Contemporary folk icons Indigo Girls have had a long tenure as torchbearers of a modern approach to folk music that incorporates elements of alternative rock, punk, and country into the genre's traditional foundation. Each taking the stage with a guitar and a distinct voice, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray find the right balance of tension and harmony at their live shows, thrilling fans with marathon sets of mainstream hits and cult classics from their extensive catalog. In anticipation of a return to the studio in late 2014 for their 14th album, the Girls are pulling out all the stops on tour, performing alongside some of the country's best symphony orchestras at select dates around the country.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Childhood schoolmates Amy Ray and Emily Saliers began performing together while attending high school in Atlanta, eventually assuming the name Indigo Girls during their time together at Emory College. Their strong showing on 1987 debut LP Strange Fires set the stage for their self-titled 1989 sophomore album, which scored them their first hit with "Closer to Fine" and received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. 1994's Swamp Ophelia would be an even bigger success, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and going on to receive platinum certification from the RIAA. Over two and a half decades, the Indigo Girls have endured as one of folk's most beloved alternative acts, showing no signs of slowing with new material and a tour in 2014.

"Absolutely fantastic show, Amy and Emily are very talented musicians, but when you add a 75 piece backup band to their music, it hits new heights."
"Best musical performance I have ever seen. Seeing the Indigo Girls play with a symphony orchestra was incredible."
"It was amazing to hear this duo and their powerful harmonies played with a full symphony orchestra. I have seen them live before, but this was a special event."

Worth seeing every time they come to town and then some.
Indigo Girls are just the best. Ten out of ten would recommend.
Sat in area with flat seating (not sloped) near back of first floor. Had trouble seeing. Venue is small. Just a height thing. Also very noisy. Usher was loud. Folks in lobby were loud. Could not hear music. Sound system was poor. Could not make out lyrics clearly. I went to previous events at this venue and had a good experience. So this was major disappointment
Such an incredible, beautiful energy and talent these two bring so many decades after starting out. CD may have some differences in voices of the past but NOTHING compares to their incredible harmonizing, energy, passion, talent, and kindness for the world in person. They didn’t miss a bear bouncing from songs and guitars, and their harmonizing and guitar playing was as gorgeous as ever. I could have watched and listened to them them all night long. We got Romeo &Juliet!! They sounded incredible as always. Great mix of new songs and old favorites. My heart and soul is with the Indigo Girls.
I love the Indigo Girls. I still remember the first time I have heard them. Their music has helped me through many life events over the years, I believe they deserve far more recognition that they have received. I appreciate their social conscience and love their lyrics & harmonies. Hearing Emily's voice now breaks my heart. I respect & appreciate that they still tour together even with Amy's solo career, but I don't know that I can hear them live again 💔
Indigo Girls were amazing! They sang some oldies but goodies and some new ones as well! They also let people sing along with them. The violinist with them was amazing! I also loved that the back drop was banned books!
Usually a favorite concert (have seen them 6x) - but this was just bad. Only 3 songs that could be considered "favorites"and the rest were new, slow, and too angsty. In addition, the concert seemed to be a benefit (was not advertised as such) - on domestic violence and prevention. I am all for a fundraiser concert - but I would like to know ahead of time what I am signing up for as it totally changes the mood that you enter the concert with. Overall - not a great experience - a shame since I have loved the Indigo girls for nearly 30 years.
They turned the place on…singing and dancing in the aisles.
Amy, Emily and a violinist. If you like the Indigo Girls you would have enjoyed the show! Highlights were Galileo and Closer to Fine (not surprising)
Indigo Girls once again rocked the Idaho Botanical Garden. They always show up and give a heartfelt impactful concert. Festival seating and plenty of vendors selling food and drink. It was hot but the garden provided a comfortable setting for a lovely night.
This was a really rich energetic show. The band loves playing - and gave a non-stop 2 1/4 hour set! That said, Emily was not in top voice, sometimes struggling with the full range of the songs. Things were tougher when Emily was singing lead and Amy was handling harmony - the lines were just not melding, and it seemed as though Amy was too up-front, and not always hitting the right notes. That said - 80% of the time these weaknesses didn't come into play and the whole experience was exciting. Amy's solo on Romeo and Juliet was scorching!
Show was superb. Amy and Emily and the band did a really nice job. Excellent mix of songs gave Emily a chance to escape the heat for a few minutes. Sound at the beginning was perfect. For some reason the sound guys slowly, unnecesarily, raised the volume until it became somewhat annoying later in the show on some of the songs. But overall, it was a very fun show to attend.
The Luckman is a really nice venue ! its pretty intimate all of the seats have a great view of the stage! The sound is also really good . I adore love the indigo girls and have been following them for years and years !
The venue is a great size for a fairly intimate music listening experience. The Indigo Girls (and their band) were very well polished and put on a great show, with a good mix of some of their older classics and some of their new music. It was a well balanced show with a fun crowd who were obviously enjoying the experience. Definitely a great place to see a band that you know and experience their craft in a unique place.
Fantastic show as usual. Emily’s voice a little strained, but didn’t put a dent in the show. They had the crowd engaged everyone singing —memorable night.
With the exception of the 6 obnoxious, rude, and UNBELIEVABLY LOUD women behind us who "yell-talk"-ed over the headlining artist during their performance, I thpught that the venue was great.
Indigo Girls and the band put on an awesome show! Dinner and room at Humphrey’s were great. Delicious food, big comfy room, and an excellent show.
Fabulous venue, brilliant music, wonderful fans!!!
Absolutely amazing evening at a Humphreys to see Indigo Girls! Beautiful, intimate outdoor venue and the Indigo Girls were awesome! Did the whole package with hotel and dinner and it was totally worth it. Loved this event!
