    Different Than Original Cast

by Cast on 1/6/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

After watching the original cast perform many (and I mean many) times on Disney+, you start to expect cast to sing, talk and move a certain way. Then, it feels weird when they don’t do as expected. There were several times when this cast could have been a bit more animated for audience in nose bleed to notice more movements. Otherwise, the performance was good. Stage and props good. Sound quality good. Venue good. Would come back for another show to this venue.

    A Whole Revolutionary Vibe!!!

by Chaunte on 1/6/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Hamilton was AHHH-MAZING from beginning to end. The storyline, the singing, rapping dancing… everything was fantastic. You will laugh, cry, gasp, buck your eyes and all. I would go again and again.

    :-(

    by :-( on 1/6/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

So much hype. I was so excited to finally go see it… but left disappointed. It was my least enjoyable musical I’ve ever seen. The performers were great but the story line was hard to follow and I musical numbers were not memorable.

    Wonderful

    by Kat827 on 1/4/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

My granddaughter wanted to see Hamilton so we took her for Christmas. Everyone loved it. The theater was beautiful and the whole process of getting in, to our seats and then leaving after the performance went smoothly. I would recommend the Nederlander theater. We plan on returning next year to see Harry Potter and the cursed child.

    Best Hamilton Production Anywhere

    by Armynurse7302 on 1/4/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I have seen the Broadway production of Hamilton and I've seen the previous run of Hamilton here in Chicago. And I say with absolute certainty that this cast with this director has put together the best Hamilton production of them all. I sat in the center orchestra section about 20 rows from the stage, so I could see and hear everything perfectly, and it was just and endless stream of wonderfulness. I loved Chris Jackson as Washington on Broadway, but Marcus Choi gives the performances more emotion (which I loved.) And let me tell you--he brings the house down with his singing! Wow, does this guy have pipes! Deon'te Goodman is, IMHO, better than Leslie Odem, Jr as Burr, and that is really saying something. What a gorgeous voice he has! Neil Haskell as King George can't sing like Jonathon Goff (no one can), but he is WAY funnier in the role, which was a treat. Kendyl Tokoyama was good as Peggy but she was absolutely sensational as Maria Reynolds--she brought a sexual dangerousness to the role I did not see in either of the other two productions. Lencia Kebede can match her Broadway counterpart as Angelica note for note, as can Nikisha Williams as Eliza. But Pierre Jean Gonzalez...well folks, we have finally seen the best Alexander Hamilton performance ever in this actor. Honestly and truly. First of all, as much as we all adore Lin Manuel Miranda, he's not really a singer, is he? Not a trained, melodious voice. But PJG? OMG, can this guy sing! And it's a joy to listen to him! But he also has added a few touches to the performance that are his alone that brought the character into even higher relief. This was so good, I've decided to go back and see it again (and folks, single seat tickets are the trick to getting an affordable seat!) Bravo, Chicago Hamilton! You guys totally blow the roof off with your production!

by von on 1/2/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

This is my second time seeing Hamilton. It was a little different than 2019. Very entertaining. I fell some of the dialogue was a little rushed. This was my Husband first time. He missed some of it because the fast pace.

    Worst Show Ever

by VAA on 1/2/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

If you don't like RAP music, don't go. Could not understand any songs. It was terrible. We left at intermission. And wanted to leave much sooner.

    Entertaining Show

by JW on 1/1/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

We saw Hamilton when it originally came through Chicago (maybe in 2019?). I hesitated to see it again as sometimes it's not as good as the first time. Broadway in Chicago had a Cyber Monday special that I couldn't pass up. We came to the show on a Tuesday night and sat in the orchestra. This cast was as good as the original. While I might have not gone without the discounted ticket, I'm glad I did. I also like that I can purchase insurance through Ticketmaster if there's an issue and we can't attend. Great, entertaining show all around.

One of my new favorite musicals

by Rebecca R on 1/1/24James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

This is probably one of my favorite musicals of all time. It is a very deep, moving biography about Alexander Hamilton and his involvement in politics and the American Resolution. The music blew me away. It was just amazing. The acting was fantastic and I was deeply empathetic to the characters. It was a great musical and I would recommend it to anyone.

Maybe one of the best theater performances I’ve seen

by Tom on 12/31/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I loved the story, the music, the acting, pretty much the whole event. Things were beyond what I expected for sure. My only problem was hearing about 20-30% of it. I don’t know if it was my seats in the corner of the balcony or if it was everywhere but any low volume parts were extremely difficult to make out. I confirmed with two others I took as a Christmas present and they agreed it was hard to hear a portion of the show. I hope to see this again perhaps in a different spot or maybe a recording where I can have sub titles and or the ability to raise the volume. Fantastic job to the whole production for a job well done!

    Audio? What audio?

by Dorothea on 12/31/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The theatre, the actors, the choreography, the music itself, were tremendous! The audio was so poor! We were a group of seven, the cost to attend approached $1,000 and I am a veteran theatre goer. Our group included people aged 19 through 77. I thought my problem hearing the actual words of the song was related to my age so I polled our entire group. No one felt that they could actually hear the words of the songs clearly. I caught about 10% of the words, the best our group felt they could actually distinguish the words of the songs was about 50% - so I don't feel this was related to my age and any hearing loss. The songs are sung at a rapid (rap type) rate, the music also seemed to overpower the voices, and perhaps the mics weren't working as well as they could? At any rate, don't expect to actually hear the story line unless you are really familiar with the songs before you go or something changes dramatically. Felt it was really a waste of money.

    Larger than Life

by BenHoerr on 12/30/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton is a creative masterpiece! The acting and singing were superb; the choreography breathtaking; the orchestra outstanding; the stage set simple but more than adequate. The songs leap off the stage into one's life as we wrestle with questions of significance and meaningfulness, push through impossible adversity, experience all the shades of love, and reflect on "our story."A must-see show!

    Disappointing

by Mick on 12/30/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Had high hopes based on what we’ve seen and heard - hard to live up to expectations of original cast but we thought this cast could’ve been stronger. Was hard to follow along and understand the dialogue and lyrics at times
