  • Imelda May was perfect!

    by phoenix06 on 8/4/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Imelda May at the Birchmere simply was fantastic. The Birchmere is a fine venue and Imelda May and all her superb band were absolutely on the mark, each and every time. Their performances were relaxed and polished and a real pleasure to watch and listen to. Each of the musicians: Darrel Higham, Steve Rushton, Dave Priseman and Al Gare would easily be worth seeing by themselves. Together they're something special. At that place on that evening it was "good to be alive"!

  • Class act

    by Swerve2850 on 8/4/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best concerts I've been to, being from England i'm used to large stand up concerts so a small sit down venue was nice and more personal. I really liked the small explanations to some of the songs more of that would break it up a bit. The only thing that i would change about the venue is having to wait to enter once we had the ticket number, i don't see why people couldn't enter at there own leisure. Overall i'm looking to see if i can't see this amazing concert again.

My first concert at the Birchmere was a very pleasant experience. An intimate atmosphere with very good food. Sitting was great. Felt like I was part of the show. Imelda was spectacular! Beautiful lady and great artist. So happy to see her live!

  • Fun show at the Paradise with Imelda May

by ChicoNYC on 8/3/14Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Imelda is super talented and plays a wide variety of music. She is funny, a little rockabilly, a little punk, a little sultry, a just a fun entertainer. Her husband on guitar is top notch as well as the rest of the band. Go see her!

  • Imelda May - Amazing as usual!!

by littleflower on 8/3/14Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my third time seeing Imelda May, and she was amazing as usual. I usually get right up near the stage, but this show I went up to the balcony and the sound was not as good as being on the floor. But overall, the show was great.

  • Amazing Imelda!!

    by Scojo5961 on 8/3/14Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

We don't understand why Imelda May isn't a bigger star than she is. She puts on a great show!! The Paradise Rock Club is a nice small intimate setting for her. Her new song "Tribal" (also the name of her new CD) is fantastic!

  • like no other

by chefjgm on 8/3/14Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Imelda has a voice like no other, it is so strong there is not a note she can't reach. She has so much energy it's infectious. Don't miss her live.

Imelda was fabulous! The band as good as can be! A cross between the Pretenders and rockabilly! A truly great performer with a really strong band. Her husband on guitar and drummer were outstanding. The venue itself stinks as there is no pace to sit and the sound especially at high registers was grossly distorted. But the band was simply awesome.

  • Excellent!

by LyonnessMaine on 8/3/14Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Imelda shows off her tremendous range, from Rockabilly to Blues. Her personality-rich band keeps it rocking. The venue was the only downside. Imelda May deserves better. Standing for four solid hours was not comfortable. You can't dance, you can't sit, you don't dare leave your spot to use the bathroom or get a beer. I'm tall and could see OK if I shifted a lot. The short folks are SOL.

  • Imelda May is Awesome!

by rjsphoto on 8/3/14Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Imelda May and her band are professional musicians and put on an excellent show. The 5 stars are for her. Imelda is always high energy and has a fabulous voice capable of a wide variety of styles. Her music is infectious and covers a gamut of styles. She is not one to be missed as she is only in the States occasionally. Unfortunately, I don't have high ratings for the venue. The sound was too loud (as confirmed by a band member I spoke to after the show) and the lighting was horrible. The drummer was in darkness the whole show. And the other lighting was poor. They clearly didn't know her music, as they were late with the spots, etc. Not professionally done at all. I had just seen Imelda 2 nights before in a small club in NYC, and that sound was superb and the lighting great.

  • Imelda delivers at The Bowery Ballroom!

by GuitarWill on 8/1/14Bowery Ballroom - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

Simply the best songstress and band out there today IMHO. I saw her a few years ago opening for Jeff beck at the Wellmont. No one knew who she was. The audience started paying attention about the third song in and when she sang "Lilac Wine" against Beck's riffs, I couldn't hold the tears back. I've been a fan ever since and will be seeing her for the 5th time at Irving Plaza. Imelda covers all genres with ease. Check out her work with the swing band Blue Harem years ago. Love the new songs on "Tribal"…definitely a more aggressive sound and attitude to boot. Her banter with the audience is precious. She's just a lovely human being. Still a well kept secret but probably not for long. In the meantime I'll continue sneaking as close to the stage as I can get to watch and listen to Imelda, Darryl, Steve, Al, and Dave perform. Top notch musicians all!
