About Jamey Johnson
Chart-topping country music artist Jamey Johnson has hit songs to spare. As a songwriter, he's penned No. 1's for artists like Trace Adkins and George Strait, but it's his award-winning solo material that has earned him his latest batch of honors. His fourth studio album, 2012's Living For A Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, garnering praise from critics and a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album. Born in Alabama, Johnson set his sights on music after seeing his idol Alan Jackson perform live in concert. After eight years of service in the US Marine Corps, he moved to Nashville and began writing songs and performing in small clubs. His 2006 major label debut The Dollar landed in the Top 20 of the Country Albums chart, paving the way for similar successes with The Lonesome Song in 2008 and The Guitar Song in 2010. Johnson gained an even bigger following in 2011 as an opening act on Kid Rock’s Born Free Tour, which introduced him to a new group of ticket buyers. At his 2013 live shows, Johnson treated fans to his stripped-down, honest approach to country, building anticipation for his 2014 tour.

One look at Jamey Johnson should be enough to tell you he’s a guy who doesn’t mess around. With his prodigious beard, burly frame, and take-no-guff bearing, he seems like he could have been a bouncer in another life instead of a killer country singer/songwriter. And when he’s on stage, Johnson doesn’t waste a second showing off, he just stands his ground and bears down on the songs, focusing in with laser-like precision on exactly what’s necessary to wring the maximum impact and emotion out of hits like “In Color” and “High Cost of Living” without resorting to even the tiniest amount of excess. When you go to a Jamey Johnson show, you leave knowing you’ve seen the real deal when it comes to modern-day outlaw country.
Jamey Johnson Background
Jamey Johnson exploded onto the country music scene in the 2000s as a man who’d taken up the mantle of outlaw country icons like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson and added his own imprint to bring it up to date. Born in Alabama, Johnson eventually made his way to Nashville, where he slogged it out in the honky-tonks and learned his trade the old-school way. When he first began to break through, he did it mostly as a writer for other artists, like Trace Adkins, whose hit “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” came from Johnson’s pen. Johnson found his first taste of success with the title track from his 2006 album The Dollar, but two years later he emerged with a more raw, idiosyncratic sound on That Lonesome Song and earned a Platinum record for his efforts. Ever since then, Johnson’s rich, deep pipes and no-nonsense tunes have been speaking in a major way to listeners who value classic country style but still want something new.
Always love Jamey Johnson, however the acoustics in the theater were awful. I was blaringly loud and the base sound muffled out Jamey's voice so that most of the time you could not hear what he was singing. I've been to the Choctaw Grand Theater on several occasions and the sound has always been great. I'm not sure what happened this time, but it was not a great experience!
It was a great show and I had front row seats. Choctaw Theater is not the best unless you are on the front row due to the fact that everyone thinks they have to stand up in order to enjoy the show. Lets face it...the performer doesn't know you and you are not impressing him by waving your drink and arms in the air. It just keeps people from enjoying the show that can't stand. Being on the front row was nice except for the drunks next to me that kept spilling drinks on my wife and the people behind them. It would be great if the show personnel could provide some form of crowd control. I will not go back there for a concert.

We drove from the DFW area to Durant to see you. Well worth the drive and the motel room. Not much of a gambler, just came for you!
I’ve seen Jamey a number of times now and he never disappoints. Great singer, songwriter and musician. Extremely talented musicians in the band. If you get a chance to see him don’t miss it!
I have been to a LOT of concerts at this venue and this was not one of the best. We have seen Jamey in this venue before and it was a great show. This show was different. From what I could tell, Jamey sang great, but his guitar and music overpowered his singing so bad - his guitar music was WAY too loud. In addition, the folks in the “box” seats behind us were partying and talking so loud, it ruined my experience. They literally had (screaming) conversations during the entire concert and never stopped to listen to the singing. It was a miserable experience.
Awesome seats and Jamey put on a great concert. Just missed not hearing "Mowing down the roses"Otherwise, it was great!

Been to several Jamey Johnson shows and they each are so different and every one tops the last. He covers some classic tunes and of course plays his own, always has such a great full band backing him! His stage & sound crew are top notch. His backup singer is country music royalty. Priceless experiences!!
His concerts are just so wonderful. He is an artist with classic country vibes. He is just what is expected from fans that love all the old school guys.
Really enjoyed the show. Jamey seemed really comfortable in the small venue (3000 seat arena). Especially enjoyed seeing his dad perform a few songs with him (included In Color & a gospel song). The apple doesn't fall far from the tree haha.

Very good concert. No added fluff to waste time. Just a straight up concert with the artist singing.
The whole experience was great. From the ordering of tickets to booking the hotel room. Concert was incredible. Enjoyed sound and atmosphere of band.
The show was only 1.5hrs for the price of a normal 3-4 hour show..causal performance nothing to write home about.

Loved Jamey Johnson this is the 4th time I have have tickets to see him in Cherokee something came up every time but I finally got to see him and I Loved his concert
