Ladysmith Black Mambazo was Amazing!
by AvefromQueens on 3/21/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5My only regret is that it ended too soon. What an amazing display of talent. Felt every note, made me laugh and made me feel like a part of Africa came to America for a day. Next time I will bring more people. Loved it!
Ladysmith Black Mambazo - Joyful Cultural Treasure
by BabyBabyBoomer64 on 3/21/12B.B. King's - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Ladysmith Black Mambazo are such an amazing group to see perform live! They had the entire audience enthralled and more to their credit that their only instruments are their voices. Joseph Shabalala, their founder and composer is simply phenomenal and appears to be ageless because of his vibrancy, while each of the other group singers got opportunities to showcase their talents. If they ever come to perform near you, GO! I would see them again in an instant. I felt blessed to experience their singing live.
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing Evening!
by PickyMusicLover on 3/21/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5I was literally in tears of joy at the end of the evening! I can't wait for the next concert so I may come to Amsterdam to see them next!! And the venue, while not known for world music, was much nicer and well-attended than I thought it would be with truly wonderful, amazing table-guests. Seriously the best Monday I've had all year!!
Black Mambazo always a good show....
by Madiba on 3/4/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5Black Mambazo are the best African group. They bring the best out of Africa
Ladysmith was wonderful!
by Tweetie2 on 3/4/12Uptown Napa Theatre - NapaRating: 5 out of 5My husband and I went to see Ladysmith two nights ago. Wonderful show!! They had a mixture of young and not-so-young entertainers that were harmonious, agile, funny, and delightfully entertaining. Their sound is terrific. You almost forget they are singing with only their voices as instruments! Loved the show. The opening act (Voena) was a wonderful surprise - magnificent children's choir! Had a wonderful date night. Will definitely go again. Recommend all ages. Wish we had taken our grandchildren.

Excellent concert! A lot more than just singing!
by flgatoralumni on 2/21/12Ritz Theatre - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5Ladysmith Black Mambazo was very entertaining!!! I came across them on XM radio years ago and thought it would be a good experience to see them live. I feel very fortunate that I took advantage of the opportunity! They were funny, entertaining, and just a delightful class act! I wish them the best of luck as they continue to spread their music.
Musically Moving
by RachelJax on 2/21/12Ritz Theatre - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5For anyone who loves unique music, Ladysmith Black Mambazo shouldn't be missed. Their voices are wonderful and their demeanor eager and friendly. The dance choreography and humor seemed 'silly' at times, but this may be due to my inexperience with South African dance style? Overall, it was a good show at a very reasonable price.

Awesome as usual, third time I've seen them. Do not miss them.
More than I could ask for!!
by Shakuhachi1 on 2/10/12Southern Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5Oh my gosh!!! This was the most awesome music event I've ever been to......I've listened to LBM since late 80's and finally got to see them. Setting one row behind the pit, it was like they were singing just to me. Each one of them had a distinct personality and they really fed off each other even after being together all these years. It seemed unbelieveable that those sounds were produced so effortlessly, especially throughout the very long performances. I can't say enough about them and would go again in a heartbeat. It was my first trip to the Southern Theatre and every one on the staff there, from the doormen to the ushers were super, super nice. Safe environment and super close parking......I'll be back.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo
by DQ54 on 2/10/12Southern Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5Wonderful only come close. We felt the music deep within and the energy was totally impressive. We happened to run into OSU President Gee in the lobby of the Southern at intermission and he was thrilled and all smiles about the concert. Great concert, great message, and great Venue!!!!!!!!! Beautiful harmonies and spiritually inspiring. it is truly a miracle they through music it has inabled them to transcend the hatred and bigotry of apartheid and the depths of a poverty americans have no concept of. They are the true origins of humankind.

The band was quite good, and venue was exceptional.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo was less than I expected.
by reviewLBM on 2/3/12Fox Cities PAC - AppletonRating: 1 out of 5It would have been nice if someone would explain why the performers were constantly kicking their foot in the air. Is this some sort of local dance step, a right of passage into manhood? It was , at best amusing , and at worst , distracting from the music. Some - on person - microphones are an essential if your going to walk completely away from the stationary microphones. Would someone please get these people some appropriate sound equipment !!! The song selection choice was less than exemplary. I think at least one of the songs these people sang should have been something they are noted for. Wonderful that they are constantly writing new music, but the new songs varies so little as to be carbon copies. I would say this group has great potential, and with a bit more of direction and equipment they have the potential of being a good show. As presented, I can only assume they were affected by the cold weather, and maybe homesick.
