JOYWAVE IN CONCERT:
Few bands can get self-restrained indie rock fans dancing with reckless abandon quite like Joywave. The New York-based quintet blends sunny indie melodies with disco beats and shimmering synths, and the result is a seriously party-worthy sound that always gets fans moving their feet. In concert frontman Daniel Armbruster delivers his effortlessly cool vocals with plenty of style, and fans can't help but boogie along with him as he shakes to the driving rhythms of tracks like "Destruction". Whether they're performing their breakout hit "Dangerous" or rocking out to the anthemic chorus of "Tongues", Joywave brings plenty of feel-good disco energy to the stage every time they perform.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Joywave formed in Rochester, NY in 2010 and made their debut the following year with the single "Ridge". They self-released their first EP Koda Vista in 2012, and in 2013 they topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart with "Dangerous", a collaboration with Brooklyn-based indietronica producer Big Data. The exposure from that breakout hit led to a flurry of critical attention, and the band made good on all the buzz in 2014 with their second EP How Do You Feel. As the singles "Tongues" and "Somebody New" racked up plays online, the band hit the road for extensive touring that included a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live. After touring they returned to the studio, and in 2015 they released their full-length debut album How Do You Feel Now? The album was a critical and commercial success, cracking the Top 40 on both the Alternative and Rock charts and drumming up major excitement for their tour in support of the release.

I caught Joywave as an opening act in Detroit years ago....their energy dominated the night and i have to say....they were better than the headliner of the tour. I'm 54 this year and have been to well over 500 concerts of all types of music. Only so many bands can bring an energy to a show that just takes over the evening and makes it magic and powerful and special to everyone who is present. Joywave is 1 of those bands I've seen Joywave 3 times now and even had tickets to Majestic theatre show in Detroit right as covid ruined the tour....i still have the tickets on my fridge in hopes of their return...and didn't want my money back or to return tickets. I assumed if i just kept the tickets that the money would make it's way to the band to help them out during the covid shut down. Do yourself a favor and try not to miss a live performance with Joywave... I have all their albums on vinyl...even a band signed copy of Possesion Believe the other reviews They are incredible... Talent...Energy..FUN...Great songs... I only wish more new bands were like them
Just full of energy. Love the catchy tunes. You just want to dance to em'
Great concert. Lots of energy!! Love the small venue!!!! I would definitely go see these bands again.
Joywave put on an amazing show! The venue was great. Service was very good and the overall experience was top notch.
First time to venue. General admission, big floor, no seats, VIP table area, adequate bar and lite fare menu. Donna Missal was added to show. She was beautiful and soulful and her voice and lyrics leave you knowing she is genuine. Joywave came on next and have a quirky and engaging stage presence to compliment their amazing songs. Sir Sly wrapped up the show with an energetic and personal show that left me appreciating their music on another level. Great launch of the new Joywave/Sir Sly tour. Would highly recommend seeing any of these artists in concert if you like their songs. Would like to see more shows at this venue.
They always put on such a good show. Wish it could’ve been longer.
First time at venue and it was great. Large general admission floor, no seats, small VIP table area, lite fare menu and adequate bar. Donna Missal added to show and she was beautiful and soulful and her voice and lyrics leave no doubt she is genuine. Joywave took the stage next and they have a quirky and engaging stage presence to compliment thier amazing songs. Sir Sly wrapped it up with an energetic and personal set that has me enjoying their music on another level now. Overall great show to kick off the Joywave/Sir Sly tour. Highly recommend seeing them in concert if you like any songs from these artists.
Baltimore Sound Stage is really small and intimate. The sound system is not overpowering and you really have a great concert experience. I was about 10 feet from the stage. Both Joywave and Sir Sly gave excellent performances. The crowd was mixed ages and very excited to see the bands
Three great bands. The venue was awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better night.
Joywave puts on a great show! Grandson was great!!
Every one of their songs are incredible and every one of their songs is the song you're waiting to hear.
These guys are great songwriters and performers. Polished. Funny. Fun. Sounded great. Hope they come back soon!
Joywave put on a show and worked the crowd like a violin! I wasn't sure about how their singing would translate live, but i wasnt disappointed.
Seriously, the concert of the year. The venue was great, intimate and the volume not painfully loud. Everything about Joywave was perfect. They sounded great, played for over an hour, and everyone danced and sang along. It was a fun evening. Can’t wait to see them again!
Joywave is always amazing at pumping up the crowd.
Had a great time with my girlfriend. Love the venue, small and intimate.
I didn't know much about Joywave and no knowledge of the opening groups, however I was delightfully impressed with the songwriting and the energy every band brought to the stage. Venue was clean and service was excellent. I would go back again and see any of the 3 groups performing.
Great show... great guys , will see them next time they make it to Philly!
Opener the Aces - very new but have potential/ good Nirvana cover. Joywave better than expected - alot if energy even in the smaller venue - musically very solid. Fun concert would see Joywave again !
