    Amazing musical

by zimmerman80 on 10/26/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

From the opening number, Hamilton had me on the edge of my seat. The music was great, and even though I was seated at the back for of the Mezzanine, it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend, and worth the cost.

Hamilton Does Not Throw Away Its Shot!

by Liddy7359 on 10/26/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

This was already a favorite show of mine and I was fortunate enough to see it in New York back in May 2016. The Chicago company does not disappoint and have truly put their own mark on the production. I've now seen both Chicago Hamiltons (Cervantes and alternate Morales) - both were stupendous and brought their own take to the character. Overall, this production is every bit as wonderful as the Broadway production. You can tell the same creative team oversaw things and shepherded it here. How lucky we Chicagoans are to have this in our backyard now!

Ten out of Ten Do Recommend!

by ShayNYCinCHI on 10/25/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

If you're wondering if it's worth it to see Hamilton when tickets cost as much as they do, this production answers the question for you. This show is humorous, heartwarming, and heartbreaking. You could cheer for any character and be satisfied with their portrayal and ability to give human intellect and emotion to folks found in history books. Chris De'Sean Lee was fantastic as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson - quick, humorous, absolutely stole the show. Not many people can rap as quickly as Daveed Diggs, but Chris De'Sean Lee could (I'd love to see a cabinet battle between them). Joshua Henry (Aaron Burr) was captivating as both the "antagonist" and narrator to the story. He could guide the mood of the show with ease, taking you through confidence, hesitation, angst, and remorse in a way so reminiscent of the one and only A. Burr. Jonathan Kirkland (George Washington) was towering in power and presence on stage, you could feel his struggle to lead in a way that made Washington feel small and insecure and very very real. Wallace Smith (Hercules Mulligan) and Jose Ramos (John Laurens) brought humanity to the cast, demonstrating the power of brotherly bonds forged in righteous conviction rather than blood. And of course, the Schuyler Sisters (Ari Asfar, Karen Olivo, Samantha Marie Ware) were showstopping in their ability to show who shapes the actions and history of men. Alex Gemignani was delightfully hilarious as King George. Last but not least, Miguel Cervantes as Alexander Hamilton - to live up to the reputation of not only the character but the writer and actor behind him is a great accomplishment. Cervantes certainly did Lin Manuel proud for this production. There is so much to say about the Chicago production of Hamilton. I'm so immensely grateful I got to see it.

    The Best Musical EVER

by Lobstermania on 10/25/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

As a Broadway musical fan for over 50 years, I thought the Chicago performance of Hamilton was the finest, most beautiful, educational and enjoyable show that I have ever seen. Every American should see this to help understand the founding of our country and the music and acting are so phenomenal that you forget it is a history lesson. A must see!

by Shoobiedoowop on 10/25/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I fell in love with the soundtrack when it came out and figured I would never get a chance to see it fully realized on stage until they announced the Chicago production. I'm blown away by how every person/moving prop was used to tell such a beautiful and moving story. Wonderful show and a wonderful theatre. I can't wait to see it again.

There were a few audio glitches near the end that made everyone sound like they had a slight lisp. Hamilton it self was spectacular and the best show I've ever seen, though I might say that The Private Bank Theater may not have been the best venue especially for those seated in the back portion of the orchestra floor.
