About

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Contemporary folk icons Indigo Girls have had a long tenure as torchbearers of a modern approach to folk music that incorporates elements of alternative rock, punk, and country into the genre's traditional foundation. Each taking the stage with a guitar and a distinct voice, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray find the right balance of tension and harmony at their live shows, thrilling fans with marathon sets of mainstream hits and cult classics from their extensive catalog. In anticipation of a return to the studio in late 2014 for their 14th album, the Girls are pulling out all the stops on tour, performing alongside some of the country's best symphony orchestras at select dates around the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Childhood schoolmates Amy Ray and Emily Saliers began performing together while attending high school in Atlanta, eventually assuming the name Indigo Girls during their time together at Emory College. Their strong showing on 1987 debut LP Strange Fires set the stage for their self-titled 1989 sophomore album, which scored them their first hit with "Closer to Fine" and received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. 1994's Swamp Ophelia would be an even bigger success, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and going on to receive platinum certification from the RIAA. Over two and a half decades, the Indigo Girls have endured as one of folk's most beloved alternative acts, showing no signs of slowing with new material and a tour in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Absolutely fantastic show, Amy and Emily are very talented musicians, but when you add a 75 piece backup band to their music, it hits new heights."

"Best musical performance I have ever seen. Seeing the Indigo Girls play with a symphony orchestra was incredible."

"It was amazing to hear this duo and their powerful harmonies played with a full symphony orchestra. I have seen them live before, but this was a special event."

    Good concert, bad ushers!

by Samira on 7/11/09Zellerbach Hall - Berkeley

The Indigo Girls, as always, delivered a phenomenal performance as did there opening act, Matt Morris. However, the ushers at Zellerbach were not very nice. They wouldn't even let people stand and dance. It was a bit out of control. I mean really, it was a concert, not a Shakespearean play! Would I recommend the concert? Absolutely! Would I recommend Zellerbach Auditorium? No.

    The Girls are awesome

by IndigoFan on 7/11/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I have seen Amy and Emily 6 or 7 times now and this was their best show. However, I would not recommend the El Rey to anyone, especially if you have children with you or don't want to be crushed or have alcohol spilled on you. It is standing room only, and people will do anything to squeeze in to that two inches between you and the person in front of you. It was just very uncomfortable after a while. The Girls sounded incredible and had an amazing setlist. I wish I could go see them again soon.

    Awesome as usual

by LoveTheGirls on 7/11/09Zellerbach Hall - Berkeley

I've seen them many times and love how they incorporate younger, more struggling artists but I didn't like they guy that opened for them very much.

    Another amazing show!

by CWoz on 7/11/09Zellerbach Hall - Berkeley

No matter how many times I see the Indigo Girls in concert, I never tire of them. This time my husband attended the concert with me. It was a great night for both of us!

Indigo Girls Rocked it Old School!

by revamy on 7/11/09House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

I found the evening to be high energy and the IG's harmonies glorious. I actually shed a tear from sheer happiness during their opening number. Julie Wolf was amazing as their "band" and overall I enjoyed the mix of new with the old. I do admit I hated having to stand for over 4 hours at the venue.....I love me a good chair.

    Indigo Girls at Zellerbach

by elitoons on 7/11/09Zellerbach Hall - Berkeley

I was very excited to see the Indigo Girls. It had been many years since I have seen them live. I live in Berkeley so Zellerbach is an easy beautiful venue, but . . . not a great choice to see the Indigo Girls. It is not a place to dance. Difficult to sit and watch this concert, unable to get up and dance! The warm up musicians were fantastic, a real treat!

    Indigo girls amazing as always

by Sheer on 7/11/09House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

Indigo Girls did a great show, as always - the house of blues is just about the right size venue to see them in, if one has a choice - small enough to feel intimate, large enough to have a good vibe. Matt Morris did a great opening set, as well. Props to the HOB for great sound and lighting - though they really should improve the video display screens or remove them. ;-)
