FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Contemporary folk icons Indigo Girls have had a long tenure as torchbearers of a modern approach to folk music that incorporates elements of alternative rock, punk, and country into the genre's traditional foundation. Each taking the stage with a guitar and a distinct voice, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray find the right balance of tension and harmony at their live shows, thrilling fans with marathon sets of mainstream hits and cult classics from their extensive catalog. In anticipation of a return to the studio in late 2014 for their 14th album, the Girls are pulling out all the stops on tour, performing alongside some of the country's best symphony orchestras at select dates around the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Childhood schoolmates Amy Ray and Emily Saliers began performing together while attending high school in Atlanta, eventually assuming the name Indigo Girls during their time together at Emory College. Their strong showing on 1987 debut LP Strange Fires set the stage for their self-titled 1989 sophomore album, which scored them their first hit with "Closer to Fine" and received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. 1994's Swamp Ophelia would be an even bigger success, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and going on to receive platinum certification from the RIAA. Over two and a half decades, the Indigo Girls have endured as one of folk's most beloved alternative acts, showing no signs of slowing with new material and a tour in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Absolutely fantastic show, Amy and Emily are very talented musicians, but when you add a 75 piece backup band to their music, it hits new heights."

"Best musical performance I have ever seen. Seeing the Indigo Girls play with a symphony orchestra was incredible."

"It was amazing to hear this duo and their powerful harmonies played with a full symphony orchestra. I have seen them live before, but this was a special event."

    Such a GREAT venue!!

by Gnav on 6/26/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Great show! Amy sounded amazing. Emily seemed a little off. I hope she is doing well. Bass player was top notch (as was the drummer). Humphreys is such a great venue. Staff was GREAT! Will def go to another show there. Dinner and ticket package is second to none.

LOVE the band, disappointed in the venue

by TikiLynn on 6/26/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

The Indigo Girls were WONDERFUL. But the venue security was poor. A bunch of drunk and very high people from the back kept running up and pushing into aisles and blocking the view of the people in the front 6 rows. Towards the end, a crowd rushed the stage and security lost all control.

Show was amazing and the venue fantastic! I love the Indigo Girls and it’s always a pleasure to see them at the Chevalier.

Passion was there, but the beautiful harmonies were not.

    by B. s. on 6/20/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Not sure if they were ill, but the vocals and harmonies were below average at best, painful at worst. Emily struggled mightily. A for effort, C- for the musical experience. Chevalier Theater was a sweat box, which didn't help.

    Very different than before

by Coffeegurl on 6/20/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

I've seen Indigo Girls probably 7-8 times and they are never a disappointment. That said, this time felt a bit different. Many more of Amy's songs than Emily's and some I wasn't even familiar with. Also the audience was just lower energy -- lots more men and older folks, and it just seemed somehow off of what my typical experience has been.

    good concert

    by P. M. on 6/20/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

The Indigo Girls put on a good, high energy show. Their band was tight. I had a few quibbles, however. The sound system was not great. It was often hard to hear the singers over the band, never mind make out the lyrics. Second, someone made the decision not to put on the AC. I am estimating that there were at least several hundred people in the Chevalier Theatre, and by the end of the evening, it was oppressive in the theatre. Finally, the lead in person (and I never did hear/make out his name) was not a very compelling performer. One of the Indigo Girls explained that he had helped them out when they were starting out when they were in Athens GA back in the 80's, so that is nice, but I really did not enjoy his music. I also did not appreciate that from the time he exited the stage, it took 30 minutes for the Indigo Girls to take the stage. I feel, however, that I am over-accentuating the negative. The show was a lot of fun, and the Indigo Girls have a very strong stage presence.

    Harmonies Struggled

    by B. s. on 6/19/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Not a great show. The audience connection and passion were there. The harmonies and vocals were not. Maybe an off night, or they were ill, particularly Emily. The Chevalier Theater was hot and steamy. Not an enjoyable experience.

    Best Ever!

by Ei on 6/18/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

I’ve seen the Indigo Girls before but with the full band of amazing musicians and even Lucy Wainwright Roche AND an incredible crowd and great venue… it all came together to be one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.

Great but a little too long

by Becs on 6/18/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

The Indigo Girls were amazing. I wish the opening act was a little shorter – one hour was a bit too long.

The Indigo Girls always put on a great show.

    by rgcs1123 on 6/18/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

The Chevalier Theater was too hot . The weather wasn’t super hot outside, but the air inside the theater was still and everyone I saw was sweating, including those on stage. There should have been better circulation, or have fans and the doors open to direct fresh air inside.

Alas- no songs from ‘Closer to Fine’

by Tommy Somerville on 6/18/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Once again very disappointed (after spending a lot of money for this concert) that no songs from their 1989 breakout album were included in the set list. As was evident from the song, Galileo, towards the end, the crowd really got into it- yet we don’t hear ‘Closer To Fine, Secure Yourself, Kid Fears’, etal? Call me nostalgic but this is what we boomers would like to hear!

    Amazing energy- great show!

by S. M. on 6/12/23Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New York

Given how long this duo has been rockin', I wasn't sure what to expect, but they were amazing! High energy show which included all of the classic jams we love as well as some deep cuts. Voices sounded amazing- would highly recommend/love to see again!

    Fun Show

by L. on 6/12/23Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park - Atlanta

Chastain is a great venue and the temperatures were perfect for a June evening. My only real complaint about the venue is that the only water they had was in cans, and had a strong aftertaste. And prices are ridiculous, of course. The show was really good, and though I knew nothing of them, Larkin Poe was really great. And we got to hear most of the big hits of the Indigo girls, plus new material. Some of the new stuff was pretty good, and some kind of meh. And part of it may have been that Emily has lost some of her vocal ability, so the harmonies don't quite ring the way they once did. Amy, on the other hand, still sounds amazing.

Indigo Girls at Chastain June 2023

by A true fan...from a long time ago. on 6/12/23Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park - Atlanta

I love the Indigo Girls. From a long long time ago. This was a great concert. They are fantastic musicians and always put on a great show. My two negative impressions are this...Amy Ray's voice is strong enough to sing over the band, Emily's is not. The band drowned her out quite a bit. And they did not play enough older stuff. I know as musicians they want to do a range, but when you go see a concert you want to sing along. And there was some older stuff, but I would have personally liked more. They don't need a band, and if they want one it needs to be a little softer on their microphones, or louder on the girls' microphones. It will never stop me from loving them, but a 4 concert could have easily been a 5.

    Sad to see the decline…

by Equality hurts No One on 6/12/23Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park - Atlanta

It’s so unfortunate and sad to hear Emily’s voice failing her after years of angelic harmony. They are riding their incredibly strong fan base as the quality of their music declines but still a fun evening to experience the love in the air. Larkin Poe was fabulous. Played too briefly (40 minutes) for my liking. I’ve only seen them warm up other acts but I’d like to see them headline.
