About

Kevin James began his career as a stand-up on the Long Island comedy scene. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom.

The King of Queens, which premiered in 1998, ran for nine seasons on CBS with James starring and executive producing, and it garnered him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The show concluded its run in 2007 but continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world. James also starred in, and executive produced The Crew, a sitcom set in the world of NASCAR and is currently developing a single camera comedy (both for Netflix).

James brought his stand-up act to TV with Sweat the Small Stuff, a one-hour special for Comedy Central. Kevin James and Ray Romano executive produced and starred in the HBO Sports Special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach; a documentary about the Pebble Beach Pro Am Golf Tournament that was nominated for a Sports Emmy. His second comedy special Never Don't Give Up premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim.

James was the producer, co-writer, and star of the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 & 2, Zookeeper, and Here Comes The Boom. James made his feature film debut in Columbia Pictures' Hitch starring opposite Will Smith, and starred alongside Adam Sandler in Pixels, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Hubie Halloween. He starred in the feature True Memoirs of an International Assassin for Netflix, the independent action thriller Becky, and starred in and produced Home Team for Netflix.

My husband and I really enjoyed this show. Funny and always entertained. Even the opening comic was good! We saw Jerry Seinfeld about a year ago at DPAC and this show was much better!!!

Kevin James - Best Stand Up Comedian

by SoIThinkYouCanDance on 4/12/12Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

After watching King of Queens in syndication for years and Sweat the Small Stuff more times than I can count it was great to get to see him in person. He has all new material and his delivery of each subject is priceless. He is looking a little rough again, but plays right into dicussing raising his kids, weight gain, moving walkways, and sharing food to name a few. If you can see him live, I would definitely take advantage of it since he rarely does stand up tours. Overall well worth price of admission!

    A good show

by DisplacedTheaterFan on 4/12/12DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

This was an enjoyable show, but not the best i've seen. Kevin James was very funny but reused some material from his comedy central special which was at least 5 years old. The opener, who I believe travels with Kevin and does not change show to show, was pretty weak and was on for about a half hour. I would recommend this show but not enthusiastically.

    Kevin James delivered the laughs!

by wildblue12 on 4/12/12DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

The show started about 10 minutes later than advertised, and since I'm 6'7" sitting in cramped space, every extra minute hurts. But the warmup comedian helped break the ice and loosen things up a lot. I can't remember his name, so that might say something about the overall level of laughs I thought he supplied. But Kevin James was really, really funny. I had doubts when he first came out - he looked a little tired and maybe not too thrilled to be in Durham. But within a few minutes he found his stride, and the laughs! I almost cried a couple of times, I laughed so hard. This guy is really as talented as you see on TV.

Being a big time fan of the King of Queens, it was pretty special to see Kevin up close, making gestures and comments that he's known for using on the show. He's hilarious and always makes me laugh. Never get tired of watching the TV show reruns! I wish Arthur had made a guest appearance during his act.

    Absolutely Hilarious!

by JHolt on 4/12/12DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Wow, such a great show! Opening act was hilarious and a perfect way to start the evening. Wasn't sure what to expect from Kevin James having not done stand up in a while. He was fantastic! So incredibly funny and entertaining. Love all of the stories about his kids - real stuff! Both Kevin & the opening act interacted with the audience which was great. Highly recommend this show!

    Kevin James was mediocre.

by LiveTheaterLover58 on 4/12/12DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

What a disappointment! I've thoroughly enjoyed Kevin James' comedic talents in the King of Queens and was really looking forward to seeing him live. I can best describe his performance as flat and lackluster. He revisited several "bits" from the King of Queens and while he had a few funny moments, I barely chuckled.

    Kevin James

by Kevin2 on 4/12/12DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

It was OK - but on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being great) I give it a 6. He played an hour. Really funny a few times but overall average. For the money we were charged I would have liked him to be there for more time.

    Hilarious!!!

by PSwell on 4/12/12Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center - Atlanta

Kevin was hilarious! Minervini, the opener, was really funny too. Kevin's observations about life in general are so true and that is what I think makes them so funny. I wish he would have gone a little more than an hour but I would probably be saying that if he had performed for two hours.

    FUNNY!

    by theVinman1 on 4/9/12Mohegan Sun - Uncasville

Kevin James is one of the most funniest comedians ever and he does not even have to use profanity. We had an awesome time. I would recommend this show to everyone and would see him again and again.

    Lots of funny was brought

by kcphil on 4/9/12Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I had never really seen much of Kevin James outside of "King of Queens", but my wife loved his Comedy Central special. So we got tickets to the show to check it out. I really enjoyed it, and my wife said that most of it was new material, but she enjoyed seeing the stuff she saw on tv. My only "issues" were the 2 drunk girls in front of us and the little to no leg room.
