About Jamey Johnson

Chart-topping country music artist Jamey Johnson has hit songs to spare. As a songwriter, he's penned No. 1's for artists like Trace Adkins and George Strait, but it's his award-winning solo material that has earned him his latest batch of honors. His fourth studio album, 2012's Living For A Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, garnering praise from critics and a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album. Born in Alabama, Johnson set his sights on music after seeing his idol Alan Jackson perform live in concert. After eight years of service in the US Marine Corps, he moved to Nashville and began writing songs and performing in small clubs. His 2006 major label debut The Dollar landed in the Top 20 of the Country Albums chart, paving the way for similar successes with The Lonesome Song in 2008 and The Guitar Song in 2010. Johnson gained an even bigger following in 2011 as an opening act on Kid Rock’s Born Free Tour, which introduced him to a new group of ticket buyers. At his 2013 live shows, Johnson treated fans to his stripped-down, honest approach to country, building anticipation for his 2014 tour.

Jamey Johnson in Concert

One look at Jamey Johnson should be enough to tell you he’s a guy who doesn’t mess around. With his prodigious beard, burly frame, and take-no-guff bearing, he seems like he could have been a bouncer in another life instead of a killer country singer/songwriter. And when he’s on stage, Johnson doesn’t waste a second showing off, he just stands his ground and bears down on the songs, focusing in with laser-like precision on exactly what’s necessary to wring the maximum impact and emotion out of hits like “In Color” and “High Cost of Living” without resorting to even the tiniest amount of excess. When you go to a Jamey Johnson show, you leave knowing you’ve seen the real deal when it comes to modern-day outlaw country.

Jamey Johnson Background

Jamey Johnson exploded onto the country music scene in the 2000s as a man who’d taken up the mantle of outlaw country icons like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson and added his own imprint to bring it up to date. Born in Alabama, Johnson eventually made his way to Nashville, where he slogged it out in the honky-tonks and learned his trade the old-school way. When he first began to break through, he did it mostly as a writer for other artists, like Trace Adkins, whose hit “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” came from Johnson’s pen. Johnson found his first taste of success with the title track from his 2006 album The Dollar, but two years later he emerged with a more raw, idiosyncratic sound on That Lonesome Song and earned a Platinum record for his efforts. Ever since then, Johnson’s rich, deep pipes and no-nonsense tunes have been speaking in a major way to listeners who value classic country style but still want something new.

    Jamey rocked it

by Donna on 1/18/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

I had an absolute amazing time. Great venue and Jamey was a pure sweetheart. Love seeing him and listening to him sing and play. Such a talent. His dad even sang a couple of songs with him- so special.

    Best Concert

by JameyJohnson fan 4ever on 1/18/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

We saw Jamey at Harrahs Cherokee and it was a great concert! It was an intimate setting and felt like he was talking right to you. We got the privledfe of seeing his dad sing a song or two with him and saw him say goodbye to to his guitarist of 20 plus years.

    Amazing experience

by Tina_Y on 1/18/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

Jamey Johnson and his band put on an absolutely incredible performance. It felt like such an intimate setting. The only complaints I have were that when people stood up, the entire section of seats moved and if someone was moving a lot your seat moved as well.

Great concert - but it only lasted 1.5 hours

by RCJ on 1/17/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

I love the artist - but it was only an hour and a half of music. Only 1 of his original hits were played. The rest of the music was all cover songs.

    A diffrent experience

by Robin on 1/17/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

We have seen Jamey Johnson other places and it was a great show. I was a little disappoined in the venue. The seats we uncomfortable and the crowd was load and talked the entire show and not about the show. We really could not enjoy the music due to all the talking and activity. Not sure if its because of where the venue is in a casino but not the best show ive seen

    Awesome Experience

by VickyG on 1/16/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

I was worried that I would not fully enjoy this concert being I was not real familiar with many of his songs. It was great! Not only did I really enjoy his music and all his band mates, but I have never been to anything (I’m talking 40 years of all kinds of concerts) where the Audience had so much energy. It was obvious before the concert even began the loyalty and love the audience has for him. This energy was constant until the very end. Just an overall awesome experience!

    Music was great but....

by Countrymusiclover on 1/16/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

Jamey's music was excellent! However, the audience was unruly, load and obnoxious! Couldn't hear the music about half the time. There was so much loud whistling, yelling, whooping, and hollering. The man beside us was jumping around in his seat like a Mexican jumping bean making it feel like our entire section was on a bouncy ride. We paid to hear the music and appreciate Jamey Johnson and his band. If we'd wanted the experience the crowd gave the event we could have went to any Friday night bar a hell of a lot cheaper. Thank you Jamey Johnson for the wonderful music that we heard when we could.

This concert was incredible. He not only sounded amazing live, he keeps his songs going from one to another sometimes without a break. You definitely get what you paid for plus more.

by S. Young on 12/19/22United Wireless Arena - Dodge City

Have wanted to see Jamey Johnson forever and I have to say it was the best concert I have been to in a long long time! The music was great and the entire event had all the audience participating.

    Ok

by Heidi on 12/13/22The Showroom at the Golden Nugget - Las Vegas

Jamey was amazing. He connected with the audience and was very charming. The problem was not with Jamey, but with his band!!! His horn players were horrible! Missed notes, too long of solos, loud, and out of tune! Sadly, his band ruined the experience. Would I see him again? Yes. Would I pay another $250 to see him? No

    Jamey Johnson & Blackberry Smoke

by Fan on 9/23/22Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill - Sterling Heights

Loved Blackberry Smoke and Jamey Johnson! It was an awesome combination! Only downside was paying for premium front row seats and having standing room pit open in front of them. Previous concert had seats right up to the stage.

GREAT Time was had by all

by Hotty Toddy KK on 9/19/22L'Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge - Baton Rouge

The venue was fantastic, absolute perfect size, warm Louisiana hospitality at every turn. Can not say enough good things about the style venue and intimate size of the crowd! JJ came out and wow’d the crowd expected! Played beautiful music. Interacted with the crowd. It was GREAT….until 1/2 way through the FINAL song he (JJ) stopped playing and singing and announced that too many people were talking, he then confronted a front row guest that said “you have got to be kidding me. That sucks” and JJ WALKED OFF the stage!!!!! We all kept waiting on him to come back out and make a joke or something, but after several minutes his crew started packing up and the hotel staff asked everyone to leave! Mic drop 🎤 I was disappointed to say the least. Not in his music or the concert, but his actions 😔 Makes me sad, because I am TRULY a fan and LOVE his style of music!!!

    Walked off stage

by Jimmy Mc on 9/19/22L'Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge - Baton Rouge

Jamey Johnson walked off the stage mid-song because he said people were talking in the front. Not sure why he didn’t get security to escort them out so everyone else could see the end of the show
