    Great casting

by Jamie9356 on 10/29/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I was hesitant going into this because I saw the original cast on Broadway. However the casting for this Chicago show was fantastic. While they bring a different take on the roles than the originals did, as they should, and sometimes what you hear on the album, these folks are energetic, funny and heartbreaking, just like the story dictates. The set and choreography are FANTASTIC. I've got tickets to see it two more times after this and it won't get old...I can't wait.

    Good show. Difficult audience.

by Anonymous on 10/29/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

The lady in front of me was leaning forward the entire time, effectively blocking half the view of the stage from the balcony. Another lady yelled out a punch line before it was given. Great show though.

Everything I had heard and hoped it would be!

by TfromKC on 10/29/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I've been trying to see Hamilton since it made it to Broadway. When the opportunity to see it in Chicago arose it was a 'no brainer'. We bought tickets and made airline and hotel reservations without a care. After the great success of the original cast, the bar was high. The Chicago troupe was awesome! I would have stayed all day if they would have let me. It was an experience not to be missed. I hope to see it again!

    Best show on broadway

by RickyAB on 10/29/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

Hamilton should be on everybody's bucket list. It is not just an amazing show but cultural phenomenon. Beg, borrow or steal, you have to watch this show even if it's the last thing you do. Everything was perfect, from the performances of the leads to the supporting cast, the music, the singing, everything was just perfection.

    Hamilton was FANTASTIC!

by TheaterLoves on 10/29/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

My daughter and I saw Hamilton in Chicago last week, as she had been totally obsessed with the music for months. It was amazing! It made you reflect on our nation's history and on how lucky we are to be an independent country today. The story made you smile, cry and laugh while the music was generally upbeat and fun, it was also very heartfelt. We loved every minute of the play from start to finish!

    Extraordinary

by Matts1945 on 10/29/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I have seen nothing like it in 52 year of going to the theatre in Chicago, NYC, and Ireland. When people ask me if I felt it was worth the $500 to see it, I tell them that it is a small price to pay for witnessing genius. Extraordinary cast, extraordinary book, extraordinary choreography. Extraordinary!

    Hamilton Great-Audience Not So Great

by Mari00 on 10/28/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I loved the play, but there is no doubt that the people sitting around me in the Mezzanine level did not exercise good audience etiquette during the play. There were people glancing at their phones, talking and moving around too much. This definitely took away from the whole experience.

    WOW!!

by amt318 on 10/28/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I'll be honest I don't know my American history but the story is easy to follow. At times I got lost in the amazement of the way Lin wrote the play. It's pure genius. The rapped lyrics/lines aren't over the top and it's easy to understand as the actors work really well annunciating all the words-- except for Jefferson, he raps fast but that's by design. All the actors were fabulous and no one was trying to outshine the others. It may be an expensive ticket but it's absolutely worth the price!!!! For a sneak peak at the play watch Hamilton's America on PBS. It's a documentary with Lin Manuel Miranda.

The Very Best of all by a long shot!!!

by McDuun on 10/28/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

There have been many wonderful musicals produced over the years, and a few of them have been great (Les Mis, Phantom, Book of Mormon), but Hamilton is unlike anything ever seen. it stands way, way, way above anything else. One can talk about the genius of the story and the delightful melodies and lyrics, but the tightness of the production is what impressed me the most. The choreography was seamless and perfectly in sync, and the sound was clear and rich. The actors were magnificent! I have seen many musicals, but this was a whole new experience. If you are a theater lover, you have to see this. We saw this two nights in a row, and just like the cast album, we saw so much more the second time. Unbelievable!!!

by BuffettFanForever on 10/27/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

Listened to the CD and read the lyrics before seeing the show. The performance was unforgettable! The talent and the energy of the cast was sublime. Set and props very clever. Thoroughly enjoyed learning early American History while being wildly entertained in this format! Bravo!!!

    Even with the hype, TERRIFIC!!!

by CycleGurl on 10/26/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

Have heard so many things about "Hamilton" since BEFORE it even got to Chicago - not being much of a "hip hop" fan, I wasn't sure it was going to be my thing. But the performances were all AMAZING - I actually feel because of the "wordiness" of hip hop, they were able to provide even more detail and history. And where there were songs, the performers were even more impressive. Great story, great performances, and what a refreshing way to present the material.

Everything I had imagined...and so much more!!!

by SydSkysMom on 10/26/16The PrivateBank Theatre - Chicago

I had been a fan of the Hamilton movement probably ever since I heard that Lin Manuel Miranda was working on another show. When it was finally released, I was pretty bummed that it was only in New York and tickets were either not available at all or incredibly expensive if you were lucky enough to find them. So, like Aaron Burr, I decided to Wait For It and see if by some miracle I would be able to see this groundbreaking show. After months and months of blasting the Hamilton soundtrack in my car, at home and even work, I finally had a chance to grab some tickets to the hottest Broadway show in the country and, thankfully, right by my home...CHICAGO! My expectations were high for this cast, since I had fallen in love with practically everyone from the original cast. I saw the show and I laughed, I cried, I bopped along to the music and cried some more. I was enormously impressed with this cast and their take on the characters. They knocked it out of the park and I was over the moon about the entire performance. I still hope to one day see the show in New York, but until then, I will forever gush about the amazing performance of Hamilton that I was lucky enough to see in the great city of Chicago!
