their music penetrates the heart and sours your soul to a beautiful place.

  • Ladysmith Black Mambazo was quite ecstasy!

by Anonymous on 3/13/11Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

It was engaging, entertaining, yet powerful. I'm going to take the words of another friend who went along with me and referred to this event as "quiet ecstasy." It was awesome!

As always these men put on a great show. I would have liked to have them introduced, especially as far as family relationships go. But it is amazing to see Mr. Joseph kick as high as he does at his age! It gives one great hope!! I hope Ladysmith Black Mambazo continue to return to the Triangle area, they are fantastic ambassadors of a very beautiful country.

  • Ladysmith Black Mambazo was AMAZING

    by Mawwy84 on 3/12/11Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I left the show feeling happy and empowered because their message was "peace, love and harmony", which was felt throughout the show. They were extremely dynamic! It was especially fun to see each member of the group get his time to shine- either through a solo performance or dance move.

  • Outstanding Ladysmith Black Mambazo show!

    by sinatra70 on 3/12/11Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I had the opportunity to attend Ladysmith Black Mambazo's show at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium, and it was absolutely incredible. The music was uplifting, joyful, and at times very emotional, and the group did a wonderful job of connecting with the audience. I have been a fan for years, but this was the first time I had had the opportunity see them in person - having been, it definitely will not be the last!

Ladysmith Black Mambazo held the audience at rapt attention as nine men with microphones produced one beautiful song after another. The harmonies and rhythms were precise and the songs ranged from funny to touching. A tremendous evening of entertainment. HIghly recommended.
