Celebrating Neil Diamond
by CynthiaD on 10/30/18Ames Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5This show was excellent. The venue was excellent: not too big, not too small & the seating was comfortable. The singers & musicians were excellent as well. The lead singer did not look like Neil Diamond but certainly sounded like him perhaps 20 years ago. If you closed your eyes, you could imagine Neil Diamond singing each song when he was at his peak singing voice. The lead singer got better and better as the concert went on. He sang many songs from Neil Diamond's early years & a few from The Jazz Singer. He ended with America. He had a 12 piece band backing him up & his wife, who had a very nice voice, sang Neil Diamond's duet with him: You Don't Bring Me Flowers. For the last couple of songs, including America, he had a local choir singing backup. He came out for one encore: Sweet Caroline. Considering the tickets were only $30, this concert was well worth the money.
